CHAPTER FIVE

Marie's POV

If Ryan Cole didn't show up the next day or send people to come for me the next day, I was fucked.

My life had just gotten more complicated in the past twenty four hours.

Before Ryan Cole, I had a stable job. Brandon was toxic and he hated me, but he let me have my job for over two years. Now that was gone.

I was home now. Tired from all the cruelty I'd had to deal with in just one day.

The electricity had been disconnected from my room because I hadn't  paid up the bill. And  I didn't have water running in my apartment.

This was classic rock bottom. This was probably the point where people gave up completely.

I dropped on my bed, kicked off my shoes and decided it was the best time to cry.

But I didn't cry.

I just lay staring at the dark ceiling.

The only source of light I had in the room was the light from the streets streaming in through the window.

Ryan Cole.

The man looked like he had stepped out of an exotic magazine. He had everything that women would kill for.  He had good looks, a sexy body and a mean face.

He had money. Load of money. Probably more money than he knew what to do with.

He was offering to pay me two hundred dollars just to pretend to be his fiancee for a week.

It sounded way too fantastic to seem true.

But all I had was hope. Because I was sure that by the time I woke up, I would not have a home anymore nor would I have a job to go back to.

“Rock bottom.”

This was the last word on my lips when I fell into a deep sleep.

The bright morning light from the window woke me up. I got up with a start, not sure about what to do with my life.

A knock came on the door.

I sat up immediately. My hair was a mess and I had drooled all over my pillows. My voice was still raspy.

But I called out.

“Who's there?”

It shouldn't be my landlord. Dear god. I held my breath as I waited for the response.

“This is Randolph. I'm sent by Ryan Cole, CEO Turnip Corps.”

Maybe my heart missed two beats at a time. Because I sprang up on my feet.

There was a bottle of water somewhere. I grabbed it, washed my face, and in a minute, I was standing at the door.

“Good morning, how may I help you?” I asked, looking from the man to the woman standing next to him. They were formally dressed and sharp.

“Mr Ryan says that he had quite some conversation with you yesterday and you took the deal he offered. We're asked to see that you get everything you need. Also, we are to take you to him in his penthouse.”

A penthouse?

“Wait, you are moving a little too fast. Is that it? You show up, whisk me away and take me to him?”

“Papers will be signed, ma'am,” the man maintained.

I folded my arms across my chest. If I was going to have any dealings with a billionaire, then I would be signing papers.

But before I could voice this, my phone pinged.

“Oh, we just processed a transfer of hundred thousand dollars to you, courtesy of Mr. Ryan.”

The world started spinning instantly. I rushed back into the room and grabbed my phone.

Right on the screen, a transfer of a hundred dollars had been sent to me from the Turnip Corps.

“You're saying I'm supposed to go with you to see Mr Ryan?” I asked when I stood in front of them again.

My hands were trembling again, but this time, it was for not so bad reasons.

“That's the down payment for the deal, ma'am. Please, only take what you consider extremely necessary. Mr Ryan has ordered for new things to be gotten for you as long as they're replaceable.”

I blinked twice.

“You can come with us now if you have nothing to pick from the room.”

I had nothing to pick from the room. I didn't have any family portraits or any fancy gifts that I wanted to go with.

I only had a dusty plastic single rose Callum had given me a year ago.

“I don't think there's something I'd like to go with,” I said.

I didn't want to be sad, but I was really going to walk away from the life I've lived for twenty four years without anything that I was unwilling to part with.

“Then we can go now. We'll get you shoes and clothes and bags that match your new status. The CEO likes to have his woman appear elegant and polished all the time. You know, fitting for his image,” the woman said, finally speaking.

I nodded. I knew I didn't look like the kind of woman someone like Ryan Cole wanted to be seen with. So it would cost him some more money to scrub the smell of hardship off me and finally get me integrated into his world.

My hair was loosely tied on top of my head. I hadn't looked in a mirror since I woke up, but now I had a hundred thousand dollars in my bank account.

I stepped out of the house and followed them.

Outside, I saw the cars they had come with. Two dark Bentleys.

The man held the car open for me.

I got into the car to find myself sitting right next to the fucking CEO.

Ryan Cole had been sitting here in this car all along, waiting for me to be brought to him.

