Seraphina

In the blink of an eye, we were already back at Asheron’s estate.

Even as he dumped me onto the high mattress with his usual nonchalant air, his hands stayed too long on my shoulders.

He acted like I was nothing more than an inconvenience but his emotions spoke otherwise.

"Get some sleep" he said softly, stepping back and pulling the duvet over my legs. "I have security posted outside the door. If you manage to get kidnapped again before sunrise, I’m locking you up myself."

I rolled m

SeraphinaThe third toll of the alarm bell vibrated through the floorboards and into my bones.Asheron’s arm tightened around me before he set me carefully on my feet. The gentleness vanished the moment my balance held. His face had gone cold. It was the expression he had on when the territory itself was under threat.“Stay behind me,” he ordered. “If I tell you to run, you run. No arguments allowed”I nodded. Someone intended to use the relic before the bloodline results could spread any further.Kevin met us in the corridor, already armed with two elite guards at his back. “West wing breach. Pearl’s personal attendants overpowered the first watch. She is not in her room.”Asheron’s reply was a single low growl. “Seal the outer gates. No one is allowed to leave the grounds. Secure the relic.”We moved fast. Every hallway felt longer than it should have. Servants pressed themselves against walls as we passed. The alarm continued its sound designed to wake every wolf on the estate and

SeraphinaAsheron’s forehead stayed against mine for several long and deep breaths. The connection between us was now more insistent, as if the confirmation of Sovereign blood and Sinclair paternity had finally given it permission to root deeper. I felt the exact moment another seal cracked.A fragment slipped through showing Asheron’s hand had locked around my wrist, pulling me into shadow. His mouth in my ear, whispered: “If the relic senses us, it will not stop at warning. It will erase.”I gasped and pulled back. Asheron’s eyes snapped open, as if he had seen the same piece of stolen time.“What was that?” he demanded.“A warning, perhaps” I whispered. “From before. You knew the relic could take the memories. You tried to keep me away from it. It’s the same one we seized from Rowan and Quinn”Lira’s earlier words about the soul-swap relic echoed in my head. The same artifact Quinn had used to steal my body. The same one that had powered the suppression seals. I pressed a hand to m

SeraphinaI woke up slowly and felt Asheron’s lingering presence For a few disoriented seconds I thought Asheron was still there. The chair beside the bed was empty, but the blanket had been drawn higher over my shoulder, and the faint warmth of his hand still seemed to linger in my palm. He had stayed. The knowledge settled in my chest with a complicated ache. He could order distance, confine me, refuse the child or the bond, and still he had sat holding my hand like a man who no longer trusted himself to leave.Lira moved quietly at the side table, arranging vials and a slim diagnostic slate. When she noticed I was awake she offered a small smile.“He only left when I arrived,” she said without being asked. “Sat there the entire time. Alpha did not look away for a second”I pushed myself up carefully. The bruises along my ribs protested, but the sharp edge of pain had dulled. “Did he say anything?”Lira hesitated. “He ordered Pearl’s confinement extended indefinitely. Kevin posted

AsheronNext to me, Seraphina slept like someone who had finally run out of strength to keep fighting.I sat in the chair beside the bed long after her breathing evened out, her hand still loosely curled in mine. The bruise on her cheek looked darker and more painful. The cut in her lip had stopped bleeding. Every shallow rise of her chest reminded me that two of her ribs were damaged because she had chosen silence over self-defense.For me. All for my sake. I didn’t deserve all of that. Especially not with the way I treated her.Of course, I should have left to maintain my ego. But for some reason, I had told myself I would stay only until she fell asleep, then return to the study and rebuild the distance I kept demanding. Instead I remained there. I was so far gone for her it was quite humiliating to admitAn unranked Omega. That was still the label my mind tried to force into place. Seraphina was the kind of woman a Sinclair Alpha was never supposed to want, let alone need. I

Seraphina Asheron caught my chin, tilting my face toward the light. His thumb brushed the split in my lip with a care that contradicted the fury rolling off him in waves.“Are you going to talk or not?” he repeated, quieter this time, but far more dangerous.“I told you. It does not matter.”“It matters.” His gaze dropped to the way I held my breath. “Breathe.”I tried. The sharp pain that followed made my knees weaken. Asheron’s other arm locked around my waist before I could sink, holding me upright against his chest. The contact was sudden and overwhelming. His scent flooded my senses“Lira,” he called over his shoulder as his voice carried the full weight of Alpha command. “Now.”Kevin must have been waiting nearby. Within moments Lira rushed in with her medical bag, face paling when she saw me. Asheron did not release me. He guided me to the edge of the bed and forced me to sit, one hand still steadying my shoulder as if he expected me to collapse.Lira worked quickly with gent

SeraphinaI should have known Pearl would not just wait around and let me be. I had been waiting for her to make a move and while heading back Practically, I was alone enough for Pearl to strike. She waited for me beside the fountain, dressed in pale lavender that looked almost gentle in the sunlight. The moment the attendant withdrew and the garden gates closed, the gentleness vanished.“You just could not stay in your place,” Pearl said softly. “Sovereign bloodline. First Dynasty. Do you practice these stories in front of the mirror until you believe them?”I kept my voice calm. “I did not come here to argue with you.”“No. You came because you thought my fiancé’s temporary fascination made you untouchable.” She stepped closer. “He still looks at you and sees a weak, unranked Omega he can keep on a leash. That is all you will ever be to him. A problem he has not yet decided how to discard.”I said nothing. Anything I spoke would be twisted and carried straight back to Asheron as pr
