Sydney's POV

"I can't wait for you two to do it tonight," Penny squealed.

I smiled to cover how nervous I was. "I know, right? I'm sure it'll be the most beautiful moment," I said as I hugged myself.

I would have been happier given it's Friday but since Penny and I started planning this, I've been a little on edge.

"Sweetie, I know you're scared. But that's why we didn't tell Luke. You know, so that you'd have the element of surprise." She swung her arms like it was a magic trick.

I shrugged. "I'm fine," I told Penny everything but this felt different. She wasn't going to be the one on white sheets with Luke so she wouldn't understand. I snapped out of it soon enough to notice we were at my house already.

"Eight pm. Remind your mom," Penny instructed sternly, then smiled.

"Better tell her yourself. You know how to charm her."

She looked a little skeptical then shrugged before leading me into the house. "Oh Mrs. Cambell," she sang as we went to my mom's personal kitchen.

"Hello dear," my mom smiled. It shook me every time she seemed so easygoing with my best friend. Even I don't get that side of her often. She was usually stone-cold with the servants, cracked a few smiles with my dad and just seemed like a blank page to me.

"…I think we can let Sydney out for tonight. When will you have her back?" I heard my mom say. My jaw almost reached the floor. How did Penny do it with this woman?

"Is ten okay?" Penny asked. Really, where did this girl get the guts to negotiate with the Luna of the York pack?

"Nine thirty is better. Have her back by then."

"Yes ma'am. Thank you so much." Penny beamed and left.

After some time, my mom said, "What's so interesting about that cupboard that I haven't noticed yet?"

Taking my eyes off a cupboard I happened to be staring at but didn't realize, I just went up to my room to deal with my nerves.

Hours later, it was almost five and I was the last person on the planet to be ready. I just couldn't decide on what to wear. It was Penny's birthday but I was more worried about my appearance than her gift.

Flashback

"Come to think of it, are you and Luke intimate yet?" Penny randomly asked during a quiet lunch. I almost puked out my food. Her eyes widened in surprise. "You aren't? Why not?"

I tried to appear unbothered although I cleared my throat like three times. "We just haven't gotten there yet."

"You guys have been dating for one year, six months, two weeks, and four days," she replied matter-of-factly. "Or are you scared to give him your V-card?"

I guess my expression was enough of an answer. But before she spoke again, I said, "It's no biggie. Just leave it."

She refused. "You know what? I can help. I don't even get why you didn't tell me this before. I can arrange everything for you on my birthday."

"But it's your birthday."

"Exactly. And that can be your gift to me. I mean you, you guys obviously love each other."

Flashback ends.

Looking back at that conversation, I didn't know whether to back out now, but we'd spent more time planning it than her actual birthday party. Taking a deep breath, I donned on the mini dress Penny bought me a month ago.

She was right. It hugged my figure perfectly and red was definitely my color. If I were a guy, I'd take me. By the time I was done dressing and checked my watch, it was already six thirty. I got down the stairs soon enough to hear the doorbell ring.

"Bye Mom. Don't stay up waiting for me," I said hurriedly as I pecked her and left. She was still going to wait for me.

"Did you peck her like I told you to?" Penny asked as soon as I closed the door.

"Yeah." I just hoped it'd work to calm her nerves.

"See? I've told you to be nice to the woman. It'll work magic on her and she'll make your dad cut you some slack."

I shook my head to block out her voice. When we were a little way from my house, she called an Uber. But midway into the trip, I noticed we weren't going to her boyfriend's house. "The party is at Jason's," I pointed out.

Her clenched fists didn't mirror her calm voice. "Don't worry about that. I'll tell you about it later. For now, let's enjoy the night."

We soon arrived at a club. My skin pricked me, my heels felt tight and my dress suddenly felt too revealing. I felt a little dizzy as she led me in. "But Luke doesn't know about this change in location," I tried to speak over the noise.

"Don't worry. I got it covered."

She did indeed because Luke soon came into sight. He handed us some drinks and settled his hand on my waist. "You look beautiful tonight," he whispered. Surprisingly I could even hear him. My words stuck in my throat, I just managed a smile and a nod.

I took some time to observe the disco lights and music. It was the kind of music I liked, just that it was a tad too loud for me. I gladly accepted the burning sensation the bear gave me. It came with some confidence too which washed away like water on a stone when I saw Penny in the crowd dancing on the floor. Luke was about to say something when I spoke first. "I need to get something from Penny. I'll be right back."

She was screaming, "Time to get wasted," when I got there.

"Not now," I growled as I dragged her away. "I'm too nervous, Penny. I can't do this," I admitted.

"Just get wasted then. The alcohol will keep you from actually seeing things," she said with what seemed to be an attitude. "Just do it and you'll be fine. I promise. But try to be conscious enough to make it to your special room," she added with a wink before leaving me.

