Isadora’s POV

He grabbed my wrist, spun me around—And pushed me until my back hit the wall.

The sound cracked through the hallway like a gunshot.

“I told you to quit playing games,” he growled, eyes wild. “What the hell were you thinking, cutting up Alessia’s clothes? Is that your way of threatening her? Are you planning to kill her just to have me?”

I reeled—by Cassian’s sheer audacity. He actually believed I’d do that? That I was still so obsessed with him, so desperate to get his attention?

Cassian stood there like a man unraveling, fury dancing behind his eyes.

‘Cutting up Alessia’s clothes?’

I stared at him, stunned. What the hell was he talking about?

Before I could respond, my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen—Kai.

Cassian snatched it out of my hand before I could blink.

“This your so-called boyfriend?” he snapped, waving the phone like it was Exhibit A. “You already have a man, and yet you're still obsessed with sabotaging my relationship? What is it, Isadora—are you that desperate for attention?”

His voice dropped, deadly. “Should I answer him? Tell him what you've done?”

I stepped forward, snatching the phone back. “No. I didn’t do anything. And I don’t have time for whatever fantasy drama you and Alessia are acting out.”

I turned to leave—but Cassian wasn’t finished.

He grabbed my wrist, hard, and dragged me down the hall.

“If you’re having trouble remembering what you’ve done, let me help jog your memory.”

He didn’t stop until we reached the guest room—their room. He shoved the door open.

It looked like a crime scene in there.

Shredded fabrics littered the floor. Designer heels kicked into corners. Every inch of the room was torn apart. But the worst of it? Alessia’s gowns—dozens of them—ripped to ribbons. Including the one she wore on my birthday.

“See?” Cassian spat. “Still want to play innocent? Still want to lie? Who else could’ve done this? Your maid? Your brother? Or maybe you think Alessia cut up her own clothes and pinned it on you?”

That last part wasn’t impossible. Alessia had thrown herself down the stairs last time and cried that I’d pushed her.

Before I could speak, the bathroom door opened.

Alessia stepped out, wrapped in a silk robe, eyes red and voice trembling.

“Please, Isadora,” she whispered, “I know you don’t like me, but destroying all my clothes? That’s cruel… even for you.”

She pressed herself into Cassian’s side like some tragic heroine. “Babe, let’s just leave. I don’t feel safe here anymore. What if she… hurts me?”

Cassian pulled her close, glaring at me like I was a monster. “We’ll leave, don’t worry. Who the hell wants to stay under the same roof as a crazy woman?”

He turned to me, voice cold. “But before we go, I think it's only fair you get a taste of your own medicine. Women like you shouldn’t be allowed to walk away thinking they’re untouchable.”

What the hell does that mean?

“I told you—I didn’t do this,” I said, trying to stay calm. “I don’t have time to watch the two of you put on a soap opera.”

I started to leave.

“Stop her,” Cassian barked.

One of his guards stepped in front of me, blocking my path.

I froze.

“You do realize this is my house?” I said, eyes flashing toward the guard. “You’re all guests. You don’t have the right to stop me.”

The guard hesitated—until Cassian’s voice cut through again.

“Stop her. I’ll take full responsibility.”

He smiled at me, slow and poisonous.

“I’m your brother’s guest, not yours. And your precious casinos still rely on my contacts. If anything, it’s you who should be treating me nicely, Isadora.”

Alessia played the part of peacekeeper then, brushing her fingers over Cassian’s arm. “Cassian, let it go. Isadora probably just… snapped. It’s not worth it.”

Cassian turned to her, voice like steel. “Not worth it? This wasn’t a prank. It was a threat. And I intend to respond the same way.”

I took a step back. “What do you want?”

He turned toward me slowly, a terrifying calm settling over his features. And then—he smiled.

“I’m not going to cut your entire wardrobe,” he said, dark amusement dancing in his voice. “Just the one you’re wearing right now.”

My heart stopped.

He was serious.

That twisted smile stayed on his face as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a blade like it was nothing more than a toy.

He looked like the mafia heir he truly was now—untouchable, dangerous, drunk on control.

