Luca POV

The witch dragged me to the kitchen, which was full of people preparing food. My mouth watered so much it all smelt so delicious. There were sweets, warm fresh breads, rich meats, creamy potatoes, and shiny green apples. I wanted to eat it all. I needed to eat it all. “Wait here,” the witch growled before dragging me to a corner by the sink. How many people were coming tonight? Was it too much to hope it was my parents that they had finally found me?

I felt my heart jump at the thought. They finally came for me.

The witch returned with a small plate and a cup. Scanning the kitchen with the all the other rich foods, I was a little disappointed. Before she could say anything or take it away, I grabbed the cup, which had hot soup in. More of a broth, but it did taste nice. I swallowed it all, finally feeling better, and my tummy was surprisingly full. I ate the grapes a bread roll still. I ate it all.
