LOGINIngrid was fuming mad that Helena is trying to add more to her plans that she did not see coming. She always sees Helena as someone who seems like a sheep who doesn’t even fight back or is just too silent to voice out her opinion, making her introverted. She is the kind of sister whom she knows she could easily manipulate, and to hear her speaking so boldly made her blood boil to the core.
Helena’s suggestion would put her in danger, knowing that she knows too well that there is much more behind what she was saying right now than what is buried beneath the surface. It was darker than Darren’s cheating allegation. It was not just adultery but also a truly heavy crime.
And she would not let her ruin her image for her sister’s suggestion. She would never allow it.
“All I just want right now is to isolate for a while so I can think better, and I want it to be with you. I want to open up to you just like the past years, Helena. You have comforted me a lot of times in the past, and I have been your own shoulder to cry on as well. So please, stay by my side.” Ingrid pleaded.
Helena has no idea what kind of relationship Ingrid has with her sister. She doesn’t know if she is truly a good sister to her, or if she is just worse, like a friend. Meanwhile, Louis waiting for Helena in the living room is quite bothered since the talk is a bit taking so long and he has no idea what is happening inside.
Louis just doesn’t really like the vibe Ingrid was giving off; despite being related to Helena as her sister, he still can’t trust her. There is something about Ingrid that he does not like—that he wanted to just stand up and check on them personally, but he held back.
“How’s her camp, by the way? She seems calmer than usual,” Mrs. Asher asked.
“She got her new hobby at camp, attending her subjects. She is quite interested in learning weapons such as archery. She was also praised by her coach for having a high grade in class C. Does she have tutors back in the day?”
“Oh, really? Well, our dearest Helena is really introverted, but she is pretty smart. But she doesn’t have tutors though,” Mrs. Asher confirmed.
“That’s quite new… Helena isn’t fond of weapons… though she loves riding the horse more,” Mr. Asher said.
Louis was a bit curious, knowing that the first time Helena tried horseback riding in his mansion, she fell. She seems to have no experience, and she doesn’t know what to do. But then, thinking that losing her memories might have affected her actions, he just let it pass.
“How about her memories? Does she open up about…her old memories?” Mrs. Asher asked.
“She hasn’t told me anything about her past memories. She rarely opens up to me, but she somehow talks.”
The two sighed in relief as they were happy that their daughter is making a little progress at least.
“The doctor said there is a slim chance that she would regain her memories, but the important thing here is that she is now awake and she is safe. I hope you are patient with our daughter, Alpha Louis.”
“I will, Mrs. Asher. She is now under my care, and I will do my best to protect your daughter.”
They both smiled at him. Mr. Asher sighed when he remembered there was a chance the Adams might not continue the marriage in the future, but what mattered to him right now was the connection with the Montville since it meant a lot to them. It has a bigger impact than losing the Adams.
“By the way, have you talked to the Adams about the wedding? I heard the news,” he stated.
Mrs. Asher’s expression turned sour as she shook her head disappointedly. “Our eldest doesn’t want to talk about it, and she doesn’t want us to talk to the Adams too, to at least solve this problem. It seems like she wanted some space.”
“Darren knew that she collapsed. She is sick.”
“We didn’t publicize it since the doctor advised us not to give her too much stress for a while. Maybe it was better to just let this cool down, and once they are both ready to talk about it again, the wedding might continue,” Mrs. Asher answered.
“It was so sudden,” Mr. Asher shook his head. “They loved each other so much. It wasn’t just an arrangement but also a mutual understanding from both of them. So I don’t understand what just happened. My daughter was even so excited to marry him that she got mad when I decided to move it for a bit.”
“When did this happen? When she got mad?” Louis curiously asked.
“Oh, that day when Helena finally woke up, and you went here. She was pissed at us, but she just set it aside for her sister,” Mrs. Asher uttered.
