Ashley.

“She’s alive!” A voice whispered from the background as I lay flat with my eyes, trying to balance the ray of light from the window.

“Where am I?” I voiced, my voice shrill.

I felt surprised seeing myself in a hospital ward. The last thing I recalled was my head in the round stake and the painful slice from the executioner's axe.

I flinched.

“What’s going on?” I muttered as I raised my head and noticed a nurse with a file in her hand.

“You’ll be fine, Luna.” She smiled wryly at me.

“Oh dear, it’s good to have you back after such a long night. We were all scared and felt you’ve already passed on,” she rubbed her hands slowly, showing sympathy.

“What the hell am I doing here? nurse. Why am I in a hospital, and where the hell is Alex…” I stuttered at the moment. My eyes popped wide open. I realized I just called out the name of my bane. Everything looked so confusing to me at the time and I felt so lost.

“Roan? Roan?!” I heard the voice of a man call as he entered the ward. He looked tense and sweaty as he walked straight to me and hugged me tight.

“I’m so happy you’re back. I thought I lost you to the cold hands of death,” he gasped in tears as he spoke. His voice stuttered and he shivered.

The atmosphere looked weird and complex. Two other ladies entered the ward and they looked surprised to see me. My heart raced at the sight of my skin, which was now brownish.

“What the fuck!” I exclaimed and pushed him away.

“Roan? Calm down! It’s going to be alright,” he gestured with his hands while I rose quickly from the bed. I felt pain behind my back, like something had tampered with my spine.

The name ‘Roan,’ kept on ringing in my head while I stared at them. My name is Ashley, why do these people here refer to me as ‘Roan?’ I muttered.

I panicked.

My voice wasn’t the same, it sounded shallow.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I turned and saw a door which I assumed would lead to the bathroom.

“Excuse me please,” I reacted sharply and walked in. I breathed heavily as I stood and turned to the mirror.

I quailed.

“What the actual fuck?!” I whispered and goosebumps stampeded my skin. It felt like I just saw a ghost. I was totally different. I raised my hands slowly and touched my face. The feel on my skin was smoother and I looked more beautiful, but it looked so weird. It felt like somehow a surgery was carried out on me and a new body was implanted.

“No, this can’t be happening. What the hell is this?!” I shrinked and turned on the tap. I washed my face, hoping to see the old Ashley but no, I was still the same. I heard a knock on the door.

“Roan, are you okay?” The man voiced.

I was confused. Short of words and looked around, like I needed a quick exit, even from the bathroom.

‘Come on Ashley, you’d be fine. Think, think.’

I beat my chest mildly and heard the man knock again.

“My love, what’s going on in there? Are you sure you’re alright?”

“I’m fine!” I echoed.

‘Fuck, did I just say that?’ I muttered and kept a close look at the mirror. It was my last glance.

I exhaled.

I walked out of the bathroom and discovered he was already standing and waiting at the door.

“Roan, please, you’d have to calm…”

“leave me alone!” I lamented and tried to rush out of the ward but the man who was faster, held me.

“Stop it! Roan! What’s wrong with you?! you just came back to life and you’ll need to rest!” He tried to tame me but he made the matter worse.

“Don’t touch me! Stay away from me!”

The man was surprised. His eyes were fixed on mine as he turned to the ladies who were confused as well.

“Roan? You’ll have to relax, please I need you to…” he tried to get closer to me and hold my shoulders but that only made me panic and I grew outrageous.

“Get the fuck off me! Looser!” I cried and pushed him forcefully. I discovered something weird at that moment. My wolf was stronger, and the aura was top notch. As Ashley, my wolf wasn’t as vibrant as this.

I ran outside the ward still wearing my blue pajamas. The other ladies in the room called out as they chased me behind.

“Roan?! Stop!”

I ran as fast as I could, like someone who just ran mad. I heard my feet clamping on the tiled floor of the lobby as I rushed in between two nurses who were coming my way. The tray which they held in their hands fell off and they both flinched.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized quickly as I kept on with the pace.

I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I kept on imagining how I got there and everyone else looked so unfamiliar. There was no Alex, no Sophia. The drama in the hospital that morning created a chaotic atmosphere as I heard footsteps behind me. Every part of the hospital I ran across had faces on me. I wasn’t ashamed, I just needed to reach the exit.

“Roan stop!” A familiar voice echoed. I could barely feel my own legs while I ran. My eyes were stationed at the door.

‘That would be the entrance to the hospital and possibly the only exit available,’ I grumbled.

I craved salvation and knew I’d get it once I stepped my foot out of this horrible place. My heart kept on pumping as I heard the footsteps approach even closer.

‘These men would never catch me.’ I muttered.

I was so close to the door and in fact, I felt my hands touch the handle but someone showed up at the entrance, colliding with me. I flinched and hit him forcefully before reaching the ground.

My back began to ache. My eyes were weakened and I could barely see a thing. All I could hear were voices.

“Is she alright?”

“Luna!”

