Prologue
“Hmm,” the man beside her moaned as she tried to remove his arms around her. Instead of giving her freedom, he caged her more in his arms as he sniffed on her neck.“Mirco,” She called softly but he did not say anything. She stayed still as she listened to his breathing until it was even. He must not woke up just yet. Not when she's still there. Overtime, his embrace loosened little by little, indicating he had fallen asleep once again. She immediately took that opportunity to remove his arms around her—slowly and achingly. How she wished she could stay longer in his arms, feeling his warm skin against her, smelling his scent, and hearing his gentle snores. But she could not. With the things going on, she doesn't think it’s best to be with him anymore. Yes, she loves him very much. God knows how much she does. But everyone is against their relationship, especially the mother of her beloved. And that’s not just the problem. Chapter 1
The sun was peeking through the glass of the car. It was a bright Sunday morning, yet the road was already in a bustle.“Look at that!” Calvin said in amazement while staring at the huge Ferris wheel, miles from them. She chuckled at his excitement. He was sitting on her lap as he turned from left to right, scanning the busy city. His eyes sparkled every time he saw huge buildings. They seldom went to the city, but finally, after 4 years, Kervin decided that they should stay here in Manila for good. His company is growing, and his busy schedule doesn’t allow him to travel for long. “Four hours could be spent with more memories with you two, instead of driving back and forth,” she remembered him saying. He’s such a good, intelligent, sweet and caring man, and yet, she couldn’t understand why the mother of Calvin left her brother. Calvin was still a kid when his mother left them, according to him. She wanted to know whst happened, but she ont want to bother her

Chapter 2
The colorful lights on the amusement park slowly turned on, making the place more magical. 'I should be watching this with her. But now, I can’t because she’s lost!' The man in black pants and shirt expressed his frustration by exhaling a breath harshly.“You should not let her out of your sight,” he said slowly with the lady standing before him.“I did but your kid is so stubborn! I asked her to stay, while I’m texting mom, and after a few moments, she disappeared!”The man looked at her pointedly. “You’re chatting with your friends, Era. Again.” He looked around, still hoping to see his princess. If something happened to Kendall, Mirco knew this lady beside him would be on her knees, begging him to stop destroying her life. “You better pray Kendall is safe. or else, you’ll be doomed,” he threatened, making her step back.“B-but it’s not my fault--”“Our engagement is off,” he cut her words and didn’t let her speak anymore. He walked past her

“Samantha is waiting in the lobby again.”Mirco stopped what he was doing as his secretary and also his best friend, Travis entered his office. They knew each other ever since they were in high school. Travis was a scholar from their school. Everyone wanted to be friends with Mirco that time except for Travis. He’s avoiding him. One day, he confronted him. Travis helped him realize that his circle of friends was just using him because of his family wealth and connection.Travis told him he doesn’t want to be one of those people who’s treating Mirco like a host, while they are getting every benefit they could have. Since that day, he pretended that they were bankrupt. Everyone left him. Except for Travis, who finally approached Mirco.“Let her,” he said simply and returned to checking the blueprint in front of him.“She was waiting until midnight yesterday and the other day. I told the guard to tell her to leave.”Mirco smirked. “We knew what she wanted. I wo

Chapter 6
Klynne’s head was throbbing when she woke up. She was massaging the side of her head when she realized the unfamiliar scent of the room that entered her nostrils–it smelled sandalwood perfume. She wandered her eyes around the room as she absorbed her surroundings. The room has white walls with wooden furniture and accents on the sides and corners. In the middle of the wooden  ceiling is a huge fan rotating. One side of the room was covered with a thick curtain making the room look darker. It reminded her of vacation houses she watched in movies.‘This is definitely not my room,’ she thought to herself. Her room was pastel pink with soft and cute aesthetic stuff. Totally the opposite of this room that’s too manly for her. But how did she get in that room? And whose room was it?Klynne tried to remember what happened before she got there. She was waiting in the lobby… She saw Mr. Cortel and tailed him in hope that she could talk to him or at least

Chapter 7
“We lost them,” Travis said with a grin, after looking at the side mirror.Mirco shook his head. They had been joining race car driving ever since college. He was sure Travis missed those moments too, that's why when he had the opportunity earlier, Travis didn’t bother to step on the gas and drive the car at full speed. Luckily, they weren’t chased by the police. “Maybe we could race again. Sunday, what do you think?” Travis asked as he stopped in front of the stop light. “Let me talk to Kendall, first.” “Sure,” Travis agreed immediately. He loves that kid too. If they need to choose, he was sure they both would rather go shopping with Kendall than race driving. “Kendall should know about her,” Travis opened up after a long silence between them. He knew he should not mind his business, but he doesn't want his best friend to make a wrong decision and regret it sooner. What will happen if Kendall soon finds out? He waited for

Chapter 8
Klynne looked at herself in the mirror. The white floral dress perfectly fits her. After changing her clothes, she went out of the room and saw a hallway that directed her to a receiving area, next to it was the dining area. She saw the secretary preparing the utensils while still wearing an apron over his long sleeve. Travis must have sensed her thus she threw his head up to meet her gaze. “Good morning,” he greeted. “Good morning, Mr. Travis. I’m really confused right now. What was happening?” Travis laughed at the way she addressed him. “Samantha, c’mon. We’re still friends after all. Stop acting like we’re strangers to each other.” She moved closer and looked at the dish he’s preparing. She felt her mouth watering just by the smell of the food. She shook her head a little to focus on what Travis was saying. “But you’re a stranger to me.” Travis stopped on what he’s doing to examine her. He sig

Chapter 9
When Klynne found out that she was in a safe house, she didn’t imagine that it would be a house in the middle of the woods, and there would be a lake near it. It was too early when they woke up that fog could still be seen, while streaks of sunlight were peaking from tall trees. The magnificent view instantly gave her a relaxing feeling, especially when she let the fresh cold breeze of air come into her lungs. For a moment, she thought she’s in a different world. Klynne brushed her shoulder while her other arms were holding a small thermos, she saw in the kitchen earlier. If she only knew that the atmosphere outside the house wasn’t as warm as in the house, she should have gotten at least something to cover herself. She looked all around the house but didn’t find him, thus, she tried to walk farther. She saw the wooden dock near the lake that seemed tempting to sit on, but she needed to find Mr. Cortel first. That way, she could tell him about the music box. Klynne wandered around t
