We should be celebrating instead of stressing over things that might never happen. Gia twisted her lips as she pondered that thought. “True . . . I guess there is that I suppose. But I can’t stop thinking about my mom. I’m worried for her, Kian. What if her father found out about me and did something awful to her? She gave me away to protect me. That tells me that she wanted me. If it wasn’t for him, she would be with my father right now. I would have been raised by parents who loved me. My life would have been so different.” She exhaled mournfully.
