Chapter II

False History Part 2

Revi VI's POV

I heard a knock on my room's door and saw it open. "Argh, Revi. Your room is as messy as always." It was Stellan's voice.

My lethargic self looked at him. I'm confused for a bit. "W-when did you wake up?" There's something in me . . . which I cannot explain. There's a feeling in me that Stellan should be asleep, or maybe I'm just hallucinating. I guess this is the consequence of pouring out my energy yesterday. I played overtime.

I closed my eyes. "Revi, it's almost noon." After hearing his voice, I tried to sleep again. I . . . want to rest. After playing a lot of games with those kids, I ran out of energy.

"Revi, let's play!" Agh, here we go again. I want to refuse, but I don't have the energy. Play alone, Stellan, play alone.

"Revi, let's play, please? This is my last day in this town. After this, I'll go back to the palace." Stellan continues pulling me out of bed.

Stellan is always like this. Ever since we met, after I found him alone in the street, he started insisting me to play with him, at full energy. That didn't make me hate him, actually, I just had few friends, I'm happy to have him as a friend. Thus, hating him makes no sense. He's the grandson of the king after all.

At first, we didn't know that he's a prince. When he told it to us, my father never reacted. The first thing I thought was the neighbors might label us as kidnappers. I never wanted it to happen but I have nothing to do but to agree with my father, he decided to let Stellan live with us in the meantime.

Stellan successfully pulled me out of my bed. I thought of fighting him but I think that's a wrong decision. I might fall down the stairs for another time.

I fixed my hair as my mother came into my sight. "Revi, you had a long dream, eh?" she welcomed me with those words. I nodded, I don’t want to talk. "Your father went to the ministry again. My eyes widened when I heard what my mother said.

Because of what she said, I immediately went out, hoping that Father is still not far away. That old man, tsk, he never bid any goodbyes to me.

As I walked outside the house, I shifted my gaze to both sides. On my right, I saw my father  walking away. "Father!"He gazed at me. I smiled, I thought he wouldn't look back at me. "I want a chicken for supper!" I raised my hands and waved them in the air. He just smiled and walked again.

My stomach growled so I went inside our house again. I saw Mother smiling at me. I have to avoid her, she might pinch my cheek again. "Revi, your room is messy. Clean your room after you eat, huh?" I forced a smile and picked up the potatoes. Then, I ran out.

I'm too lazy to clean, it’s so exhausting and . . . I hate dust.

Then I just noticed that Stellan was left outside, it didn’t follow me when I went inside to get a potato. I grabbed its hand and ran.

"Revi! Come back here" I heard my mom. I'm sorry, I don't really want to clean up my room. "Argh! I'll tell this to your father!" I just laughed at Mom’s scream. She’s obviously stressed.

They said, I'm the naughtiest but the smartest. I don’t know why they said that. Maybe because I'm only five years old I already know a lot. I can't believe it, I don't even have any talents. I only know a lot because my father is a professor.

Dad always goes to ministry. I don't know why. All I know is, that’s for the dynasty. I would be happy if we could get out of this island, but it seems that it’s not.

"Dion, Fritz, Leones!" I called my friends. I saw them in a corner. That's not our hide-out, we don't have a hide-out. I don’t know why they are in the corner.

While still holding Stellan's hand, we went to where they were. They didn't hear me when I called them so we just went to where they were.

Stellan was quiet, or maybe I need to get used to it. It seems like he is serious in life but when he plays, he might be the happiest person in the world. I just have to understand since he grew up in a palace that is luxurious and alive.

When we got close to our three friends, I noticed that Leones was crying again. Parhaps his father scolded him again or maybe he was bullied. "You're crying again?" I asked.

He raised his head and looked at me. "M-my father shouted at me. He said that I'm a loser. H-he said t-to be like my b-brothers, be useful. I-if not, H-he will make me join the military when I-I’m already 15 years old, "he said.

Nowadays, almost no one wants to join the military because they are afraid to rush out of the island. They are afraid of Madreign. If anyone dared, perhaps they want to raise their standard of living and live in a mansion in the Royals Subdivision.

If I couldn't get out of this island, if Dad couldn't, I would join the military. However, they don’t accept five years old kids. Trainees must be 15 years old or above. I need to wait more years. Maybe I’ll train myself while waiting, that would be a nice move to make.

I sighed. "Once we're already out of this island, you won't be experiencing it again." I looked down. Once we get out of Atolon, no one will experience this again.

Fritz slapped me. "You can't go out of the island, Revi. You are just out of your mind." I gritted my teeth. Even though they are two years older than me, I didn’t give them permission to slap me just like that.

Dion facepalmed. I looked at Stellan, he stayed quiet. "There are a lot of enemies outside, Revi. Madreign won't let us live in peace if ever," Dion spoke. If only Madreign didn’t exist, then maybe we are already free. We have been confined to this island for several years. There was a chance for the others to come out, they were given a chance, but no one came back.

