~Gaston~

I almost pushed back when I heard the question. But knowing Wilbrae and how smart he is, he would notice even the rapid blink of an eye.

"What prophecy, Wilbrae?"

He takes in a breath before he replies. "Your mother and I stumbled upon a prophecy several years ago." He glances around the hall. "is it okay to speak freely here, Alpha?"

'Shut the doors,' I mind-linked Dion and Declan and they got to the task.

The hall was built to offer soundproofing once the doors and windows were shut.

"Speak, Wilbrae," I tell him once the doors get shut.

"The prophecy... it spoke of a Moon-made sent by the Moon-goddess. And this Moon-made will bring the two most powerful werewolf packs together and heal the land. But that's not all."

I find myself tilting closer to him at that statement. That should be all. That is all we know. If it's not all, then what are we missing?

Wilbrae brings his voice lower. "There will be war." He whispers. "The good witches will come back to finish what they st

~Carmen~When I reach the next intersection, I notice I’m not nearly as tired as before. Perhaps having Marielle with me was draining me of energy. Still afraid I won’t be able to make it all the way home and focused on simply leading Zegulf away from Marielle, I teleport over and over again. Not even thinking about the direction I’m going in. All I’m doing is picking the furthest object I can see and willing myself next to it. The lights of the city pass by me in a fuzzy blur as I run for what feels like hours, with my mark throbbing the entire time, as the knowledge that he’s still closely pursuing me, both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because I know he didn’t go after Marielle, and a curse because I'm gradually getting exhausted. I’m running myself haggard, past the point of exhaustion. Reaching a four-way intersection, I grab onto a pedestrian rail and lean against it to catch my breath. Should I stop here? I wonder as I sweep my eyes over the area around me. Is this

~Carmen~The pain is instant and excruciating. When the man in my dreams bit me, the pleasure I felt was orgasmic. Here, in reality, there’s only burning agony. A burning agony that makes me writhe beneath Oscar and scream. Rearing back, Oscar looks down at me in horror. He has just enough time to lift his fingers to his bloody lips and touch them in dismay before he’s tackled by Nolan, the vampire who has Marielle. The two roll away from me in a ball of hissing fangs and claws. My arm trembling, I lift my hand and gingerly touch the wound on my neck, yanking my fingers away when I feel a sharp, stinging sensation. Looking at my fingers, at my blood, makes my head woozy and my stomach twist. My mouth feels so dry as I slowly get to my feet. I don’t know if I want to puke or if I need a drink of water. Shaking the pain and haziness from my brain, I force myself to get a grip even with the pain. I still need to grab Marielle and get the hell out of this place before someone els

~Carmen~ My entire being is drawn to the door like an irresistible magnet. I turn my head to see the beautiful man from my dreams. His blue eyes staring back at me are all it takes to get my world turned completely upside down. Tall, with broad shoulders, and intense blue eyes, he’s everything I’ve ever imagined. So beautiful, the sight of him alone makes me want to just weep in admiration. My eyes drink in every detail of him as I convert what I know of the blurry-faced man into reality. His hair is short and messy, like he’s been running his hands through it. His face is so perfect, sculpted with high, sharp cheekbones and a strong, chiseled jawline, so perfect that it's hard to believe it wasn’t altered. However, his body is truly what calls to me. Beneath the jeans and black shirt he’s wearing, I know there’s a landscape of hard muscles. Besides, it's the same body that covered me and relentlessly drove me

~Carmen~Before I can decide which way to go, Dargo is on me, moving almost as fast as I did. "What the fuck?!" he snarls and slams me into the wall. All the air leaving my lungs, I gape at him as he pins my hands above my head. "How did you do that?" he demands. Struggling to suck in oxygen, I can only stare at him. Impatient for an answer, he repeats his question as a command. "How did you do that, Carmen?" I squeeze my eyes shut against the tugging behind my ribs to obey, noticing it is not quite as strong as before. "Carmen," he practically hisses and gives me a hard shake. "Answer me, right now." I don’t know if it is because I’ve already resisted his other commands, but the tug to obey him is even weaker now. So weak that it almost has no effect on me. Growing mad at the fact that I've refused to respond, Dargo starts to crush my wrists in his hands and roars, "How the fuck did you move so fast?!"The pain and the

~Carmen~Something wet suddenly touches my ear and my soul nearly leaves my body in fright. "You have no idea how bad I want to taste you," Dargo growls. "If I didn’t think I’d have to fight off my fucking ass baby brother who is raving mad for you too, I’d have you right here, right now." Shoving away from the bar, he roughly grabs my hand and begins to drag me toward the dance floor. Tripping after him, struggling to keep up, my head spins, and I get the crazy idea that he’s going to force me to dance with him. The thought is only reinforced when he comes to a sudden stop at the center of the dance floor. Then he slowly turns and says, "It took you long enough." Twisting around to see who he’s talking to, I watch Oscar stalk up to us. His hand is gripping Marielle's arm and dragging her like Dargo was dragging me. "The damn driver parked the car in the garage," Oscar says irritably when he reaches us. Dargo snorts as if that’s not a

~Carmen~Once Dargo tugs me past the front door, my entire being gets swallowed by darkness. There’s no light in the first space we walked into, not even a single trace to provide any relief. It is almost as if light doesn't exist in this part of the world. My eyes struggle to adjust, my brain expecting to see the faint outlines of what’s around me at any second as expected, but everything around me remains pitch black. It feels like I’ve suddenly been dropped into an abyss. It's so frightening.I can feel my feet moving across a floor and Dargo's cool hand gripping mine tightly. But as he leads me, my head spins. The loss of my sight has thrown off the rest of my senses. I can’t tell if we’re going forward, to the side, or backward. Struggling to get some sort of bearing, I miss a step and start to trip. Immediately tightening his grip until it is painful, Dargo pulls me into him. "Stay close, special one," he practically coos into my ear.
