CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Salvetti saw the sight on her face and rushed over to be at her side. He slowly wrapped his arms over her shoulders and pulled her close to him, hugging her gently but firmly enough to calm her nerves. He positioned himself so that she might exit the room if desired.

Being held now made her want to get away less urgently.

The dog sensed her shift in disposition and hopped onto the bed. This was presumably his attempt to reassure her that she could rely on him just as much.

It was met with the question, "What was that?" The sound of Salvetto's words resounded in his heart, bringing her some relief. Now that she had a clearer view, Lanaya could relax a bit.

"Demons, uh, sorry. They... they -" Frustrated tears welled behind her eyes as she fought to find the right words to describe how she felt.

"Don't rush things. She felt calmer after he had spoken to her. It's not like you have to do something because of external pressure.
