Going To The City

Lany immediately slipped out of the alpha's arms and suddenly felt embarrassed. Then she just sat down on the ground and rested deeply.

"W-Who are those alphas and betas?" Lany asked the alpha who's next to her.

"The leader of those who are chasing you is Mondrei. And the leader of those who intercepted them is Chadrick."

"I… I heard that," Lany replied in a low voice. But that's not what she wanted to know, so she turned again to the alpha. "What I mean is..."

She didn't finish what she wanted to say when the alpha next to her suddenly spoke.

"Mondrei is a ruthless and greedy alpha from the Night Walkers Pack. He's so obsessed with showing the world how strong and powerful he is. His hobby is to go into the camps of another pack and kill all the alphas and betas who are members of it. And he takes the omegas to make them slaves in their camp," the kind alpha explained.

"That... That's what he did to us." Lany's voice was almost trembling.

"That's why they're after you to take you to their camp and make you into their slave," the alpha next to Lany continued. "Chadrick is the second in command of the New Moon Pack. Second of the strongest alpha in this territory. And the only territory that Mondrei didn't dare to attack. So you're lucky to get in here. And if ever they accept you here, for sure, you'll be safe here."

Lany was slightly taken aback by what she heard.

"If... If ever they accept me? Does that mean there's a possibility that they won't accept me here?"

"Yes. As Chadrick said earlier, whoever enters here suspiciously, will never come out of here alive."

Lany suddenly felt nervous.

"I'm Jeric Jones. If you want, I'll take you to the city. There, you can live without thinking about your safety. My place is secured and no one can hurt you there," the alpha offered the omega as he held out his hand to her. "How about you? What's your name?"

"I'm Lany. Lany Barnes," the omega answered immediately and she responded to Jeric's handshake. They stared at each other for a moment as their eyes met.

"Take your time to think about my offer," Jeric said after averting his eyes.

"I... I need to go back to my parents," Lany replied after suddenly remembering her parents. She was wondering if they were still alive. Or maybe that heartless Mondrei already did something to them.

Then she turned around and headed back to the place where she left her parents. But Jeric suddenly stopped her.

"Wait! Don't act rashly. It's too dangerous if you go back there now. Mondrei and his soldiers might not have left that place yet," Jeric immediately said to Lany who was now crying.

"But I need to see them. I want to know what happened to them," Lany said tearfully as she tried to get away with Jeric's hand.

"Okay, okay. We'll go there." Jeric didn't argue with Lany anymore and made a promise to her. Although this is not usually his style. He just have to let her go there alone but something bad might happen to her. And it's a burden of his conscience.

Lany suddenly looked at the alpha who's with her as she couldn't believe what she heard from him. She suddenly felt hope that she would see her parents again. She feels that the alpha next to her is stronger than Mondrei who tried to get her and killed every member of their pack.

"Wi-Will you come with me?" Lany asked while staring at the alpha.

"Yes, I will."

Jeric did keep his promise to Lany that he would accompany her back to their camp where she left her parents and other members of their pack while being attacked by Mondrei's soldiers and the Night Walkers Pack.

When they got there, there was almost nothing left in the whole camp. Houses were destroyed and small huts were also burned by the enemy. Dead bodies were also scattered everywhere but Lany just ignored them. What's important to her now and only on her mind is to find her parents.

They already searched the whole corner of the camp, but they couldn't find them. Even their bodies, in case Mondrei had already killed them.

"I think they are still alive and Mondrei took them as a hostage," Jeric said after they searched the area but they found nothing.

"Why? What do they need from us?" Lany asked in astonishment after sitting down due to weakness.

"What is the reason they did this to you?" Jeric can't figure out what's happening as well.

"That Mondrei is really crazy! He should get ready! I'm going to take revenge for what they did to my parents and to the whole pack. And if they do have my parents, just wait for me. I'll kill him myself and save my parents," Lany said aloud as she burst into tears.

"Mondrei thought of something, that's why he took your parents. You escaped from them and you got into the territory of the New Moon Pack. He must be thinking that you might ask for help and come back for revenge," Jeric explained after thinking about that possibility.

Lany was stunned and felt even more weakened when she realized that Jeric has a point on what he said.

Then she remembered what her father said. That she need to survive and find her mate who will protect her at all times. And will serve as her power in revenge on Mondrei and the entire Night Walkers Pack for the massacre that they did to the entire members of their pack.

But where and how will she find her alpha mate? Then she looked at Jeric and their eyes met. They stared at each other for a few seconds, but she then averted her eyes.

"I… I'll come with you to the city," Lany said seriously after she averted her eyes from Jeric.

Jeric was stunned by what he heard and he even looked at the omega next to him.

