Rejection

ANNABEL

My eyes fluttered open and I slowly sat up, but I regretted my actions immediately due to the headache that accompanied me when I stood up.

I touched the back of my head and hissed in pain, the pain was just too much. I suddenly became aware of my surrounding and took notice of the people gathered around me, their eyes held nothing but hate and anger, from the way they stared at me, I knew if given the chance, they would waste no time in tearing me to shreds.

I slowly crawled backwards, trying to get far away from them as I could. I had no idea where I was or who these people are, but when I recalled what had happened, hot tears streamed down my cheeks.

"Father." I whispered.

The image of my father's face flashed in my head, I would never forget the look of regret in his eyes as he dropped to his knees.

I was still grieving over my father's death and questioning myself about why he would sacrifice himself from me when someone threw a little rock at me.

The rock hit my forehead and I felt blood drip down my face.

"Look at her, she's the daughter of the betrayer! She doesn't deserve to live! She has bad blood coursing through her veins." Someone yelled from the crowd.

"Daughter of a betrayer! Daughter of a betrayer! We should have her blood too, she doesn't deserve to live!"

"W..what?" I stuttered in shock, I had no idea what they were talking about, but them calling my father a betrayer was something I couldn't accept.

My father has always shown me nothing but hatred, but in the end he sacrificed his own life for mine, deep down I know that my father was a good man and would never betray anyone, my father doesn't even have any enemies.

I don't care what they do to me, but I won't sit still and watch them talk about my deceased father in such a way.

I abruptly stood up to defend my father.

"Stop it! My father was a good man, my father is not a betrayer! My father is not a bad person, my father is a good man!" I defended in tears.

A man walked out of the crowd, he looked at me in disgust before spitting at me. "Do you hear what the daughter of the betrayer had said people, the little bitch thinks her father was a good man, should we tell her?" He asked and the crowd burst into an hilarious laughter.

"Hey you! You really do have no idea what your damn father had done and seeing how you blindly stood up to defend him, I have no doubt that you're no different from your devilish father!" The man spat. "Your father is not a good man, he's a betrayer, a cheat and a liar, he clearly deserves what he got and had he not taken a bullet that wasn't meant for him, he would have died a death even more painful than that!"

"No!" I yelled. "Don't talk like that about my father, who are you to judge a man that you know nothing about huh? Who are you to say such things about my father? Don't call my father a betrayer!" I fired back.

"Feisty huh?" The man chuckled darkly. "You will learn to tame that tongue of yours now." He smirked.

The man slowly approached me and I took a step back in fear.

"Weren't you so full of confidence a while ago, now who's the scared kitty.'' He mocked.

"S...stay away from me, don't come close to me." I warned fearfully.

"Or what are you going to do, I'll love to see what the daughter of a traitor can do," He smirked.

I saw a rock lying not too far from where I stood and I ran to pick it up.

The man scoffed loudly. "Look people, the little kitty want to kill me with a rock." He said and the people burst into laughter.

The man shut his eyes and when he reopened them, his eye color had changed to yellow, he growled dangerously at me and I flinched in fear.

I needed to get away from here, I couldn't stay here. I sharply turned around but I bumped into someone instead.

I stumbled backwards in shock and once again, I was facing the same Alpha from before, the man who murdered my father.

His green eyes were literally spitting fire and they held nothing but hate and disgust, which was all directed at me.

"Alpha!'' The man from earlier bowed.

"You haven't spent a day here but you're already making tons of enemies for yourself." He said to me. "I see no different from you and your father, I guess your family do have a way of making people bitter!" He spat.

He sounded so bitter and I couldn't help but wonder what my father must have done to deserve so much hatred from all this people.

"And to think that I got mated to a woman like you, the damn daughter of my enemy!" He spat.

I've always had people hating me my whole life and I've learned to not be bothered by their hatred for me, but this time it was different, this wasn't just anybody talking to me right now, this was my own mate! And seeing how much my own mate hates me breaks my heart.

I never expected to have a mate, but each time it crosses my mind, I had hoped that my mate will love and cherish me, but who am I to hope, my fate is cursed and it seems like I've been destined to never experience love or true happiness.

I stood transfix at a spot as my mate showered so many insults on me, he made a promise to make my life a living hell and vowed to make me pay for the sins my father committed.

"Having you as a mate is like a curse and I refuse to accept this curse!" He spat and I instantly knew what was coming next.

"I, Alpha Andrew Scott of the wild crest pack rejects you Annabel Travis as my mate and I want nothing to do with you!''

I felt a sharp pain in my heart and I slowly dropped to my knees, groaning in pain.

"Being rejected by an Alpha must be brutal." He said and I raised my head to look at him.

"You will now get to experience pain much worse than this." He vowed.

"Take her away and throw her in the dungeon!"
