After Abigail went to bed, I sat in the front room with Everly. She looks at me and then focuses on the tv again. I know she has questions. I would have questions too. “You can ask them”, I say without looking at her keeping my eyes on the tv. I don’t know if I want to see the look of disappointment on her face when I tell her about Agnes. And how I went to see her. I don’t want her to think that there’s something between us still. Because I could’ve been brain fogged when she called, and I needed to see her, but after finding out what she did. I couldn’t even look at her properly. All the doubts I had disappeared, and I realised she was just someone from my past that needed to stay in the past while Abigail and Everly were my present and my future.
