I couldn’t get out of the damn dress fast enough when we finally got back home. I had to force a smile so many times that my cheeks actually ached and all I wanted was to get into a hot bath and pretend that none of this happened. I spent two years of my life preparing for war. I spent that time carefully planning my revenge only for the carpet to be ripped out from under me.

Not only that, but I had to pretend I was okay with all of it! I slipped into the hot water and lowered my head under the water. It was quiet there. Calm. Until I saw my omega’s face looking worried. Water splashed all over the place as I went up for air.