“You wouldn’t dare,” I warned, voice low. “You’re crossing a line, Cassian.”

He stepped closer.

“Oh, please,” Cassian sneered. “Don’t act so innocent. You brought this on yourself the moment you decided to play games with Alessia.”

He lifted his hand in a casual, almost bored wave. “Hold her still. Let’s help Miss Isadora Marcellus learn some manners.”

His guard grabbed me hard, pinning my arms like I was nothing but a rag doll.

“No,” I breathed. Then louder—“No! You wouldn’t dare!” I struggled, panic clawing its way into my chest. “Cassian, I gave you everything you wanted. Why are you still haunting me? What more do you want from me?”

I knew he was a monster. But never in my worst nightmares did I think he’d turn this on me.

“Stop!”

“Stop!”

The word cracked through the hallway in unison—two voices, full of fury.

Kai. And Damian.

Damian reached me first, fury lighting up his entire face as he slammed his fist into the guard’s jaw, sending him sprawling.

“Get your damn hands off my sister,” Damian snapped. “You’re a guest in this house, Cassian. Not a goddamn king.”

Kai’s voice was quieter—but far colder. “Mr. Cross,” he said coolly, eyes locked on Cassian, “what exactly were you planning to do to my girlfriend?”

Cassian turned, his face darkening. “Girlfriend?” he repeated. Then his gaze flicked back to me, sharp as glass. “So it’s true. You’re with him—Kai Drenner.”

He paused, sneering. “Izzy misbehaved today. I was simply teaching her a lesson.”

Isadora’s POVI froze.“In my past life, you didn’t just marry me. You tricked your way into my bed. Pretended to be innocent. And ended up pregnant—with my son. Leo.”My blood turned to ice.Cassian had been reborn too.My voice caught in my throat. “You…?”He didn’t answer. Just stared at me, like the memory still burned behind his eyes.So that was it. Maybe we both died. Or maybe my second chance had somehow dragged him back with me. I didn’t know. But what I did know? This time, he didn’t get to win.I shook out of his grip and stepped back.“If you really remember everything, then you should remember this too,” I said coldly. “You left me. You left me and your son to burn in that car. You chose Alessia. Again and again and again. And guess what? That’s who you really loved. So go. Run to her. Do it right this time, if you even know how.”He didn’t move. Didn’t blink.“And Leo?” My voice cracked, but I didn’t stop. “Thanks to your kind, noble heart, Leo will never exist again. You

Isadora’s POVToday marked three months since Kai and I started dating—and he insisted we celebrate.“Every little anniversary matters,” he told me with that charming smile. “Whether it’s our first meeting, our one-month, or a full year—they’re all part of our story.”So we dressed up, dined beneath fairy lights, shared dessert, and he drove me home like the perfect gentleman he always was.Halfway there, we bumped into my brother, Damian. He gave me a quick once-over and turned to Kai. “You can stay the night, if you want.”But Kai shook his head, voice smooth and respectful. “Not yet. I’ll wait until I propose to Isadora and formally introduce myself to your parents. That’s what a gentleman would do.”Sometimes I forgot that Kai Drenner was a mafia lead. He carried himself with old-world grace, his manners refined, his boundaries crystal clear. Never once had he pressured me to stay over or disrespected my family—not even with a look.Instead, he spoiled me.Not with extravagance—tho

Isadora’s POV“A lesson?” Damian barked. “Let me be crystal clear—this is my house, and she’s my sister. I don’t care if you’re my best friend or the goddamn mafia prince of the East Coast. You do not get to lay a finger on her. Ever.”He turned to me, eyes wide with concern. “Izzy—did he hurt you? Why are you shaking?”I didn’t answer. Just shook my head and looked to Kai.Cassian was still standing there, as if he’d done nothing wrong.Damian took a step forward, his fists clenched. “I trusted you, Cassian. I even wanted you to end up with her. But you chose that plastic doll Alessia instead. Fine. My sister moved on. She found someone who treats her better than you ever could. So what the hell is your excuse for still coming after her like this?”Kai stepped in, placing a firm hand on my back as he pulled me gently into his arms.“I don’t know what kind of twisted complex you’ve developed,” Kai said calmly, “but I won’t let you touch her. You should leave. Before I forget how much o

