I stared at him, my chest tight with frustration and disbelief.

“Leonardnard,” I said, trying to sound less frustrated than I already was, “why are you still fighting this? Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted? You can go ahead and make Jessica you Luna now. If you don’t end the mate bond, we’ll only keep suffering when we’re being intimate with our respective partners.”

His eyes blazed, filled with a mix of fury and something that chilled me.

“I’d rather the both of us endure the pain,” he spat, his voice low and dangerous, “than for me to ever accept your rejection.”

My hands clenched at my sides. Pain. Anger. Fear. All tangled up inside me.

“I…” I tried to speak, to tell him he was being ridiculous, insane even. But he cut me off before I could finish.

“And if you were ever going to be free from me,” he continued, his tone chillingly calm now, “I’d do the rejection myself. No one else would have the right.”

The heaviness of his words pressed down on me, heavy, and suffocating. I looked at him, incredulous.

“You’re being selfish,” I said, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and disbelief. “This… all of this drama you’re stirring up… it’s pointless. Because nothing you do will make me leave Draven. Absolutely nothing.”

His eyes darkened, a dangerous glint shining through.

“We’ll see about that,” he growled, in a threatening way.

The council of elders exchanged uneasy glances. Their faces were calm, but the tension in the room was thick enough to slice through.

Finally, one of the elders cleared his throat.

“This matter,” he said slowly, “is dismissed. It’s clear that this… this is something that will take time. Leonardnard will need time… before he can come to terms with the rejection he has received.”

I felt a flicker of dissatisfaction run through me. Leonardnard’s glare never left me, though. His lips pressed into a hard line, his hands tightening at his sides.

I could feel a small, wicked smile tug at my lips as we left the council chambers. An idea had already begun to form in my mind. He wanted both of us to endure the pain right? If I seduced Draven more often… if I made sure we both had sex constantly… it would sting Leonardnard. It would make him writhe in pain, and then he’d finally reject the bond.

Besides, it’s also a good chance to become even close to Draven. Alphas grew attached, drawn in, deeper and deeper, to whoever they shared themselves with. And Draven… he was no different. The more I allowed him inside me, the more his heart and mind would tether to me.

By the time we reached our chambers, I could already feel the tension settling in the air between us. Draven followed quietly, his eyes on me, calm and unshakable, completely unaware of the plan spinning in my mind. I could still hear Leonard’s voice in the council room, the way he spat that he’d rather the both of us endure the pain than for him to ever accept my rejection.

He wanted pain? If that was the game he wanted to play, I would give him an ocean of it.

I walked toward Draven slowly, watching him keenly, until I was close enough that the heat radiating off his massive frame burned through my stare. I reached out, my fingers trailing up the hard muscle of his chest to the column of his throat, my nails digging in just enough to leave a mark.

"Draven…. I want you…" I whispered, my voice quite low and seductive. "Since Leonardnard thinks he can tether me to his suffering. He thinks the bond is a cage. I want him to feel every second of what we’re about to do in that cage he has created until he’s begging to reject me."

Draven’s eyes were filled with excitement, he knew damn well of the agony the bond would transmit to his nephew.

My hand sliding down to the waistband of his trousers. I was feeling antsy, my pulse throbbing with a dark, secondary purpose.

"The more I allow you inside me, the more he burns.” She paused, raising herself to meet his ear. “Isn't that what you want too, Draven?” She whispered to his ears and nibbled on them. “To hurt him badly…"

I was playing him perfectly, weaving a tether that would pull him deeper into my orbit even as I prepared to burn his world down from the inside.

Draven lowered his gaze to me, his eyes batting between restraint and surrender, I nuzzled my face into the crook of his neck, inhaling his scent deeply as I pressed open-mouthed kisses along his throat. “Draven…” I added as my tongue flicked out to taste the salt on his skin. He grabbed my waist, his hands large and possessive, pulling me flush against him with a growl of agreement.

My heart raced as I stared into Draven's intense eyes. The air between us crackled with tension and desire.

I captured his mouth in a searing kiss, nipping at his bottom lip. Draven responded with his large hands roaming my curves as he claimed my mouth with his tongue, his tongue delving deep to claim me completely.

I fisted my hands in his dark hair, holding him close as we stumbled through the room, bumping into furniture in our desperation to get closer. I wanted him to feel my hunger, but more importantly, I wanted Leonard to feel the sharp, throbbing ache of my betrayal through the bond. I imagined Leonard on his knees, clutching his chest in the dark, like I used to whenever he fucked Jessica.

I tugged at his shirt, desperate to feel his skin against mine. Draven yanked it off and tossed it aside. I pressed my chest to his, circling my hips against the hard bulge in his trousers. He groaned, fingers digging into my ass.
