Mag-log inRaven’s POV
“Whoever is the leader of the Crimson Fangs, that person is totally unhinged!” Tyler exclaimed, propping himself down on the couch next to me. “The attacks continue, putting the werewolf world in chaos.”
It had been days and everyday, Tyler would always bring news updates about the Crimson Fangs. We even started receiving protection requests from packs nearby.
“They’re a ferocious pack, huh?” Ash mumbled as she took the space left on my other side. “Now that I think about it, aren’t we lucky to be rogues? At least, they won’t be coming to mess with us,” she added, chugging down her beer on a can.
Well, Ash was right. But I still couldn’t find the answer why they were looking for me. I couldn’t remember making enemies…Was it somehow related to Dad?
“Hey, Ghost. Are you curious?” Tyler asked, peeking through the magazine he was holding.
I shrugged. “About what?”
Tyler sat up and put down the magazine. “About the reason why Crimson Fangs is looking for Raven. How about we try to find out? It’s getting boring these days.”
Boring, eh? The only reason why nobody’s trying to mess with us is because we’ve beaten up almost every gang in the area and even in the nearby towns and cities.
“I’m not sure. I don’t think I want to find out. Does this have anything to do with us? It will be just a waste of time,” I said, although deep down, I wanted to know.
But casting away my name as Raven also meant I should live on with no strings attached from my past. They wanted Raven, but Raven was dead. Besides, it wasn’t certain if they were looking for that Raven.
“Ah, seriously. Alright! But if you change your mind, just let me know. I’m up for the task,” Tyler said before going back to his seat.
I leaned on my back, grabbing the magazine Tyler had earlier and covering it on my face. The matter about the Crimson Fangs still bothered me, but I had to forget about it as soon as I could before trouble found its way to us.
The crew was made to give us freedom…and home. Digging further about Raven’s matter could ruin the life I’ve earned so far.
“Ghost!” A familiar voice called, followed by footsteps coming to the living room. “Ghost!”
A groan escaped my lips, taking the magazine off my face. “What is it, Sunny?” I asked the youngest member of the crew.
Sunny rushed toward me with a pale expression on his face. He was catching his breath when Ash handed him her beer.
“Here. Drink it and catch your breath,” she told him.
Sunny just made a face and pushed Ash’s hand away. “Come on, I don’t drink beer in cans,” he grumbled and turned to me. “Ghost, someone’s here to meet you.”
Someone? But I wasn’t expecting anyone.
“Who?”
Sunny scratched his head. “Uh… I forgot his name, but he’s from Iron Howls Pack? Uh… Iron Howling? What is it again? It’s Iron How-”
“Iron Howlers?” Tyler butted in. “Aren’t they one of the strongest packs known in the area? Hey, Ghost. Did you invite them here?”
Of course not! Why would I invite the pack that drove me away when I was at my lowest?
Suddenly, I felt a familiar pang in my chest. Blood left my face as I stared at Sunny.
“So, I told them to wait outside. Should we let them in?” Sunny asked, moving his gaze between me and Tyler.
The crew didn’t know about my past, not in detail. They knew I left my pack, but not the reason why. Tyler had a few guesses, and they were always spot on, but I tried to avoid it no matter what. I was afraid that telling them the truth would reveal my weakness.
I trusted the camaraderie I developed with the gang. We got along, binded by strength and battle experiences. But when matters about me as Raven surfaced, I was afraid they would look at me differently. And I didn’t want that to happen.
“Ghost? Are you listening?” Sunny waved his hands in front of my face. “So, should I tell them to go or what?”
I took a deep breath and let out a sigh. The three of them were looking at me, waiting for my decision. “Let them in. We might as well hear them out,” I said, straightening my back.
“Oh, okay!” Sunny said and left.
There’s no way Jax is among them, right? He shouldn't be easily coming to the rogue’s territory when he was an Alpha of the strong pack.
“Are you sure you want to face them? If you want, I can pretend as Ghost while you watch on the sideline,” Tyler suggested, winking at me.
I groaned and ignored him. Though his idea seemed tempting, everyone should already know that Ghost was a woman. I didn’t want weird rumors about the gang spreading because of him.
“Why not?,” I replied. “They also seem to need us for something. Aren’t you curious about what they came for?”
Tyler shrugged. “Kind of.”
A few moments later, Sunny came back with people behind him.
“Ghost, I brought them here.” Sunny stepped aside, revealing the faces of the people who followed him. “This is Ghost, our leader,” he added, introducing me in a serious tone.
I lifted my gaze, meeting the uninvited guests. “I heard you came looking for me–”
J-Jax Thorn?
My heart went wild as my breathing became uneven the moment I landed my gaze on him…the man who rejected me. The one and only, Jax Thorn.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I am Jax Thorn, Alpha of the Iron Howlers Pack,” he introduced himself.
Wait, did he not recognize me?
“What did you come for?” Tyler asked, glancing at me with an unreadable expression on his face. “Ghost doesn’t have time to spare, so you’d better not waste her time.”
Jax wasn’t fazed by Tyler’s unfriendly tone, but answered his question. “I need your help for something,” he started.