"Y-You asked me earlier if I wanted to come with you to the city," Lany continued when she heard no answer from Jeric. "C-Can I stay with you for a while until I find my mate and get revenge on Mondrei and the entire Night Walkers Pack?"

"Sure. No problem," Jeric answered immediately when Lany spoke again. He didn't want her to think that he was taking back what he said earlier. That he can't keep his promise. "You can stay with me as long as you want."

"Ju-Just tell me what you want in return."

"No. I'm not asking for anything in return," Jeric replied immediately. He doesn't want this omega to be his server. And he also can't think of anything else to ask her. "I'm not that kind of alpha that will ask for something in return whenever I'm doing good. It's not a good deed then when I ask for something in return."

"I... I'll just clean your house all the time. And then I'll cook for you."

"You don't have to clean the house, do the laundry, or do any housework because someone is doing it there. About cooking..." Jeric thinks first before continuing to speak. "Although someone is already cooking for me, okay, I will give you a chance. If I like the way you cook, then I will let you cook for me."

"Okay. That's a deal," Lany said and she even held out her hand to Jeric.

Jeric hesitated but he still responded to the omega’s handshake with him.

Then he told her that they need to go and get into the city before the night comes. Lany just nodded at him as a response. Then she faced the burning huts and the scattered dead bodies of members of their pack.

"I promise you, my entire pack, I will come back and get revenge for you! Mom, Dad, wait for me. I will save you!" Lany said in a hard voice.

Then she wiped the tears that flowed down her cheeks and she faced the kind alpha again who helped her and was also willing to help her in the future.

"Let's go," Lany said.

And they started walking out of that forest. Until they reached the outside of it and for the first time, Lany was able to see what the world outside their camp looked like.

As an omega of their pack, she only spends her time at their camp while serving her parents. While waiting until she meet the alpha that's mated for her.

She was slightly surprised when she felt Jeric's hand tap her on the shoulder. She immediately came back to her senses and looked at the alpha who was with her.

"Are you okay?" Jeric asked. "I noticed that you suddenly got stunned."

"It-It's my first time going to the city. S-So I'm amazed. I never thought the world was this beautiful," Lany replied, still can't understand what exactly she was feeling.

"Actually, we're not in the city yet. For sure, you'll be more amazed when you see how beautiful the city is," Jeric said with a smile on his face.

Then a car came and stopped right in front of them.

"Here's our service," Jeric said and he immediately helped Lany get inside the car. Then he got inside as well.

And the driver immediately drove the car towards the city. And Jeric was right, when they got to the city, Lany got even more amazed. She almost didn’t want to take her eyes off the beautiful lights and establishments there. She also enjoys looking at the beautiful women and handsome men that she sees.

Moments later, they arrived at a three-storey house that looked like a mansion. They immediately went inside and Lany was even more amazed by the beautiful design of the house.

"Is... Is this your house?" Lany asked almost shyly.

"Yes, it is. Just feel at home. Wait a minute and I'll just prepare the room for you," Jeric replied as he headed straight to an empty room of his house.

As he was walking, he was startled when someone suddenly pulled him towards the bathroom.

"I recognized that woman. She's the omega that Mondrei is chasing earlier. Why did you bring her here?"

Jeric just shook his head when he recognized who pulled him. He wanted to avoid the question but it was better to tell him that he decided to help that omega and offered her to stay in his house for a moment.

"I felt sorry for her, Chadrick, so I helped her. Don't worry, she won't cause any danger to us," Jeric replied. "And by the way, she saw your face earlier, so it's better if you don't show up to her while she's here."

Chadrick just shook his head because of what he heard from the alpha whom he serves and also his friend. He couldn't believe that he made a decision like that.

"A war might break out between our pack and Night Walkers Pack when Mondrei finds out that you helped that omega," Chadrick said, full of worries.

"Why are you afraid of them, Chadrick?"

Chadrick was stunned by Jeric's question. He looked at him and saw no trace of fear on his face, so he did not speak anymore and just let him do what he wanted.

"The best thing that you can do now is to just help me fix this room that Lany will use from now on," Jeric changed the topic.

"And you even know her name now," Chadrick commented.

"Hurry up," Jeric pushed his friend slightly and then he did as he was told.

When they finished, he was about to walk back to the living room where Lany was waiting when he suddenly remembered something and faced Chadrick again.

"By the way, can you tell me how to make macaroni soup and I'll try to cook it later," Jeric turned to Chadrick.

"And you're also going to cook for her," Chadrick said in frustration. But he still taught Jeric what he wanted to learn.

Then Jeric came out of the room with a smile on his face and approached Lany.

Chadrick just shook his head and immediately left the room as the guest of his friend might see him.

Jeric then brought the omega to her room.
