Rhea’s POV

Warmth was the first thing I noticed when I woke up.

Not the uncomfortable heat that had radiated from Koen’s body last night, but the soft warmth of blankets wrapped securely around me.

I opened my eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling for several seconds. I was back in my room.

I frowned. The last thing I remembered was sitting beneath a tree near the spring.

I had been talking to Koen about my training. About the freezing lake. About my mentor.

Then— Nothing.

My brows pulled toget

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   100. THE ESCORT

Rhea’s POVBy the time the carriage rolled over another uneven stretch of road, I had stopped paying attention to the scenery.I needed to pee.I had been trying to ignore it for the past half hour, hoping the convoy would stop soon, but every jolt made the discomfort worse. I shifted against the cushion and glanced out the window. The road ahead disappeared between thick rows of trees, with no village or roadside station in sight.Sandra looked up from the book resting in her lap. “Are you feeling unwell?”“No. I’m fine.”She studied me for a moment before returning to her reading.I lasted another five minutes.“Sandra?”“What is it?”I lowered my voice, though we were the only two people inside the carriage. “I need to use the bathroom.”She closed her book. “Then we’ll stop.”“I thought I could wait until the next rest station.”“How long have you been waiting?”I hesitated.Sandra sighed and leaned forward to knock against the carriage wall. “Driver, pull over at the next suitable

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   99. THE PARTING

Rhea’s POVI stared at the carriage waiting in the courtyard. Valcrest’s insignia had been carved into the dark wood, the familiar crest polished until it gleamed beneath the morning sun.For years, the sight of that symbol had meant home. Everything I had sworn my life to protect. Now, looking at it made something tighten painfully inside my chest.I was really going back. I tightened my grip around the strap of the small bag resting against my side.“Still time to change your mind.” Koen’s voice came from behind me.I glanced over my shoulder. He stood several steps away with his arms crossed over his chest, watching me with an expression I had learned was never as casual as he tried to make it appear.“I already agreed to return.”Koen walked toward me and stopped at my side. “I know.”“Then there’s nothing to discuss.” I looked away.Footsteps sounded across the courtyard when I turned, I saw Artavius was walking toward us.My entire body stiffened before I could stop it. There ha

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   98. ASSASSINATION

Brielle’s POVThe moment the door slammed shut behind me, I grabbed the nearest glass from the table and hurled it across the room.It shattered against the wall. The sharp crack barely touched the anger burning inside me.I reached for another glass, then stopped when I noticed how badly my hands were trembling.“Damn her.” The words came out through clenched teeth.I paced across the room, my heels striking hard against the floor.Rhea is coming back. After everything I had done. After I had finally gotten rid of her. After watching her leave Valcrest and disappear into Celestia, where she should have stayed. After finally believing that maybe, for once, I would have Artavius completely to myself. She’s coming back to ruin everything.“No.” I shook my head as though saying it aloud could somehow undo everything that had happened in that chamber.“No. No, no, no.” I pressed both hands against my temples. This wasn’t supposed to happen.Rhea was supposed to stay in Celestia. She was s

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   97. UNTIL THEN

Rhea’s POV I folded another shirt and placed it inside my bag. I had packed my belongings countless times before—for missions, patrols, training camps, trips beyond Valcrest’s borders. But this time, my hands felt strangely heavy. So did my heart. I couldn’t stop thinking about the promise I had made to the members of Pack Celestia. I had told them I would return with Koen and Sandra once the tribunal was over. That had always been the plan, but now, I had no choice but to break that promise. My fingers tightened around the shirt in my hands. I had only stayed in Celestia for a short time, yet somehow, the place had already grown on me, especially the people. I had only been away from them for a few days while staying in Drakhar, but I already missed them more than I expected. I thought I would see them again soon. When I left Celestia, I never imagined that it might be the last time I would see them for a long while. If I had known, maybe I would have stayed a li

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   96. RESTRICTIONS

Rhea’s POVI slowly turned toward Artavius. His eyes were fixed on me with an expression I couldn’t quite read. Brielle looked just as surprised by his interruption as everyone else, but she remained seated beside him, her face tightening as the attention of the entire chamber shifted toward us.Koen moved beside me, and before he could rise, I reached out and caught his arm.He looked down at my hand, then back at me.His jaw tightened. “Rhea—”“Celestia just won,” I whispered. That stopped him.I lowered my voice even further. “Don’t give anyone a reason to take that away.”For several seconds, Koen said nothing. Anger still burned in his eyes, but slowly, reluctantly, he settled back into his chair.I released him and turned toward Artavius.“The tribunal is over,” I said. “If you have something to say to me, then say it.”Artavius’s expression hardened. “This is not only about you.”A strange unease settled in my stomach.Zevran remained standing behind the council table, watching

  • Rejected for a Fake Luna   95. BECOMING ROGUE

Rhea’s POVI lifted my chin and stepped toward the center of the chamber. The reaction was immediate. Whispers broke out around the room, some too quiet for me to make out, but I didn’t need to hear the words to know what everyone was thinking.Commander Rhea Veris, Vanguard of Valcrest, was standing as Celestia’s final witness.I kept my gaze forward as I crossed the stone floor, refusing to look toward Valcrest again.I already knew Artavius was watching me. I could feel the weight of his stare with every step I took. When I finally reached the center of the chamber, I stopped and turned toward the council.Zevran sat at the highest table with Danika beside him, while the other Alphas occupied the seats arranged around them.Sandra remained behind me with Koen, and for some reason, simply knowing he was there made it easier to steady my breathing.Zevran leaned forward and let his gaze sweep across the chamber before settling on one of the council members.“For the cross-examination