"I know. That's why we need to surpass them. Do you want outsiders to oppress us for another time?" This time, no one answered me. They all stayed silent. "I know they told them stories about the past, deceived other nations, and erased the true events. They created false history and spread it everywhere. Going outside won't be that dangerous if people know nothing about history." I clenched my fist. I tried to reach the sky using my hand. "We will be free. . ."

Chapter XXIXIs Everything Really Well?I never looked at her, and instead clenched both my jaw and fists. Tears attempted to escape my eyes, but I tried my best to prevent it. Not now. I can’t cry now.“I saw what happened, Revi.” I could sense she’s upset. And so am I. She’s one of us. Rory’s a Cidgian. She should be angry towards the victors. But look, here she is, taking their side—justifying what they did because it was “eons” ago.As I breathed heavily, she spoke again. “I understand your animosity but—”“No!” I screamed. “You don’t understand my hatred! You never did! Because if you do, you wouldn’t be so upset at me right now.”"I certainly do!" Her tone was solemn. "But those Madreese you were unleashing your rage on aren't to blame for their ancestors' misdeeds!"She exhaled a sigh. "It must have been difficult for you to believe that 'we,' our civilization, were imprisoned in dread as a result of what occurred in the past. You must not, however, generalize or criticize some

Chapter XXIXLittle Girls Part 2“Can you . . . at least listen to my grief?” She slowly looked at me.For some reason, I found myself in her. Since my mother's death, I've had a void in my heart that I've been unable to fill, no matter what I or they do. In spite of the fact that they were patient with my rants and my fury, I was still lonely. I wanted to tell 'them' how much I was hurting and how much I was angry, because I felt so isolated. I’m simply talking about Madreese, including this girl in front of me. And my common and obvious reason why was because they raided my town.Inquiring minds want to know . . . In the end, it wasn't about retaliation; it was about retribution for what they had done to me. Or is there something else going on that I'm not aware of? Why do I want to destroy?“Fine,” I said even though it was against my will.On the rooftop, which was off-limits, I accompanied her. There was no one there.Unlike the storage room, the place was wide and bright, althou

Chapter XXVIIILittle GirlsTeacher Rory nodded as I stared at her without uttering anything. “We came from the same nation, Renata, but the only difference was I grew up here and you grew up on the island.”She sighed. “It’s surprising, I know, but I’m letting you know this because I want you to trust me.”Trust. This woman was basically asking me to trust her just because we share the same history of ancestors, but who knows if her mind was already corrupted?I stayed silent. I shouldn’t let my guard down. I shouldn’t trust her. No matter what, I should stick to my fake identity. I’m not a Cidgian. I’m not from Atolon. I am a Madreese. I was from Delural. That’s what I should be in front of their eyes.“People forgot about us, Revi. It’s upsetting that the government hid a sin and we didn’t even have a chance to punish them. They moved on, continued spreading chaos, and proudly raised their flags in wars as we—or shall I say you and your fellows that are hiding in the island, living

Chapter XXVII Walking Paradox Part 2 I went back home quietly as Father was peacefully sleeping in his bedroom. I better not wake him up. Hoping to end this all, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep without having nightmares or hallucinations. Hours passed, and I wasn’t able to go back to sleep. My body never had the urge to rest, so I spent the hours staring at the lonely luminous moon. Although I didn’t sleep again, I found myself never being restless. It was strange yet I was thankful for it. When the sun started to rise, I did my morning routine without waking Father up. I also cooked my own food and went to the storage room for some potatoes. Then, I went to the river once ag

Chapter XXVIWalking ParadoxI tightened my grip to the medal as I stepped forward to watch the river. It was past midnight, and I just woke up from having that unexplainable, confusing, and strange dream I had. I didn’t have any good feelings about it. It might be something my creative mind created or it might also be a message from the gods. But as much as I wanted to believe that she’s a god, a part of me said it’s ridiculous. I’m still a kid after all, with a strange mind.I decided to take a walk outside, not minding the possible dangers during night. The gloomy and dark sight of my bedroom was creeping me out somehow, and I wanted some peace of mind as it was giving me constant nightmares and hallucinations. And I knew the beauty of nature will hel

Chapter XXVUnvalued Medal Part 2As far as I could remember, when I was a year old, we used to live there with Babu but the moment I celebrated my 2nd birthday, we moved to Rajanseth for some unkown reasons. Babu was left there alone until I turned three, he decided to stay with us until the last moments of his life.We never went back to the palace, and lived normally like commoners in Rajanseth and still receive a special treatment. The palace was kept hidden under the care of the Royal Family. Only Father and the king knew where it was.I sighed and went inside the house. There I saw Father in the living room, reading a lot of documents. “Father, I’m home,” I said.Even though I knew he wouldn&rsquo
