Twenty eight

Sydney.

We got home very late, it was past nine pm. The horror of the silent yet sweet car ride was over and a part of me wanted it to continue still. I saw the boys footwear as we walked in, I knew they would already be home but the relief that I had when I saw the footwear was needed. I remembered how happy and excited the twins were. I exhaled for relief, things did turn around for the better.

"We are home in one piece." Alexander said and I nodded, I wanted to say the words believe me but nothing, I mean nothing came out.

"Yes, we are." I gulped as I replied. I gave a faint smile, I avoided eye contact for a while but I could feel his stares on me.

"It seems like everyone is asleep, I will check the- the kitchen for whatever dinner that was prepared and I will set the table." I said to him as I adjusted my bag strap, I tried to ignore the dress I had on but I loved how he looked at me.

"Yes, I noticed that too, I would appreciate that." He replied as he nodded, his eyes were on me