“Roan…”

Chapter 49: Restless ShadowsAshleyThe silence in my room was louder than thunder. I couldn’t sit still. My feet dragged me back and forth, from the edge of the bed to the window, then back again, like some caged animal pacing in circles. My fingers kept twisting the hem of my blouse until the fabric wrinkled, and my thoughts tumbled over one another, messy and sharp.Tony.The name wouldn’t leave my head. Tony—the prisoner. Claire’s Tony.Luke’s voice replayed in my skull like a curse: “Alpha, the prisoner… I’m afraid he’s escaped.”I pressed a palm to my temple, trying to quiet the pounding ache. It didn’t add up. It didn’t make sense. No one escapes silver chains reinforced by pack guards. Not unless someone wanted them to.My wolf stirred inside me, uneasy, her growl low, restless. I couldn’t tell if it was warning or suspicion, but it pressed against my ribs until I felt like my chest would split.I looked at the door again—maybe the fifth, maybe the tenth time. Claire was takin

Chapter 48: Alpha…!Ashley. Finally… I could feel the breeze, inhale the fresh air of my true world. It had been horrible, trapped in that twisted timeline where chaos lurked behind every moment. I stood still for a second, letting the wind kiss my face. How come I’m able to remember what happened in the world where Claire tampered with time? I muttered under my breath.I had been trying to reach Boris on the phone for a while, but he wasn’t picking up. Moving toward the mirror, I gave my face a final touch — tonight I had a meeting. Strange that I had even scheduled it; I had just come back from… time itself.Knock knock.I froze. My heart picked up speed. The knock was off — irregular, hesitant, but forceful in its own way. Not the usual rhythm of the maidens. Maybe Claire? I watched the door, waiting. Then the handle bent. Someone was opening the goddamn door — with authority.“Who the fuck…?” I whispered, bracing myself. And then I saw him.“Oh, my angel, I’m so sorry! I saw your

  • Revenge of a reincarnated Luna    Back in time

Chapter 47: Back in time. Claire. [Back to three days ago] The scenario gave us all hope. I saw myself dashing with a speed one would figuratively refer to as the speed of light. I rushed across the other maidens who were with their bowls and flowers. “Watch it! Claire,” one of them yelled as I rushed and hit her with my shoulders. “So sorry please.” I responded, my voice diminishing as I headed straight to the kitchen. ‘What the hell is wrong with this human?’ I heard one of them say as I rushed farther. It was one of the most traumatizing moments of my life. Nothing more hurts more than seeing the ones you love being at the brink of death. I had to save Tony at all costs and that’s the priority. I entered the kitchen, my eyes darting towards the cooks as they stared at me. The chief cook stared at me with worry etching her eyes, my face dwindling towards the plates and the pot which contained some meat and probably the rice cooked for the day. “Claire, are you sure you’re alr

  • Revenge of a reincarnated Luna    Plot Twist

Chapter 46: Plot Twist Claire. Pain. What more can I say? Everything I’ve ever believed in and worked for, all collapsing before my very eyes. The one true love who made me tamper with time had just proved to me that that shit called true love didn’t exist. I was chained all along to the wall and awaited the knife to be struck into my neck like Luke’s, maybe Monica and her sister would have something else to do with Roan and Jasper. My heart bled, my head ached, my eyes clumsy and my feet flooded with blood. All that mattered to me was giving up the ghost at the time because there was nothing left. Monica and Eunice pointed the knife at Jasper to reveal the truth concerning what they said, but he tried everything possible to avoid being dumb. He spoke, lied and made sure he saved the day, or at least, bought us some time. “Hey, can you at least speak up?!” Monica yelled at him. Her face contorted in rage, her eyes blazed with fury. Her lips curled into a snarl. “Hey, come on sis

  • Revenge of a reincarnated Luna    What did they say?

Chapter 45: What did they say? Ashley. We were tied and kept in the same room. The werewolves were stationed at every corner while Monica, Eunice and Simon were outside, making some decisions about our prosecution. I watched closely to see if maybe there’ll be an escape route from but couldn’t find any. Our only savior in the room who happened to be a witch was now chained. It was so tragic to know that she’d been played all along by the one person she loved the most, the one she trusted and could die for, the same person who made her tamper with the time spell. Claire was chained to the wall and tormented by the werewolves. She was tortured so badly that she bled all over. I felt pity on her. Jasper and I were tied to a chair as we backed each other. We whispered all along as we watched Claire. “Told you not to trust him, didn't I?” He whispered. “Uncle, you wouldn’t blame her, she’s got every reason to react the way she just did, and trust me, I think this whole thing is more

  • Revenge of a reincarnated Luna    Betrayal

Chapter 44: Betrayal Claire. The plan rested in our hands; Tony and I. I walked quietly as Tony had my back. We both made it past the werewolves who guarded the back door. Thanks to my magical expertise. I was surprised he didn’t realize that at all, even after the silly mistake I made at the beginning. He kept a steady gaze at the path where the werewolf guards were, ready to unleash his cruel wolf if anything had gone wrong. “Why are you staring at me like that?” He asked, his voice soothing as he tilted his brows. Of course, he felt so confused about the whole thing right then. I wasn’t even in my right senses, I stared so lustfully like he’s just returned from a very busy trip. His lips and jawline amazed me; I couldn’t shake the feeling that everything would be alright even after all these. “What do you mean? I just had to make one good stare and you’re telling me…” “Claire, you seem to forget the fact that we’re on a mission and our part is the most crucial part of this mis