Isadora’s POVThe day Cassian proposed to Alessia, I slipped and fractured my ankle.Alessia didn’t miss her chance. She burst into my hospital room like a runway model, flashing her engagement ring like it had magical powers.“Oh my god, Isadora,” she gasped when she saw the cast on my leg. “That looks awful. Is it serious? Will you… fully recover?”“It’s just a fracture,” I muttered. “Not a tragedy.”She blinked back a few crocodile tears. “Is it because of us? Did our engagement upset you that much? I—I feel so guilty…” Then, right on cue: “Wait, I’ve got a call.”She flounced out, leaving her perfume and poison in the air.Cassian walked in a moment later, face sour like he’d swallowed a lemon. “You just had to find a way to steal the spotlight, didn’t you? On our engagement day.”“No. I slipped. That’s all,” I said calmly. “I’ve already told you—I don’t like you anymore. I didn’t then. I don’t now.”But Cassian wasn’t buying it. His jaw twitched. His eyes narrowed.“Izzy,” Cassian

Isadora’s POVI stayed in bed all day.No one disturbed me, thank god. They probably assumed I was nursing a hangover—or pretending to.By dinner, there was a knock.“Hey, Izzy,” Damian said gently through the door. “You okay? You’ve skipped every meal today.”“I’m fine,” I lied under the covers, voice muffled.“Come on. Just join us for dinner.”Of course, he didn’t come alone.Alessia chimed in next. “Isadora! Come eat with us!”And then—because fate hated me—my mother joined the chorus too. I was officially outnumbered. So I dragged myself to the table, sat down, and hoped no one would speak to me.Cassian sat beside Alessia, dutifully cutting her steak like she was some helpless debutante.“Cassian,” Alessia cooed, “I can cut my own food. I’m not a child.”She said it like a joke.Cassian’s gaze snapped to mine—sharp, burning. “You’re my girlfriend. Who else would I be taking care of?”I focused on my steak like it was the most fascinating thing I’d ever seen. But their performance

Isadora’s POVHis body went rigid. So did mine. But his lips were soft. Shockingly soft. And for a second, neither of us moved. And then… I didn’t want to move.Cassian is probably screwing Alessia right now, I reminded myself. So why couldn’t I have a little fun of my own?My arms slid around the stranger’s neck as if they belonged there. His hesitation dissolved like smoke, and then he was kissing me back—fierce, hungry, like he wanted to devour every last piece of me.I didn’t even realize he’d lifted me until I felt my legs swinging in the air. His lips never left mine as he carried me out—toward his car, I assumed. His breath brushed against my ear, deep and dangerous.“Don’t regret this tomorrow, Isadora,” he murmured. “You chose to mess with me this time.”Even through the liquor haze, I knew we were headed for something intense. Something I couldn’t undo. That night was a blur of heat and tangled sheets. He was built like sin—hard muscle, commanding hands, a mouth that ruined m

Isadora’s POVCassian was sprawled across my bed like a fallen angel, half-conscious, his shirt rumpled and fingers reaching out to me with a drunken slur of my name.“Isadora?” he murmured, eyes barely open. “Why are you standing so far away?”The sound of his voice—so familiar, so heartbreakingly intimate—made my chest tighten. I froze. This was it. The moment everything went wrong in my past life.Cassian smiled, slow and lazy, as he tugged at the buttons of his shirt. “Come on, Isadora.”He looked like sin and temptation and everything I used to want. But I knew better now. I didn’t move closer. I took a step back instead. In my past life, Damian—my brother—had handed me that glass of whiskey tonight with a knowing smile. He knew I had a crush on Cassian, his dangerous, untouchable mafia friend. He’d poured Cassian a drink. Said it was to loosen him up.“If he doesn’t love you,” Damian had whispered, “What’s the harm in a one-night stand?”Back then, I’d been naïve. I’d believed C
