Nyx Pov

Cold breeze splashed against my face, combing my hair in different directions as I ran as fast as my legs allowed. The beast chasing me wasn't moving like a normal wolf, more like a man in beastly form.

Its hinds thumped heavily on the ground. I could feel the vibration beneath my feet. Or was it the pounding of my heart?

I ran as fast as I could, but it was no match for a lycan. He grabbed my ankle and lifted me up, baring long fangs at me, before slashing its claw across my chest.

"Noo..."

My eyes shot open and I sat upright, scanning my surroundings. Sweat clung to every inch of my malnourished body as I placed a shaky hand on my chest, trying to steady the pounding of my heart.

Being human in a house full of werewolves was more than enough punishment for me, but fate still rewarded me with nightmares that made me wonder if my reality was a dream.

Suddenly, my room door pushed open, jolting my head up.

"You lazy bitch!" My mother's voice cut sharper than her slaps. She stood at the door, not daring to enter for fear of passing out from my stench. Or so she said. Her nostrils flared slightly as if confirming my thought.

Thank goodness werewolves can't read minds, my life would have ended a long time ago if they could.

"You lazy bitch!" she spat again with disgust all over her face.

"I... I was about to..." I stood up from my bed, my vision a bit blurry from yesterday's fast.

"Save it. Breakfast won't cook itself and it's already six o'clock. Your father has an urgent meeting with the Alpha this morning," she cut me off.

The universe forbids the beta's mate let the servants do their jobs. Of course they had more value than me. They were still omegas while I was just human.

"Yes, Mother." At least she let me call her that even though she wasn't my biological mother. She turned and left without another word. I stopped wondering who my real mother was a long time ago.

According to my stepmother, my father found me abandoned on the road side and took pity on me when I was three years old. My father on the other hand, said my mother ran away with another man right after giving birth to me. I grew up believing the later. Last year when I turned seventeen and still couldn't shift, everyone confirmed what they had only suspected — I was human.

I moved to join the omegas in preparing breakfast and doing the chores, hoping that I wouldn't run into my stepbrother, Cullen. He's the next Beta of Nightclaw Pack and my parents' golden child.

Beats me why the girls at school fawned over him more than they did the Alpha's son. Thankfully, I didn't run into him until I finished my chores.

The morning sun beat down on my skin as I rode my bike to school. Even though I was late, I still had a moment of peace, however fleeting. Among the rich kids that drove past me was the Alpha's son. The thought of him made my heart flutter.

By the time I got to school, my legs were already aching from pedaling too long. I chained my bike next to the others and made my way inside.

As I walked through the hallway, the familiar whispers and laughter welcomed me. Everyone looked at me as if I didn't belong here. Actually, I didn't, but they shouldn't make it so obvious. But no one dared approach me, not when my stepbrother was nearby.

Speaking of the devil, he was standing at the end of the hall with his group. The Alpha's son, Calix and daughter, Vesper stood facing him while Sera and Cade stood beside him. Cade was the future gamma while Sera was the girl who tried to fit into the circle.

Suddenly Calix turned around and my heart skipped two beat. He was so handsome. Nobody knew this but Calix had been my crush since forever. I mean, we do play together when we were little until everyone grew up.

His height and build were the first things to notice about him, but his chocolate eyes and full lips made me forget myself. I quickly walked to my locker and sorted out my books before I do.

I was still lost in arranging my locker when strong hand gripped my arm tightly. Fear leaped into me as Cullen came beside me.

"Why were you staring at Calix that way? Are you forgetting that you are mine?" he said in a low firm voice even though we were the only ones in the hallway now.

"I am not yours, Cullen. Let go of me before you create a scene." I gritted my teeth as the pain in my arm became unbearable.

"Create a scene?" He scoffed. "Says the one drooling over a guy way above her league."

"Let me go."

He brought his lips to my ear. "You're my property, Nyx. Never forget that."

He released my arm and strode away. I watched him go, dreading my fate. Did I ask for too much when I prayed not to run into him today?

