I stood there with tears in my eyes watching the pack hunters and my parents scrutinizing me without taking any further steps closer as their noses flared at the scent emitting from my body.

"Thank God you guys came. He ran away," I gasped out, shifting my gaze to the window, but they were all gaping at me.

"The vampire scent is coming from your body, Diane! How?" One of the men voiced out, confirming what others had also realized.

Their eyes drifted from me to my parents as if waiting for an explanation as to why I was suddenly giving up such scent.

"Should we chain her?"

"How can a hunter child become a vampire?"

They all murmured among themselves, and I could tell the only reason I hadn't been pounced on and shackled was because of my parents, who were their leaders.

"My daughter can't suddenly turn into a vampire. That vampire that left did something to her." The voice of my mother cracked as she walked up to me.

"Diane, What happened?! Tell us. What did the vampire do to you? And how did you end up in this hospital?!" She demanded with a stern look on her face.

I thought they were out of town, but it seemed they were around and on duty.

As much as she was my mother, she was also very loyal to her duty as a headhunter. Whatever I say would only save me from immediate prosecution, but I won't escape going through that hellish vampire test.

Everyone's eyes were on me as they waited with little shred of patience to hear what I had to say.

There would be no mercy if I turned out to have any fragments of vampire gene in me. My head would be hanging in the market square tomorrow morning.

"The vampire forced a fluid inside my veins just so I would possess his scent while he flew to avoid being traced down." I managed to spill with a trembling voice, faking out tears.

"Why didn't you alert us immediately?" One of the hunters asked with a suspicious stare.

"I was too scared to do anything, and besides, I am under medication. If you still suspect me, I don't mind going through that torturous test to prove myself pure. All we should be worried about is that vampires now roam around this pack freely without being noticed." I murmured, taking a deep breath to calm my wracking nerves.

Fear was choking me at that moment as I wondered if the test would actually prove me to be a pure werewolf.

What if I had made a fatal mistake that would cost me my life because of love?

What if Leo had just used me to escape? I may have loved and trusted the wrong person, who just sacrificed me for his safety.

Why didn't I stop him from putting the ring on my finger? I didn't even know what his mission here was. I just fell blindly in love, like the fool I was, and now I would be going through hell all because of him.

All these questions crashed on me like a freight train, and I couldn't help the terror wreaking through my soul. My wolf was more scared as she curled up in the deepest part of me.

I glanced at my fingers and wished the ring was visible for me to remove. I would pull it out myself at that moment because the anxiety was getting unbearable.

I wasn't chained, but my two hands were gripped tight by the hunters as they made to lead me out.

But before we could reach the door, someone ran in, and it was the doctor that was with me before Leo came.

"Is the vampire that did this to you not Leo? The one that brought you here?" His voice broke in, and we all turned to him.

"Huh? No, it is not him!" I responded sharply, sending an angry look at him.

"So where is the so-called Leo? He may also have something to say about this whole thing!" My father growled at the doctor, who shook his head.

"Diane is the only person that knows where he is because I didn't see him walk out the door."

"Then he might be hiding somewhere inside this room!" Someone blurted, and my heart dropped to my stomach.

"No, no, no, he left before the chaos! Stop all these accusations. It is making me sick!"

"How are you sure he wasn't the vampire when he was the last person with you!" My mother frowned, her eyes glimmering with disappointment.

"I believed he was the one. Diane had a strange reaction before he entered here, as if she felt his vampire aura first. What I don't understand is why she is bent on defending him." The doctor sighed, leaving me scared.

"It wasn't him, bald head!" I retorted furiously and wished I could stomp on his head.

I was breathing heavily, trying to control my heart rate.

"Why are you defending him?" My mother asked gently, her eyes narrowed at me.

"He is just my teacher who saved my life. I fainted in school, and he was the only one who saved me. The only one who cared enough to bring me here and made sure I was treated! I can't bear hearing you all call him a vampire." I seethed as I glared at them all with a newly developed hatred and hostility.

"We aren't calling him a vampire yet. But he is definitely a suspect!" One of the hunters chipped in.

"He is just a teacher, and you sound like you both are a couple! How can you trust your teacher so much when all you know about them is what they tell you?" Another hunter lashed at me, and I could swear my wolf was at the edge of attacking him.

I only held onto myself, knowing if I overreacted, I would be endangering Leo more.

"Diane, you shouldn't be defending anyone like this because it is very risky. No matter how much you think that person is good, you have no idea how many skeletons people may be hiding in the cupboard! For now, Leo is a suspect, and he used you to escape!" My father warned with a final tone.

"You all are speaking like I didn't see the vampire face when he entered here before disappearing through that window! He looked nothing like my math teacher, Leo! The only wrong Leo did was save my life, right?" I sniffed with tears blurring my vision.

"We are just being extra careful, and it won't be bad to run the test on him. There is no harm in taking precautions since it is for our safety!" My mother added with a reassuring smile.

"I guess they are in love, and she has already developed a bond with him." The foolish doctor spilled, and this time it was my mother who barked at him.

"Shut up already! You guess a lot when no investigation has been made. Don't put anything on my daughter because she is innocent and is just a victim of insecurity. You should thank God the vampire didn't kill her." My mother hissed, wiping the tears from my eyes.

"Daughter, we will have to bring you to the Alpha for the test because it would also cleanse you from this vampire scent. Your mother and I are convinced you are a true werewolf hunter." Dad smiled, and I nodded.

