Chapter 2

The colorful lights on the amusement park slowly turned on, making the place more magical.

'I should be watching this with her. But now, I can’t because she’s lost!'

The man in black pants and shirt expressed his frustration by exhaling a breath harshly.

“You should not let her out of your sight,” he said slowly with the lady standing before him.

“I did but your kid is so stubborn! I asked her to stay, while I’m texting mom, and after a few moments, she disappeared!”

The man looked at her pointedly. “You’re chatting with your friends, Era. Again.” He looked around, still hoping to see his princess. If something happened to Kendall, Mirco knew this lady beside him would be on her knees, begging him to stop destroying her life.

“You better pray Kendall is safe. or else, you’ll be doomed,” he threatened, making her step back.

“B-but it’s not my fault--”

“Our engagement is off,” he cut her words and didn’t let her speak anymore. He walked past her shocked state, leaving her behind. But Era was desperate. She cannot lose him or their company will be gone.

“Mirco, you cannot do this to me! Kendall left without informing--”

“Don’t you dare blame my daughter! If you’re giving her enough attention, she would be out of your sight! I only asked you for a few minutes while I was in the bathroom and now she’s gone!” Mirco cannot contain his anger anymore. He could lose anything. But not his daughter.

People are looking in their direction but he doesn't care. He needs to find her. It’s getting darker. It’ll be harder for him to find her daughter.

He turned around, looking at the sea of people. He was scanning every kid in his sight when it landed on a woman wearing denim shorts, a white shirt, and had mermaid hair.

Mirco was frozen on his post. It’s like he saw a ghost. But maybe he is. Because she is a ghost from his past.

Their eyes met. The noise of the amusement park was suddenly muted. His eyes were glued only to the woman carrying his child.

After searching for her for years and staying out of the grid, she now showed up when he's not even looking for her.

Suddenly, a flashback replayed in his mind…

He clenched his jaw and hurriedly went in Klynne’s direction.

***

Klynne almost went to all of the places in the amusement park. Her limbs are numb from walking while carrying Kendall. But every time she will look at Kendall’s face, it somehow pushes her to continue. To help this angel and find her father.

She was about to walk to the Ferris Wheel when her phone rang.

“Finally!” She heard Barry say. “Sam, are you okay? It’s almost dark but you didn't come back.”

She bit her lip. She completely forgot about Barry and Calvin!

“Sorry, Barry. I think my phone was on the do not disturb mode, thus I only saw your call now.”

A sigh of relief was heard on the other end. “Calvin and I are worried. Where are you? We’re coming.”

I looked around for a landmark so we could easily find each other. “Let’s meet near the carousel, Barry.”

“Okay. I love you.”

He didn’t wait for Klynne’s response and hung up. She sighed.

Klynne took a step forward to the carousel when she heard two people arguing. She could not see their faces but by just seeing their accessories, she knew that these people are filthy rich.

“Mirco, you cannot do this to me! Kendall left without informing--”

“Don’t you dare blame my daughter! If you’re giving her enough attention, she won’t be out of your sight! I only asked you for a few minutes while I was in the bathroom and now she’s gone!”

It seems to her that they are a couple, and might be arguing because Kendall was lost. Klynne wanted to move forward, but she unconsciously stepped back, tightening her hold to Kendall. But before she could move backward, The man already turned in their direction. He has a clean cut, cold brown eyes, a perfectly molded nose, well-shaped lips...

Their eyes met. Her heart pumped against her chest as Klynne felt like she was falling into the abyss of emotions in his eyes. She felt different emotions by just his gaze she couldn't name. She was confused for a moment before slowly, the soft features on his handsome face were changed into a harsh one--anger.

He hurriedly went in their direction. Her heart was beating faster in her chest as if she’s a kid who was caught doing something she should not. Immediately, Mirco snatched Kendall out of her arms who was still sleeping. As if Klynne is a kidnapper who will do bad things to the innocent kid. She wanted to protest, but she understood. Maybe the man was just worried. But still!

'The kid just fell asleep and is exhausted from the happenings! You must be at least careful of the child!'

He looked at her dangerously. If only look could kill, she might be on the ground already.

“Don’t tell me what to do with Kendall. You’re no one for us.”

Her eyes widened. Did she just blurt those words out? She knew that she was a stranger to him, but he must not be that rude to her! She's just helping!

“I’m just trying to help--” she explained but the man did not let her finish.

“Don’t you dare take my child away,” he warned her. “Stay away from us.”

Klynne frowned. She’s not a kidnapper! She’s just trying to help and this is what she got! Also, why is this man looking at her with anger as if she wronged him for life? She just met them! If she wanted to take away his child, she shouldn’t have wasted her energy looking around!

And, ‘Stay away from us?’ What is this man saying? She doesn’t even know them and this could probably be the last time they will cross paths!

Not unless they knew her—

“Momma!” Calvin hurriedly ran towards her and hugged her thighs. Klynne instantly forgot the situation as she messed with his hair. Behind Calvin was Barry who looked at her with relief.

“We’ve been looking for you, Sam.”

Klynne wanted to explain but felt that the atmosphere became heavier. She looked up to the man in front of her to find him murderously looking at Barry who carried Calvin in his arms. Barry seems to notice the way the man in front of them looked at him but played it cool. Which Klynne was somehow thankful for.

She looked at Kendall then back to Mirco. She was about to say something when Barry placed his hands on her waist, pulling her closer to him.

Both Klynne and Mirco looked in Barry's direction surprised because of what he did.

“Is there a problem, Hon?”

Klynne glanced at the man in front of them who tightened his jaw while looking at them. She even saw him glance at Calvin a few times. She wanted to ask the man what is his problem, but chose to be silent. She wanted to protest because of the treatment she received but it will only make things worse.

She looked at Barry and shook her head. "Nothing. I just--"

"Alvien." Suddenly, the woman who's been arguing earlier to Mirco showed up, cutting Klynne's sentence.

The woman didn't receive a response from Mirco. Instead, Mirco intertwined his hand with the woman and looked at her eyes, as if he's proving a point but she couldn't get it. The man then pulled the woman away, without saying any words. Not even a word of gratitude.

Klynne watched their backs as they walked away until she could not see them anymore. Klynne then felt something heavy on her chest.

"Sam, are you really okay?"

She nodded but Barry just worriedly looked at her as she stared at the direction they went gone.

Calvin who was busy looking at the lights on the place earlier moved closer to her, while he was still carried by Barry. She then felt his small hands on her cheeks.

"Momma, why are you crying?"