Taking a deep breath, I got back to Luke, who smirked as his eyes roamed over me. "Didn't see you at school today. How come?"

I knew he was most likely just making conversation. Or maybe I just hovered around him too much and it was surprising I'd go a day without seeing him. Either way, I panicked before responding. "Penny and I were busy." He stared at me deeply but I was too distracted by the awkward silence and the noise of the club to notice how his eyes sparkled.

"You too are no fun," came Penny's voice. "Let's take shots. The first person to lose it owes the winner twenty bucks."

"You're on," Luke cheered.

"Oh, no. This is for Sydney and me. You'll be the judge."

I reluctantly agreed, not quite sure if she was helping me at this point. By the time I was three shots in, I tapped Luke. "Can you take me…outside?"

"Are you dropping out?" he asked. I thought I heard the disappointment in there so I shook my head — and it hurt. "No. You're on, Penny."

What felt like an eternity later, Penny whispered, "Take him to the room."

Nodding, I took Luke's hand. "Where are we going?" he asked.

I giggled, "It's a surprise."

We got to the room and I locked the door behind me. Surprisingly, he didn't ask any questions. But I didn't mind. Maybe he read my mind and knew I'd chicken out if I had to answer any questions. Taking off my dress in the sexiest way the girls in movies did it, I gulped. A thought threatened to stray in but I chased it away.

His hands took my underwear off and ran down my body. It felt good as my hands touched his bare chest. Before I could do any more discovering, his mouth took mine.

My eyes opened to see myself on the other side of a bed. I couldn't remember much but I knew yesterday was Penny's birthday and I was supposed to give Luke my virginity. When my hands felt my warm naked body, I smiled even though I couldn't remember much of it. Taking a deep breath, I turned to face him.

My heart sped. I was sure my death was near given the speed of my heartbeat and my shortness of breath. A sleeping tattooed man faced me. A man who wasn't Luke.

Two months later

I could barely see the room I was pacing in. It didn't matter anyway. I never told Penny about the mistake I made that night, and Luke didn't seem to notice anything either. Strange but it was better than having to explain how I slept with a total stranger.

But staring down at my hand, I didn't know which was worse: explaining my mistake or explaining my pregnancy.

Sydney's POV"You're pregnant?!" Penny was hysterical. I didn't bother to cover her mouth as she pranced on the park's lawn. "How did happen?""I don't know." I held my head in my hands."No, I'm serious. There were condoms in that room. Did you guys not use them?" Her voice rose as if she was blaming me."I don't know," I replied, feeling ashamed of myself.I didn't tell her I slept with someone else. Seeing her reaction to the pregnancy news, I didn't think she needed to know the rest."Well, finals start in one week. Focus on other things for now," she said breathlessly. But I didn't fail to hear her whisper, "How do you end up pregnant at eighteen?"Without a word, Penny left me to my thoughts. A part of me knew she was going to judge me. But she was my best friend and we didn't keep things from each other no matter how bad they were. I guess this was the one thing I would have kept to myself if I knew how to handle it.For one week, I didn't see Penny. She was always in school bu

Sydney's POVMy hurried jolt almost broke the door to the coffee shop. "Hey Albert," I greeted the doorman who eyed my disheveled self. Going straight to the pickup counter, the lady and I said in unison, "Order for Sydney." She and I smiled at each other. I hadn't realized how much of a regular I had become till this happened but I wasn't interested in it as I was in getting to work early.Since I came to my aunt Rosa in the Moon Rise pack and birthed my twins, it had been from one hard life to the other. Aunt Rosa didn't even try to be comforting at times. All she told me was about how life sucks and that I'd keep being a loser unless I picked myself up.FlashbackI woke up on the side of the road. My clothes were dusty and hair was messed up but I was thankful to see my bags intact. I found a public bathroom and washed myself as much as possible before going out to find my way.Not having the slightest idea of where I was, I took out my phone, which was thankfully on and used Googl

Sydney's POV"Where the hell have you been?" Jeffrey yelled when I came into view."I'm so so sorry. I couldn't get a cab so I had to get here-""I don't want to hear it, Sydney," he fumed."Let me just get to work on that dining table now. I'm very sorry," I apologized again. He snapped his fingers. "No, someone's already working on that." He took a tray containing a cup and bottle of champagne and handed it to me. "Serve the man this. He's in room 206. Since Cheryl is also running late, you'll be his personal server today instead of her."Noting everything important, I went in the direction of the room. But still heard him mutter, "What is wrong with these women?"I so wanted to break all the glass in this tray on his head. Unfortunately, I was too far already and it would be suspicious that I heard him from that distance. The city where the Moon Rise pack settled was also heavily populated with humans. If it weren't that way, the humans would get nosey. One of the many things I hat