“Please help us find someone… Raven Kincade.”
Jax's POV Our Pack kept dividing because of one woman–Raven. Since the prophecy about her being the Moonshard Alpha queen, there was never a time we have had peace. Alphas from different packs, near and far kept tripping In our pack just to satisfy their curiosity. Some turned our enemies when we couldn't provide Raven while a few others became servile, eager to form alliances with us. And Raven. She has refused to come back. It's been five days since she got missing. Her crew had returned to their human town, believing she was there but I just got a message from Tyler. Apparently, she hasn’t been around the human town for days now.Not willing to let go of her, I decided I was going to find her on my own without the knowledge of the elders or anyone. So, I picked a few items I’d be needing for my journey and hopped on my horse. The journey began, my horse speeding. I passed through our borders and rode through Bloodmoon pack, our neighborhood pack.My instincts kept telling
Jax's POV“Search everywhere for her… and bring her back to me” I commanded my men. So, they divided themselves and began the search for Raven. How could she suddenly disappear in blue? I was still speaking with the strangers when she suddenly became invisible. Where could she have gone? I continued pacing around outside when Tyler walked up to me, his expression cold, his voice filled with urgency.“Jax, what is happening? Where's Ghost?”My lips twisted in frustration. “ I can't find her anywhere” My breath hitched, sweat draining my entire body.Tyler moved closer and tapped my shoulders gently. “ You don't have to worry about her. Ghost is just fine wherever she is” “I can't stop worrying” I turned to Tyler who had become more stable. “ Raven would get into trouble. I know what I'm saying” Realizing how much power Raven wielded and how much people seek to destroy or get her attention, I became more worried. Tyler and the rest seem not to understand how powerful and myster
Raven's POV My heart pounded fast as I walked through the hallway leading to the large meeting room. Everything was still the same way I left them three years ago.An unfamiliar voice kept calling my name from a distance but I didn't bother to look back. Things are really happening fast. I don't know who I am anymore. Moonshard. I keep hearing that word but have never come to the realization of what it meant.Hurriedly, I passed the large meeting room and noticed the way two elders seated kept peering at me with something deep in their eyes. Ha! Do they still recognize me as Raven? It's been three years now. Many should have lost the memory of who I was already. “Raven?” One of them called my name and I spun around in his direction. I stopped short on the spot not knowing what to do or say. “ You?” the same elder continued. “What are you doing here?” My lips became dry. I wanted to walk away when Jax walked in.“ Raven” Jax's sharp voice interrupted from behind and I spun
Jax's POVClutching my chest, I took a deep breath, calming down myself. Ever since we escaped from the Crimson Fang den , I have been trying to figure out a whole lot of things with Raven the center of my concentration. Earlier today, something strange… or maybe something inexplicable happened while we were yet to escape from the den. Raven had fainted and while she was unconscious, darkness descended from nowhere and covered us all. The darkness wasn't my concern but the sharp voice that echoed from it. We listened in utter silence as the voice rang out with bold authority, delivering a prophecy about Raven.“She’s the moonshard Alpha queen?” I muttered to myself, still lost in thoughts. The sudden realization that Raven was the key to destroying or uniting packs made me shiver with cold inside. How could she be the chosen one that was prophesied about in the past? The one whose blood unites and divides the packs. As I kept wandering in thoughts in chambers, the door sudden
Raven's POV A mist hung in the air as we approached the deeper side of the woods. It's noon already. Too late for mist to be hanging around. Yet, it was there before us like a spider web. I watched as the captives and the rest of crew halted, trying to figure out what danger looms from the unclear cloud. Birds chirp, skinks rustle leisurely under dried leaves and howls filled my ears. My brother, Bruno, held my hands firmly but as the captives began to freak out, I decided to challenge whatsoever hiding in the woods that was covered with mist. “Will he be right back?” I said to Bruno, pulling out my sword.“ Where are you going?” Bruno's voice cracked, his eyes widening in disbelieve. I didn't respond to him but I faintly heard Jax's voice very faintly from behind. I couldn’t quite catch what Jax said, but I did hear him mention he was coming right behind. “ Where are you going, Ghost?” Tyler cuts in, his voice steady, enough to stop me from going to find solutions.I ignored
Jax POV . We retired from the Crimson Fang den, heading out to our freedom. The captives led us through a thick forest and we followed behind them in silence.Throughout the journey, Raven didn't leave her brother's side. Tyler and the rest of the crew stuck together while I walked behind them like a squared rabbit. Somehow, I was happy we won the battle but deep down, I wish all of this didn't come to an end. I wish Raven isn't going to leave my sight soon to her own world. I swallowed hard and continued walking. As the journey progressed, we arrived at a little river, shallow enough to wade across. Then, one of the captives lifted his voice in a low, mournful song, the melody flowing in the rhythm of his native tongue. Before long, a few others joined in, their weary voices echoing together in sorrowful harmony, while the rest continued in heavy silence, their soft voice causing the atmosphere to stir in a certain way.The song filled my ears and my heart swelled with the thoug
