Guilty

Sebastian POV

The walk back home was depressing, everyone seemed to be grieving as no one could find the right word to say, not at this moment.

I held Aurora's Jacket and her shoe, clenching them tightly, her scent wafting into my nostrils reminding me of the last conversation with her and how it had turned out.

I ran my gaze at the people who were walking beside me and I exhaled when I saw none of them looking back at me. I was sure that I had that guilty look on my face and if I was caught, it wasn't going to help.

"You have to be strong mother, Aurora will come back soon," I heard Laden console his mother, with his hands wrapped firmly around her and I wondered how he was going to feel if he found out that she wouldn't be coming back.

I wondered what thought was running through his mind at the moment and for the first time in a long while, I wished that I could find out what was going through someone else's mind.

I wanted to know what he was thinking about at the moment, I needed to be a step away from him.

"Aurora isn't like that, my mate will come back soon, where would she have gone when she is supposed to be crowned with me as Luna?" I wondered out loud trying to earn the sympathy of all those around me.

"She is the perfect person to be my Luna and I wouldn't take another if she doesn't come back, how am I going to explain all this now," I wailed loudly as we walked through the forest, stepping on the leaves that crushed underneath our feet.

"Do not worry, your Luna will be back to you soon," I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder and I turned around to take a look at Aurora's father whose eyes were red and one could see the pain in them.

"I love Aurora, who could have done this to her? What could have happened to her?" I questioned out loud.

" We do not know what has happened to my sister and Selina helps anyone who has done this because he or she wouldn't go unpunished by me," Laden swore again beside me, making my heart hitch.

The walk back to the pack was silent as everyone was engrossed in their thoughts and I was left alone to mine.

I never thought Aurora would hurt herself over the word that I had told her and I detested her weak self. She had never been the perfect Luna for me and if I was to see her again, I was going to say the same word to her.

My toe ached badly and I could feel myself breaking down with every minute that passed. I could feel my heartbeat anxiously for what was going to be my father's verdict if he was still going to make me the Alpha of the red moon pack when I didn't have a Luna.

My mind was running wild and although I knew that I should be regretful of my actions, I couldn't bring myself to be not at the moment.

The sniffing sound turned into wailing as we approached the pack, Mrs. Alexis couldn't hold herself back from crying anymore and she had let down her tears as we approached the pack house.

"What is it?" My father asked anxiously, running down the stairs, and heading toward us.

"Father," I muttered when he walked closer to me, I stretched out the jacket and the shoe that we had found toward him.

"My mate is nowhere to be found father," I informed him with my head bowed to the ground, as I tried to muster up tears from my eyes but they refused to drop.

I watched as my father took a step backward in shock, and walked toward Aurora's father who was grieving silently, he had been trying to be a man and he was doing a good job at that.

"I am sorry, Alexis" I heard my father apologize sincerely to him, making me wonder what exactly he was apologizing for.

"Alexis, say something" my father shook his shoulder when he didn't get any answers from him.

"The apple of my eye is gone, the one who made me and my wife happy is gone, Laden's idol is gone and who is to blame for what happened, Selina, do we blame her?" I glanced at him when his voice broke down.

" Selina had been unfaithful to me, Selina took away your son's mate, she watched all of that happen and she couldn't do anything, why? Why is life unfair?" His voice thundered, alerting most of the pack members who were dancing.

A small crowd gathered to watch the interaction between my father and Mr. Alexis and I could hear voices wondering what exactly was going on.

"Ahhhhh" I burst into tears, as my mother approached us, her steps were graceful and you could see how everyone became aware of her immediately after she stepped in.

"Son, what is wrong?" She asked me with concern in her voice.

She had loved Aurora like her own and they had always made talks about how they would take care of our little wolves together, even when she knew Aurora wasn't one.

"Aurora mother, she is gone," I answered her while blinking my eyes severally to fight back the tears that threatened to drop.

"Noooo, not my daughter-in-law, not her, anyone but her," she screamed out in shock, pacing up and down while clenching her clothes tightly.

"Aurora isn't dead, she isn't dead, not my pearl, not her" I glanced around and I was taken aback at the gloomy atmosphere that I was in.

"Aurora, wherever you are, I hope that you stay there and never come back because you cannot come and disrupt my already perfect love" I murmured under my breath while gnashing my teeth.

"Anyone who has done this has to be found, go and call me the ancestral goddess" my father ordered a guard, startling me in the process.

I turned around while thinking of how to stop the guard from taking a step forward, I didn't want to be caught.
