Chapter 6

Klynne’s head was throbbing when she woke up. She was massaging the side of her head when she realized the unfamiliar scent of the room that entered her nostrils–it smelled sandalwood perfume. She wandered her eyes around the room as she absorbed her surroundings.

The room has white walls with wooden furniture and accents on the sides and corners. In the middle of the wooden  ceiling is a huge fan rotating. One side of the room was covered with a thick curtain making the room look darker. It reminded her of vacation houses she watched in movies.

‘This is definitely not my room,’ she thought to herself. Her room was pastel pink with soft and cute aesthetic stuff. Totally the opposite of this room that’s too manly for her. But how did she get in that room? And whose room was it?

Klynne tried to remember what happened before she got there. She was waiting in the lobby… She saw Mr. Cortel and tailed him in hope that she could talk to him or at least to Kendall… and then there’s a van… and a few masked men.

She was abducted… Flashback of uncleared vision from her nightmare resurfaced. There are masked men too… They are laughing… Their lips are parting like they are saying something but she couldn’t understand.

Fear started to consume her. She unconsciously hugged her knees while her eyes were closed, tears streaming on her face.

Are these men the same men in her nightmare?

“Hmm, Hmm,” she started, humming to the tone of her music box.

Hearing the tone inside the room, her body started to calm down. She hummed until she was able to open her eyes, her system felt  safer.

She breathed out an audible one and wiped her tears. Her mind is in a clearer state than before.

She needs to get out there. But a question in her mind was voiced out. “What am I doing in this kind of room if I am kidnapped?”

Klynne played the last thing she remembered in her mind and she stopped by what she heard from a masked man who was having a conversation with his companion.

‘Boss only wants his wife, but that might talk.’

Wife? Is it the reason why she’s in that kind of room? But she doesn't have a husband yet!

She could only think of Barry, but they are not even engaged to begin with. Did they wronged her for someone else?

But for the very least, she’s thankful that she’s still alive. She wondered what happened to the driver of the cab. He’s just doing his work. She asked him for a favor which he agreed to. But now, she’s not even sure if the man is still breathing. She hoped he was fine and nothing serious happened to him. But by the way his kidnapper talked, it looks like they’ve been doing this work for a long time.

She breathed through her mouth as she tried to calm herself.

‘Nothing happened to the driver. He’s safe,’ she convinced herself.

By the time she believed her lie, she got out of bed and decided to think of herself.

She was about to go to the door to check it when it opened and showed the face of the man she didn’t expect to see in this situation. Her lips parted in surprise.

“Mr. Cortel?” she said, confused.

She was the one tailing him but he was the mastermind of her abduction?

“How…?”

She didn't know what to feel. If it is relief, fear or hatred.

Relieved because at some point, she felt that he wouldn't hurt her for unknown reasons. Even though she heard a lot of bad opinions about him when he asked around, for her, it seems like he was not like that.

Fear, which was still in her ever since that night. What happened that night was horrifying. She doesn't want to experience that again.

And growing hatred because he let her suffer like that. Is this his revenge for following them? Is it some game to scare her? Is this his way of fun?

If it is real, then, she’s now face to face with the ruthless billionaire.

“Mr. Cortel.”