First period was long and boring as usual but I needed it for my scholarship. Thank goodness it was almost time for second period. I get to meet Mira, my best friend. Totally joking. She was my only friend. And no, she isn't an omega or some lowly human, she's Sera's younger sister. Beats me why she hangs out with me and not her sister's group.

I sighted her immediately I entered the class.

"Hey girl," her face lit up the moment she saw me.

"Hey Mira." I took my seat next to hers.

"You look terrible," she said casually.

I knew I looked terrible. I have fate to thank for that.

"Wow, Mira, want to comment on my entire life while you're at it?"

"Oops. I mean, you're out of breath and your hair is all over the place."

I quickly brought out a hand mirror from my bag. Yep, my hair looks scattered. I forgot to fix it after I got off my bike. I quickly brushed the hair off my face.

"So, how are you preparing for the Crimson Hunt?" Mira said in a hushed voice. I was sure the teacher could still hear her.

I had completely forgotten about it. The yearly event lycans held to find their fated mates. What was my business with that? Alphas would give anything to have their daughters mated to a lycan. Lycans were rare and low in population, so they took finding their mates  seriously.

"That's hardly my business, Mira."

"Am I interrupting you, Miss Nyx?" The teacher's voice startled me.

"No, ma'am." Mira and I kept our mouths shut for the rest of the class.

Soon it was lunch break. As Mira and I walked to the cafeteria, I noticed the male students were staring at me a bit more intently than usual.

"Something's not right," Mira murmured, glancing around.

"Yeah, I see that." Did my boobs grow larger or what? It wasn't my fault I was cursed with big boobs.

I didn't think too much about it as I followed Mira to get lunch. We got our food and walked to the back of the school where we preferred to eat in peace.

"What was that about?" Mira asked. "The way they were staring at you?" She settled beside me a low rock.

"You tell me. Do I smell different or something?" Before she could answer, Sera and her minions appeared behind her.

"Look what the wind dragged in." Sera snarled, stalking towards me.

"Go away, Sera," Mira said, stepping in front of her sister.

"It's a shame you choose to hang out with this weakling instead of your own sister." Sera's eyes were filled with anger.

"I'm sure you'll get over it one day," I love Mira, but at this point I really wish she would shut up.

"It's okay, Mira. I'll just leave." I knew where this was heading,  students were already crowding around and I didn't want it to go any further. I stood to leave but Sera stepped in front of me.

"Not so fast, you filth. Isla here, said she caught you staring at Calix this morning."

Can't a girl catch a break? "Don't know what you're talking about." I tried to walk past her but she grabbed my hair and slammed me against the wall. I saw stars.

"You don't leave while I'm talking to you."

Her minions wouldn't stop laughing. What was so funny? Mira rushed forward to stop her but Sera was too strong.

I reached back and touched the spot where my head had hit the wall. My fingers came away wet.

I already knew it was blood. But my only focus was on the pair of blazing gold eyes watching from deep in the woods.

  • Rejected and Marked by the Lycan Prince    Disappointed

Third person POVFor a moment, the only sound in the hospital room was the steady beeping of the bedside monitor. Kyrell ignored Calix’s outburst and faced the pack doctor.“What is wrong with her?” Kyrell asked. The doctor straightened. “We’ve conducted several tests, but so far, we haven’t been able to identify what’s causing her condition. Her wolf seems to be unresponsive as well. I’m afraid we don’t have a diagnosis yet. I assure you we’re doing everything we can to save her, Alpha.”Kyrell furrowed his brow and nodded in response. The doctor left the room, and the nurses fell into step behind him.Calix’s voice cut through the silence. “You’re really going to stand there and act like you don’t know who’s responsible for her condition?” Calix’s jaw hardened as he glared at the man across from him.Kyrell ignored him and proceeded to type something into his phone.“Don’t you care about her at all? Your Luna is currently fighting for her life, and you’re not doing anything about it