Louis’ brows knitted. There is really something about Ingrid that he couldn’t explain. It just doesn’t make sense to him why the marriage was called off. They were about to talk about it more when they noticed Ingrid, together with Helena, pulling down the staircase with a smile on her lips.
“Sweetheart. Are you okay now?” Mrs. Asher confirmed and stood up as soon as the two were already in front of them.
Louis’ eyes went to the way Ingrid held Helena’s pulse firmly, while Helena’s expression was unreadable.
“Mom…dad…I have a favor.” She looked at them one by one.
“What is it?” Her mother asked in a soft voice.
“Well,” Ingrid glanced at Helena for a while, then smiled at the two. “Helena agreed to be with me. And I understand that she has subjects in the camp. I don’t want to burden her by being here in the mansion with me, so… I decided to come with her, Mom, and Dad. I want some distraction, and the camp might be the best way for a distraction…knowing that Helena was there too.”
Helena was completely unprepared for Ingrid’s sudden decision. Even the Ashers looked at each other, while Ingrid was already pleading, and she even hugged her sister from the side.
“I just want a distraction for the meantime, Mom, Dad. Please, let me. I don’t want to isolate myself here. I want something far where Helena is too. The camp is the perfect place for me. Please…”
Helena wanted to grit her teeth and just push Ingrid away from her because she knew too well that her plans were now starting, and it was part of her dark schemes. She was already growling in her mind, wanting to just confront Ingrid in front of her parents, but she held back.
“Well, is it okay, Helena?” Mrs. Asher confirmed.
“Yes, Mom! Helena agrees, of course! Right, sis?” Ingrid then looked at Helena, who was still silent.
Louis was weighing her reaction. He could sense how Ingrid was only deciding and forcing Helena to agree because of the way Helena behaves.
“Is it okay?” Her father asked.
Helena then nodded slowly. She couldn’t just shake her head because she knew that Ingrid would only find a way to make her say yes. She knew her too well; Ingrid would always come up with another plan if she didn’t get what she wanted.
Knowing that this plan happened because she didn’t agree to Ingrid’s favor to decline the arrangement with the Montville, and now she came up with a bigger plan.
Instead of getting away from her, I would just go with the flow. Make it seem like you support her, just like how she made you feel believe that she is there as a friend too. So this is your chance to be there for her as a sister to her, Helena.
“Yes, mom, dad. I think it is best for Ingrid if she is with me in the camp so she can distract herself. Besides, the atmosphere there is good for her. She might calm down since I am there too,” Helena added to make it seem like she was a supportive sister to her.
Ingrid’s eyes twinkled as she even muffled a melting word while hugging her. She was already screaming victory in her mind that Helena was now acting according to what she planned.
“What happened to her is painful, and she deserves to rest as well. And I wanted her to be with me there too…” Helena added more.
The Ashers then calmed down while Louis was still weighing her words. He did not expect she would agree because of the way she was silent earlier. But then he tried to not overanalyze it and just let Helena decide.
“Is it okay, Alpha Louis?” Ingrid then looked at him softly, her eyes twinkling.
The Ashers looked at Louis this time.
“I hope you consider this. I would send some men to look out for my older daughter so your own men won’t be burdened by her,” Mr. Asher offered.
Louis then shook his head. “No, it’s okay, Mr. Asher. The pack is there, and they could also watch over her.”
Ingrid’s eyes widened, and her lips were now stretching happily.
“Oh, thank you, Alpha Louis! I won’t do anything there to disappoint you; don’t worry,” she promised.
