CHAPTER FIFTY THREE

Elisabetta combed her fingers over Salvetto's damp hair. He let out a low roar. After spending twenty minutes trying to "tame" his hair, his mother finally gave up. The longer she battled with it, the more noticeable his mother's frown grew.

She smacked his arm hard. Stop being so mean to your mother, Salvetti.

The expression on his face indicated that he was struggling to control his anger. He didn't dare put his beloved mom to the test. No one could predict the level of violence she may display if she saw him looking at her.

After clicking her tongue, she gave his hair a solid slap with the gel.

The words "my baby" cooed as she ran a comb over his thick layer of gel and hair.

It's like a child saying, "Mom, quit!" He recoiled, shaking his head. What, no other kid around here for me to annoy?

She let out a startled gasp. "Annoy?" She raised her arms and shouted something at him in Italian. The man sighed. He had one too many female companions.