Beads of sweat broke through my face, eyes fluttering as I fought hard to maintain my composure, returning a calm smile to my parents, who were so sure I would be vindicated.

"Unless you have betrayed this pack to mingle with those monsters of the night, which I strongly doubt." He added calmly, and I felt a sinking feeling overwhelming me.

His words sent fear inside of me like a wave as my left hand frantically rubbed through my stomach.

The baby!

How didn't I think of it? The test would definitely prove me to be a vampire because I am carrying one in my belly.

Diane's POV “Speed and agility are her strengths. She can vanish in a flicker of shadow and attack from behind, hitting parts of your body that are weak and vulnerable. That’s her tactic.” Leo began teaching me as usual in the private room. Here, no one else can enter, and it was built for his meditation session. According to what he told me, this was a place he hid and wallowed in grief and sorrow over the loss of his mother for years. He would sometimes go feral, breaking everything in his path, roaring and inflicting injuries on himself. In that state, no one around him was safe. That was why a place like this was made and set aside for him.Last night, I came here for training, but he wasn’t around. I heard a rumor that his primal beast had surfaced again, and he had vanished into the forest late in search of someone no one was aware of.Today he is normal again and has begun to train and give me lectures on how I would defeat Zena.He hadn’t mentioned anything about last night,

“Reina!” My voice cracked, heart dropping into my stomach as I ran to her collapsed figure on the ground and lifted her into my lap.Blood smeared her face, and she clung to me in panic, her pale eyes brimming with tears.“Please… save me. I don’t want to die…” Her voice trembled, lips quivering as she looked up at me like I was her last hope—even though she already knew I was a vampire.“Don’t worry. Breathe. Breathe. Take a deep breath. You’re safe now.” I said to her, but she still shook, her chest rising and falling heavily.“He chased me down and attacked me,” she whimpered. “His eyes were full of venom, and he wanted to suck my lifeblood! He’s not like you—he’s different. What did I do to him to deserve this?”I saw the wounds on her body and knew immediately—Leo must have had another flashback of his mother tonight. Those memories always turned him into a monster. And when he recalled that Reina had returned to her pack, he must have hunted her down, unable to resist the opport

The moonlight glowed brighter on his skin, his eyes glistening like ripples on a river as they pierced into mine.He wore a sparkling white shirt tucked into blue trousers, the sleeves rolled up to reveal beautifully inked tattoos along his arms. The shirt was unbuttoned halfway, exposing a broad, sculpted chest.Though the shirt was neatly tucked in like a professor’s, his tousled brown hair gave him a rugged charm.“That was an interesting battle to watch,” he said, his deep voice resonating as if it were speaking directly to my soul. A subtle smile played on his lips.I stood frozen, mouth slightly open, eyes locked on him. I couldn’t tell if this was real or some vivid hallucination. He stepped closer, hands casually tucked in his pockets stood close, his tall figure towering over my small frame. My breath caught.I raised my gaze to meet his, and his smile made my stomach flutter like it was filled with butterflies.“I enjoyed the show,” he said, winking before shifting his eyes

My voice shook as I spoke, the words hitching in my throat. “You did what?”My eyes locked on Jaden, searching for a flicker of doubt, wondering if it was my ears tricking me. But his lips curled into a smirk, his shoulders squared with a smug confidence.“How could you, Jaden?” I said, my voice barely above whispers, my fingers clutching at the edge of my sleeves.“We are not here for long talks!” Jaden’s father's voice was a low growl as his claws elongated in readiness. “Start saying your last prayer because your end is now.”I stepped back, my heels hitting a splintered wood. “My father trusted you,” I muttered, my breath hitching. “He made you his Beta because he believed in your loyalty. Are you really going to ambush his daughter?”His laughter was sharp, like shattering glasses. “You brought it on yourself when you decided to embarrass us and make a mockery of us in the pack’s eyes!”I could feel my pulse racing as he leaned in closer, his hot breath fanning my face and the st

Reina's POV“Here is the woman…” He pointed in the dark room; pride and satisfaction laced his voice.“Isn’t she dead already?” I narrowed my eyes at the motionless body of the woman lying in shackles. Her whole body was bruised, cut deeply and burnt. She was clothed with wounds and had nothing to cover her naked body.“No, she is not dead, but I can assure you, death is the only prayer she offers to her god, as it would save her from the intense torture that never ends. It has been years now.”I stepped closer and squatted in front of her. As if my presence gave a bit of strength, I saw her eyelids flutter and her numb fingers budge.“You deserve this and even more for what you did to my innocent mother. All the evil you and your people have committed must be accounted for!” I seethed at her and watched as her eyes opened slowly, those eyes all dead.I couldn’t tell if she could see me clearly because her eyes were red and drooling.“Your son and husband will join you soon. Diane’s POVJust as I prayed for, they didn’t go further in the torture after my fight challenge with Zena was stamped. The satisfaction in their eyes said it all. How they really can’t wait for that day when they will see me get beaten up and killed at last.“You can go back to your room. The uniform will be sent to you tomorrow, and you can start school. Join any class of your choice and do as much training as you can in the five days you have.” The king said it with finality, and I only nodded, my mouth heavy to open and say anything. All my life I have depended on luck to survive. Every time I faced death or a dangerous threat, luck pulled up for me, and somehow, I would end up escaping and being the winner.Five days from now, I will be needing the greatest luck of my life because Zena needed nothing else but my headless body. She would do everything possible not to lose this opportunity to put an end to me. Jealousy had eaten deep inside her. She had seen me as a threat from the