  • Rejected and Marked by the Lycan Prince    She looked lifeless

Third person POV After Kyrell got off the phone, he went to his bedroom to take a shower. While getting dressed, he kept trying to reach Nyx by calling and mind-linking her, but there was no response. He concentrated on the bond, hoping for the faintest tug, but all he felt was a void. When he was done getting dressed, he got a call from Samiel. He wasn't surprised Samiel had gotten there in no distant time. Kyrell brushed every negative thought aside as his beta spoke at the other end.“Alpha, we've searched everywhere. There's no sign of her. Our hunters tracked her scent to the woods and found nothing but traces of blood and a burnt bush,” Samiel said over the phone.Kyrell had hoped, for his sanity, that Cullen was bluffing. The possibility of Cullen's words being true made Kyrell want to kill him all over again. “Keep searching until you find her. And don't report to me if you haven't.” Kyrell ended the call, jaw clenched.Nyx was still upset with him for leaving her, so she had

  • Rejected and Marked by the Lycan Prince    The last bargain

Third person POVKyrell got to the Quicksilver pack by midnight. His beta was already waiting for him in front of the packhouse, two guards standing behind him. The car barely came to a stop before Kyrell got down.“How did this happen?” Kyrell kept his voice even, but Samiel couldn't help taking a step back.“It's the Luna, Alpha. She said you told her to wait for you in your villa.” Samiel's grip on the tablet tightened. “I knew nothing of her plan to get to the underground prison.” Samiel knew that wasn't an excuse. He was supposed to keep an eye on Cullen while Kyrell was away, and he did. What he never expected was for Vesper to cut her stay in the Nightclaw pack short and demand the keys to the villa the moment she got back, or for her to free Cullen from the prison.“You know no one is allowed to go to my villa, Samiel.” Kyrell clenched his fist and approached his beta in slow steps. “Yet you gave Vesper the keys the moment she demanded them. You didn't think it wise to inform

NyxA splash of cold water struck my face. I jerked awake, choking as droplets ran down my cheeks and into my mouth. My eyelids fluttered open, but everything was a blur.“I wonder how she's still alive.” That was a male voice. My eyes burned as I tried to adjust to the brightness.“Well, she won't be for long,” a female voice replied. Vesper was standing in front of me; Mira stood beside her, holding an empty bottle of water, while Calix leaned, arms crossed, on a car.I scanned my surroundings, but all I could see beyond the people before me were trees and patches of grass and a cliff up ahead. I was sitting on the soil, my back resting against a tree trunk. Although I wasn't tied up, my entire body felt like dead weights when I tried to move.“I must admit, I wasn't expecting you to last this long, Nyx.” Vesper approached me in slow steps. “That pup of yours isn't as weak as I thought. It's a good thing we didn't take any chances.”Could it be that they had all planned this? Lure K

  • Rejected and Marked by the Lycan Prince    Someone from school

NyxI tried to keep my eyelids open and ask for an explanation, but I couldn't. Kyrell wrapped his arms around me, speaking softly into my ears until I the darkness engulfed me. This time, I welcomed it.I felt something warm against my thighs and shifted on the bed, slowly opening my eyes. My gaze fell on the bowl of water on the bedside table before moving to Kyrell, who sat beside me with a hand towel. He dipped it into the water and gently wiped my thighs."What are you doing?" I sat upright and gave him a puzzled look.Kyrell glanced at me, his eyes reflecting the sun. "It'll help with the tension." He kept the hand towel on the table and stood up."What do you mean?" There wasn't a hint of soreness in my muscles. If anything, I felt stronger."I thought I was a bit rough with you last night," he replied. My gaze immediately dropped to his bare chest, as he was wearing just his sweatpants. The events of last night suddenly slammed into me; only then did I realize I was completely

I was supposed to be angry at him, but all I needed was relief."You're untouched, do you want me to stop?" he murmured, dragging his hand down between my legs. I shook my head in response. "Words, love," Kyrell added. "No." My voice came out smaller than I intended.I didn't realize that Kyrell had already released my wrists until he got down on one knee while trailing kisses down my skin. He lifted my exposed thigh and placed it on his shoulder before taking off my underwear. Another wave of embarrassment surged through me, and I tried to cover my pussy. "Don't you dare." Kyrell's hoarse voice fueled whatever was aching in my pussy. I was already soaked, slick and swollen. I never thought that part of my body could do that. Kyrell groaned like the discovery physically hurt him. "Look at you." His fingers circled my clit, and I g