“Put your sister as a priority since I prioritize her. That’s enough to me,” Louis said with conviction

Hearing that Ingrid is sick is really not in her vocabulary. And maybe the anger hasn’t sat on her head fully enough that she slightly feels worried about Ingrid. Or maybe it was Helena’s feelings for her sister and not Alana. Because she knows that her suffering would never be enough to pay for the life that was taken away so easily on that night because of her selfishness.“Your father called, and he is asking if I could bring you back to your house for a while since your sister needs you there,” Louis explained more as they were both in his car now.“What could possibly happen?” she asked while she was fidgeting with her fingers resting on her lap.“I heard the news earlier this day that the Adams called off the wedding of your sister and Darren. It must have been the reason why your sister got sick,” he said.As soon as the reason was mentioned, Helena immediately knew what was happening. It was one of her sick games again, and Helena could really read what she was up to. Just lik
“Ingrid!” Mrs. Asher rushed to her room as soon as the announcement was made by the Adams, just like what they had planned the other night for Ingrid’s plans. It was Darren who called it off so that Ingrid’s family had no choice but to accept it, knowing that Darren’s parents would easily agree to everything he wanted. And as soon as Mrs. Asher got into Ingrid’s room, the tissues on the floor and even the state of her clothes—the bottle of wine she was drinking while Ingrid was on the floor crying helplessly made Mrs. Asher’s anger turn into concern.“What is happening, Ingrid? Why did the Adams call the wedding off?!” Her mother asked worriedly while watching her daughter’s lament. She caressed Ingrid’s back who reached for the bottle of wine to gulp it down, but her mother took it from her hand.“You are a mess, Ingrid! Stop this and tell me what happened!” her mother demanded.Ingrid continued crying, just like how good at acting she is, showing her mother that she was wrecked and
It was a heavy topic for Helena, but what’s different about it is that for the first time, she was able to talk about her experience from the past with someone else who was willing to listen. And she knew that it wasn’t just a nightmare while she was asleep; it was also her nightmare when she was awake. The call made her night a little bit more comfortable afterwards, and she was able to sleep so soundly. When tomorrow came, she was already looking forward to Louis’ promise that he would visit her and they would eat together. She couldn’t come home to the mansion of the Montville yet because of her ongoing classes at the camp. Her subject in class A to determine her strength when it comes to close combat, was now the main highlight of her day. She listened carefully to the lesson while their coach was a woman this time.“The strength of a person cannot be measured by gender, because there are women like me who are stronger than a man. I could pin five men down in just close combat and
“Shut up about him. He is not important between us,” Darren murmured.Ingrid was already internally screaming in frustration, but she wanted her plans to work out, and she could not achieve it without Darren’s help. She needed a good alibi, an ally to achieve her dark goals.“No, listen to me, Darren. The Montville, especially Louis Montville himself, might be hiding something else. He is now the fiancé of my sister, and I am just worried, you know. Now that the Montville is close to the Asher, isn’t it more convenient for both of us to investigate and to know about his weakness? Don’t you want to be the top in Emerald Ville? Hmm.”With Darren’s silence, Ingrid knew so well that he was now contemplating her words. She smirked wickedly as everything was slowly favoring her.“What do you want then?” he asked.“Well…” She cleared her throat. “I want to call off the wedding.”“Fuck, Ingrid. Are you fucking kidding me? After everything we have done? Are you kidding me?!”“Calm down, okay!
When Louis noticed she was staring too much, she immediately looked away and put her attention on her food instead.“You seem comfortable with Bruno. I am expecting you would feel comfortable with me too,” he said.Helena then realized that he might have seen the way she laughs at Bruno’s jokes earlier and noticed that she is indeed more comfortable with Bruno than the way she behaves when she is with him.“I just find you too intimidating sometimes; that’s why I am still trying to… adjust to you,” she reasoned.“You don’t have to adjust, you know. Just be yourself.”“Bruno is quite funny; that’s why I laughed at him earlier,” he pointed out.Louis’ brow arched. “Is that low-key telling me that I’m boring?”Her eyes widened so much that she shook her head in a panicking way. “No. I mean, you are way too serious sometimes, and it is hard to talk to you since you seem like you would blatantly say mean things to me if I didn’t answer you right.”“Well, I’m used to being like that, but… i
