His Rise

WRITER'S POV

"Hey kiddo, hand me that shovel." Said an old man. He gave him the shovel and they continued digging.

" So, you said this was an abandoned chapel sight, huh? How do you know that? Have you been here before? " Daniel, his best friend asked.

" Yep, my uncle told me that. You know, he was among those who broke down the building last year before the survey took place. "

"Did he say any thing about seeing treasures underground? '

" Even if he did, he wouldn't tell me. But I'm guessing he actually did, maybe that's why he had sent me to join. "

" Let's just hope we find a bigger treasure tonight. "

" What do you wanna use a treasure for? "

"Travel abroad, buy a new house, a new car and a new private jet. Get married, have kids and take them to the best school in the country, what do you think? "

" That's a big dream, you know that? " He told him.

" What about you? " He asked back.

" I don't know,,, for now. Let's just hope we find the treasures. " They were silent as they kept digging in their separate ways. The evening grew near, every one holding their touches joined with their helmet.

" Guys, there's some thing here! Come check it out! " Said some one from the other side. They all left to where he stood, pointing their touches on the ground.

"There's some thing in here, it sounds like wood. " He told them.

" Moses?! " Called the old Moses, " Get the caterpillar over here! " While Moses drove the vehicle over, they started digging until they were half of the box.

They hung the chain to the hook of the caterpillar, while Moses rose it high and out of the ground. " What the heck is this? " Moses said from the vehicle.

"Dan, get the hammers. "

" Hold on guys, do you think that's necessary? Why don't we just let it be and continue with the work? "

" Hey kiddo, the only way to find out what's inside here is by opening it. So, that's what we are about to do. "

Moses came with the hammers, giving one to the eldest man and the other to Jack. " We shouldn't be doing this. " He persisted.

"Are you scared already, huh? Or did you forget to kiss your mother goodbye? "

" I'm not scared, I just have a bad feeling about this, that's all. "

"You can go to the car and wait for us. But if we find a treasure in here, you're out of here. "

"Fine, I'm out of here. " He said and Dan held his hand.

"Why are you being such a kid, Gideon? It's probably a hidden treasure and it will be our luck if it really is. "

"Dan, I'm scared because I don't like the idea of opening a caged casket dug out from six feet of ground. It looks crazy and insane. Dan, just call me when you guys are done. " He took his hand off him, leaving for the car.

He entered the car, hanging his headset on his ears playing subway surfers. He checked the time and it was already forty minutes late and yet, Dan hasn't come to call him.

" Maybe, they might be counting their luck. " He thought to himself. Well, that doesn't seem to bother him at the moment.

An extra twenty minutes passed and Dan was yet to show up. He left the car to where the others were, he was sure he was hearing voices when he left but now, the voices were no more heard.

" Dan?" He called, " Daniel? " There was no reply. But behold, some thing or rather... some one was on him. Some one who wasn't with them when he left.

What. The. Heck!

" Daniel?! " He screamed, " Hey, get the hell out of my friend! " His gazes went to every single soul as they lay lifeless on the ground, blood stripped out of their bodies and their parts were kept different from their bodies.

He almost vomited at the sight of what he saw and yet, the figure kept feeding on his friend? " Hey, I said get off my friend! "

The figure rose his head at him, smirking. He finally stood up, walking slowly towards him. " What did you do to them? " He asked, pointing out his gun at him. " Don't come any closer, okay? "

He said nothing but wore the same evil smirk on his face. " Answer the damn question, okay? What did you do to them?! "

" Sweet, " he said, licking his lips. " I did what I had to do. What do you expect? They woke me up from my slumber and I couldn't resist the hunger anymore. " He licked the tip of his finger. They should learn how to never disturb others. "

Gideon shot two bullets at him, moving backward. But instead of the figure falling, the wounds close in a second. " What the hell are you? " He asked, trembling. " Why aren't you dying? "

He shot him again, but the figure held him by the neck, hitting his face against the window of the very car he had just come out from. Smacking his head three times on the glass, blood was rolling out of the open wounds.

He brought his face near to his ear, " And you should learn how to never intrude in privacy. " He tossed him to the ground, dashing out at full speed. Gideon crawled his way to Daniel's body, crying like a child on his chest.

Dan was like a friend to him, a brother and they have lived together since they graduated from college. Now that he was gone, life was worthless without him. Home was far away, and there was no going back home now, not now. No, not now.

After kissing him goodbye, he managed to run away, far away from the sight. The image of the figure, displaying in his head, as if he was chasing after him. He looked as if he had escaped from a psychiatric hospital, stopping at the front of each vehicle, but they kept passing him by.

Now standing in front of a busy young lady who was busy with her radio. Waving his hands at her, the car halted with a force. She stepped out of the car, her face with an angry look but she instantly calmed down as she saw him.

"W... " He didn't even let her talk, he interrupted with a million pleading.

" Please, help me. Please, take me out of here. "