Sydney's POV"Nicklaus, Asher, would you like to go on a picnic?" I asked my adorable boys."Yes, Mommy!" they chanted as I scooped them up.It had been so long since I spent some real time with my boys. Whatever that told Jeffrey that I needed a break should keep doing that. Maybe it was Alexander? No, not after the way I've been treated. A tiny hand wipes a stray tear off my face. "Why are you crying, Mommy?" my boys asked in unison."It's nothing loves." We got into Aunt Rosa's pickup truck which she let me use whenever she wasn't going anywhere."Where's the picnic at, Mommy?" Nicklaus kept asking but I didn't reply.Klaus was the bubbly of the two. And as much as he brightened my day, sometimes, I just couldn't deal with all that energy at once. Asher was the gloomy one. He and I related on so many levels. We arrived at the park and laid out the scantiest basket anyone there could have seen. But the moment those two saw apples, the whole world was complete for them.I watched the

Sydney's POVWhere could they have gone? I had searched the whole restaurant. The other customers were obviously pissed but fuck them."Excuse me, ma'am," someone said from behind me as I grabbed the keys to find my boys."Yes?" I answered, irritated."You haven't paid for your food," the waitress from earlier said as she pointed to the table we sat at. I grudgingly brought out some money, annoyed that she was wasting my time. I low-key blamed her for this. What kind of creepy stares at people so much but misses important details about them. Like children!I dashed out of the place and powered up the engine. They couldn't have gotten far, so I circled that neighborhood. My mind kept referring back to that first dream or was it a vision?'You should relax a little,' Reika suddenly said.'You choose the oddest times to try to be of help,' I snorted.'Just set your pride aside for once and look for them carefully.''You think I don't know what two short kids look like?' I barked.'That d

Alexander's POVMy hands gripped her rounded hips as she towered over me on my bed. But I couldn't see her face. Her hands crept up my chest. Her lips almost touched mine when I finally saw her face.My scream was stuck in my throat as my body sat up from my bed. Some rays of sunlight were already making their way into my room. Still unable to speak, my eyes darted from my immaculate white walls to the tiled floor. My head ached and I was low-key annoyed. This had been happening since I left her in that room. I felt guilty sometimes. The mark I gave her would prevent her from having another mate.'That's because she shouldn't have another mate,' Lyall growled.Rolling my eyes, I got out of bed and took a minute to look at my tired frame in the mirror opposite my bed. I must have slept off in my work clothes. Just as I turned to head to the bathroom, I saw those hazel eyes again.Since I rejected Sydney, I was restless. There was no reason to since I barely even knew her. But everywher

Sydney's POVI put my foot where the tires should drive on and just as I thought, I saw it and didn't want to run my foot over."I have places to be," he snapped. As if I didn't have places to be as well."Why did you give me a lift?" I needed to know.He frowned. "You could have said you didn't want it before getting in my car then."That bastard! As if he and his annoyingly handsome driver didn't try to run me down.'So his driver is handsome?' Reika growled."Thank you," I said reluctantly. At least he saved me the many breaths I would have lost if I kept walking. Removing my foot, I watched them leave, partly annoyed that he didn't acknowledge my thanks and that I saw his driver as handsome.'I thought you were shunning men,' my bitchy wolf said. SYDNEYMy phone's ringing alerted me about the time. It was very late. I pulled the device from my pocket and saw that it was Aunt Rosa that was calling me. I quickly wiped away my tears and cleared my throat so that my aunt would notice."Hey don't be mad at me I'll be home—" I was interrupted by a smaller voice, one that I was so damn sure that my sadist aunt would not have even if she got in an accident and had to do a surgery."I miss you a lot mom. When are you coming back?" Asher sounded as timid as usual."Oh my baby!" I had completely forgotten about them, and now I felt like a horrible mother. "I will be back home okay?" I cheered him up and I could only hear a whimper through the phone. I rose to my feet and headed in the direction of my house, but I had so many questions running through my mind.'With all these questions, will you find answers?' Reika's voice interrupted the train of thoughts.'I don't know if I will find the answers, but maybe you can help me out.' I stun

Sydney's POVOh my God.Oh my God.Oh my God!I rushed out of the car, panting. The car didn't hit the person but I couldn't see them nonetheless. What if I actually hit them? Oh, goddess Ciara.Getting to the front of the car, a woman was sitting on the road. I ran to help her up. Her purse and its contents were scattered all over the place. Helping her to her feet, I kept saying, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." She hissed as I helped her up. "Does it hurt?" I asked."Yeah. It's fine though," she said and smiled at me.Weird.I helped her into the car as my sons jumped out to gather her things for me. Thank goodness this was a lonely street so it was rarely busy. I argued that we needed to do something about her ankle but this woman refused over and over again.
