Ember Frost's POV

Everyone around me already had their werewolves living inside them; even Orion had his. I was the only one left without mine, but I’d never seen a werewolf before and had no idea what one looked like. My parents thought I’d be upset if they let me see their wolves, so they always kept them hidden from me. Because of this, I was constantly surrounded by people with their wolves, yet I’d never caught a glimpse of one, not even by accident. When I got home today, I planned to act extra cute and sweet, hoping to persuade them to let me see their werewolves finally.

Miss Giovanni's voice grew louder, snapping me back to reality. "The first phase of the transformation is the most excruciating and the easiest to fail. The only way to ease it a bit is to let it happen naturally; don’t try to force it. Once the first change is complete, the rest will be smooth sailing, and you'll become a werewolf who can shift at will."

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   Caught

Ember Frost’s POV"I didn’t! I didn’t mean... I mean," I stammered, desperately trying to explain myself. The more I tried to make it right, the worse it seemed to get, so I just clammed up, feeling utterly embarrassed.Juniper couldn’t resist. “Ha! Even middle school girls have more sense than you! Silly girl, haha! Ember, you always manage to surprise me.”I didn’t have the energy to respond to her, nor did I care. Duke George was now staring at us, his eyes wide, looking as if he might crush his coffee cup with his bare hands.“Your Grace... I—” I started again, but my words failed me. I turned to Orion for help. He seemed to be scrambling for the right thing to say to calm his father down, but before he could speak, the Duke’s hearty laughter suddenly filled the room.“That’s fantastic! Truly fantastic!” Duke George exclaimed, still laughing. “Thank you, Miss Ember. It seems my foolish son’s future is finally set. Now, when can I meet your parents? Have you set a wedding date yet?

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown    A Slip of the Tongue

Ember Frost’s POVOrion looked completely overwhelmed. He pulled me into a tight embrace, his words tumbling out in a rush. “We can’t keep this hidden any longer. Let’s tell everyone about us right now. Don’t worry about the King and Queen, I’ll take responsibility for everything. I’m not leaving you, and I’m not giving up on us.”“No… not like this!” Now it was my turn to act like a spoiled child, my tears falling uncontrollably, but the words got stuck in my throat.“What’s going on?” He gently took a handkerchief and brushed the wet streaks from my cheeks. “It’s okay. Let it all out. When you’re ready, we’ll talk.”I stayed there, letting myself sob in his embrace.Eventually, when I had settled down, all I wanted was to disappear. I had come in hopes of apologizing to Orion, but somehow, it ended up being him comforting me. I felt like a helpless child who had been refused his favorite treat!Juniper had been quiet until now, but she finally spoke, her voice full of mockery. “Ah,

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   The Confession

Ember Frost’s POV"Sorry, Miss, he's not here. He took some time off and went home.""He took leave?" I blinked in surprise."Yes, Miss." The guards at the checkpoint said "Sir Orion should be back later this afternoon.""I see. Thank you."The moment I heard Orion wasn’t in barracks, all the confidence I had built up started to crumble.“Don’t you dare back out now!” Juniper snapped sharply in my head. “I mean it—you’re not allowed to retreat!”“But you heard him,” I argued weakly. “He’s not even here. What do you expect me to do?”“Then go to his house!” she shot back. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten where Duke George’s mansion is.”“Do we really have to go that far?” I groaned."Of course, sweetheart! Let’s get one thing straight, little princess: this isn’t just some silly fight between you and Orion, alright? But hey, if you want everyone to think it’s really over, then don’t bother going. If you still care about him, go make things right. I’m not about to sit here and watch you

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   Facing It

Ember Frost’s POV"You know exactly where the problem lies, so why haven’t you dealt with it yet? It all started with secrecy, and it can end the same way. Why not just tell him the truth? Let Orion know who you really are, and inform the king and Queen about your connection with him. That’s the quickest way to end this."I shook my head firmly. "I can’t do that.""Why not?" she pressed. "You can’t ignore it; this is the simplest solution to all of it."As much as I hated to admit it, she wasn’t wrong. Her words made perfect sense. But still, why did it feel so difficult?"Of course you won’t. Too scared to face it, right? Keep running, if you want," Juniper scoffed, her voice dripping with contempt.I shut her voice out, pretending not to hear.Deep down, I knew she was right, but fear held me back. I couldn’t bear the thought of seeing the disappointment in the eyes of those I loved.“How pathetic,” Juniper mocked. “But let’s be honest, you don’t really have a choice, do you? Either

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   My Wolf

Ember Frost’s POV When I finally managed to open my eyes, I had no idea how long I’d been out.The night outside the balcony was pitch black, and the only light in the room came from a few flickering candles. The wax must’ve been mixed with herbs, because the room carried a strange blend of sweetness and something else, almost bitter.“Hello…?” My voice startled me. It came out rough and broken, like metal scraping against stone.I reached for the cup of water beside my bed and took a small sip. Even that simple act drained what little strength I had left, and I sank back against the pillow, completely worn out."How are you feeling now?" A cold, unfamiliar voice echoed through the room, sending a chill down my spine.I darted my eyes around in panic, searching for the source, but the room was empty."I'm not in this room, you idiot. I’m inside you." The voice sounded slightly irritated. "Honestly, do you skip biology class? How can you be so clueless?""No, I'm just... overwhelmed.

Ember Frost’s POV“My Princess, are you sure you’re okay?”I splashed water on my face and stared at my broken reflection. I wished for a smile to hide my worry. But the words wouldn’t come.Inside, I was unraveling. Every thought was tangled. My heart beat with pain I couldn’t hide. I was lost and broken.Could I really blame Orion for what happened? Did I have the right to be angry at him for not telling me everything?I tried to convince myself I did. After all, I was his girlfriend, and in a relationship like ours, there should be no secrets. But then I stopped myself. Was it fair for me to accuse Orion when I've also kept secrets?
