Chapter 7

“You’re so hot,” Collin whispered warmly on my ears before slapping my pair of pears at my back.

For a brief while, my back ached from the strong heat emanating from his body, which was quickly engulfing my entire system. Despite the fact that his skin felt rough against mine, the sensation was neither unpleasant nor irritating. It was something... very fantastic.

My eyes slowly opened to meet his as I became dizzy and inebriated. Initially, because my eyes were unable to focus in one area for the first time I opened them, I was distracted by the flashing lights just outside his car's window before settling my gaze on his.

It happened so quickly that when his body moved just a little bit and his nose grazed against the skin of my face, I closed my eyes almost instantly. My voice was nowhere to be found, and neither was the sanity of my flaming heart, which had vanished.

Everything was black, and the only thing that seemed to be really active was my skin's heightened senses, which were the only thing that seemed to be very active.

Collin's warm, smooth body was slipping down the side of my neck, and I knew it was Collin. He managed to keep his lips firmly in place before I could sense him rising a little. His weighty, yet kind, waiting became less intense all of a sudden. My eyes sprang wide to look at him.

Our gazes locked on each other. His face was covered by the shadows cast by his unkempt hair, but his eyes were brilliant and shallow, as if he were staring into a mirror. He licked the inside of his top lip while our gazes remained fixed on each other.

“Hmm… can I say no if you’ll look at me like that?” he hoarsely said.

My cheeks quickly started to burn once more. If it weren't for the fact that it was pitch black inside his car, I was sure he would be able to tell what my face looked like right now. Moreover, it would make me feel... hmm!

It seemed as if I was trying to keep my gaze away from him. I did everything I could to avoid looking back at him, but he was like a magnet in my view. My gaze returned to his after a while. He tucked his collar and tie back into their places before assisting me in getting into the correct posture... to sit in the chair of his automobile.

In the back of my mind, I was thinking of Collin, who was fitting his body into the driver's seat. He was preoccupied with buttoning his polo, which allowed me to sneak a few glimpses at him.

Despite the fact that we're only a meter apart from one another. I could still feel the warmth of his body on mine. The sensation was as if his heat had fully consumed my system, and I realized at that instant that getting it out would be difficult.

Just as his head was going to swivel in my way, I jerked my gaze downward. My gaze was immediately drawn to my slightly spread knees. When I discovered that something was troubling me in between my legs, I instantly closed my legs and bonded my knees together with super glue.

It was a lucky coincidence that I was dressed in my casual clothes rather than the bar's uniform. If I were to put on that short skirt, what do you think would happen? We would have done... ugh!

Stop thinking, Avery Rose!

But again, who would have guessed that I had such a dark underbelly to my personality? I had never been in a situation where I was among boys in my entire life. I mean it in a lighthearted manner. Well, I was always surrounded by guys since they were instrumental in our vengeance plotting, but I was not really interested in any of them.

I recall from my childhood that I had to devote my time and energy to exercising and increasing my stamina on a daily basis. Boys were never only a source of disruption in our plans. I couldn't allow myself to be disturbed. All of a sudden, a hazy memory of my very first rejection came flooding back to me.

“Kick harder, Av! How would you kill a bear with that kick? Harder!”

To strike the wood, my teacher was hyping me up and telling me to give it my very best kick. My sweats were dripping down my entire body. In the back of my mouth, saliva and sweat were combining. I sat down with my mouth half open, trying to catch my breath.

It's just been three years since the enemy launched an attack on our city and took total control of the city. In the meantime, it's been three years after the disaster, and we're still rebuilding our lives on the Havasu side river. Although the new city was not yet completed, we did have the necessary infrastructure in place, such as residences, schools, and training fields.

“Avery…” A little voice at my back whispered.

Even the tiniest noise caused me to look away from the situation. There was a person there, which I immediately noticed. His face was tiny, and he had freckles across his cheeks and the back of his neck, which made him stand out to ordinary child I ever met.

His face was tiny, and he had freckles across his cheeks and the back of his neck, which made him stand out to ordinary child I ever met. He was squirming and struggling to maintain his balance. He couldn't look me in the eyes for more than five seconds, so I didn't get to see what he was thinking or feeling.

But I recognized his face. Despite the fact that I was unfamiliar with his given name, I was aware of the family to which he belonged. However, because I was not really interested in getting to know him, I never inquired as to his identity.