“Good morning, Little one. How does it feel to be playing the fiancee of a billionaire?”

“Fuck hell.”

  • Roleplaying with the billionaire    One week fiancée

CHAPTER FOUR Marie's POV Be my Fiancee for one week? That sounded like the kind of things that I read in romance books. You know, stories where the woman agrees, and then she ends up falling in love with the man. This is reality. Things like that don't happen.“Uh, I appreciate whatever it is you're offering, Mr, But I'd rather be behind that counter before Brandon comes at me.”“He wouldn't be stupid enough to do that while you're standing here,” he said with authority.“Please I have other tables to attend to, I'd appreciate it if…”“Two hundred thousand dollars for a week, Marie. You simply have to act like my fiancee and not resist me.”“What are you talking about?”“I mean it. You'll be out of this gutter of a place and—”I pulled my hand away from him in one swift movement and walked off, my face hot from embarrassment. Was it so clear that I was poor?Did he really assume he could just come in here and buy me off?I had a job. A life. A broken heart to nurse back to health

  • Roleplaying with the billionaire    The offer

CHAPTER THREE Marie's POV It was bad enough that I was walking around serving tables with tears threatening to drop off my eyes, and with Brandon constantly cussing me out. I didn't want any more troubles for the day. But Ryan fucking Cole did not stop looking in my direction once he saw me. Brandon came to me as I stood behind the counter preparing the order of a customer.“Listen, girl,” he said in that ugly voice of his, “There's something more important you're going to have to do now.”“I'm preparing an order, Bran. Unless you want some woman screaming down this place, then there's nothing more important than this order I'm preparing.”Brandon was looking at me, his mouth open.“Where did you buy the guts to talk to me that way?”“I'm just saying…”“Don't get into a fight with Brandon now, Marie,” Nancy said from behind. I didn't realize she was back on duty. Right after fucking my boyfriend, she was telling me what to do.“Fuck you! You cheap ass whoring bitch!” I screamed

CHAPTER TWO Chapter TwoRyan Cole “There are very few things I can tolerate, Pete,” I said to my best friend as I leaned into the not-so-soft cushion of the bar we'd found ourselves in.“Just do what the old man wants,” Pete advised. This was like the third time he was advising me to just do what my father wanted. “I can't say you've been helpful with your counsel, Pete.”“I don't see another way out of this,” he maintained. “Is that why you brought me to a cheap bar with tough chairs?” I demanded. Pete genuinely looked amused.“The bar is not cheap and the chairs are not that hard unless you're trying to get too comfortable.”A fat man with tiny red eyes came to our table. He was well dressed.“Good afternoon, gentlemen. Welcome to Quinns Bar. I'm Brandon and I'm happy to serve you,” he said. His smile was too wide. His face was too fat and…Damn it. Everything was pissing me off. “We'll let you know when we want something,” Pete said. The man nodded and walked off. My prob

  • Roleplaying with the billionaire    A billionaire in my bar

CHAPTER ONEMarie's POV It would have been a little better if I wasn't working at the same place with my boyfriend, Callum. Knowing that you got cheated on, and seeing that you got cheated on are two entirely different things. Maybe if I'd just heard it, I'd have forgiven Callum, but I caught him with Nancy, another colleague, at the worst possible time and place. My boyfriend for three years was sleeping with my only friend at work, during their short break time. I stood at the door of the storage room, my mouth wide open as I looked at them. “Damn it, Marie, why are you acting like such a creep? You look like you’re going to freak out.” Callum asked the moment they sprang apart. He was zipping his trousers and tucking his shirt as I watched. Nancy had only had to lift her skirts and bend over a table. She was arranging her clothes now, completely avoiding my eyes. “Freak out? I haven't even said anything,” I rasped. There was a thick lump in my throat and it made speaking

  • Roleplaying with the billionaire    Prologue

“You made it to my bedroom, little one,” Ryan Cole growled as we got into the undeniably huge master bedroom in the penthouse.Made it indeed.“First, I'd appreciate it if you stopped calling me ‘little one’ and just refer to me as Marie,” I said. “And second?” He asked, his eyebrow coming up. “And what's it with making it to your bedroom? The arrangement demands that I sleep here anyway.”He walked off from me, stopped at the vanity and started taking off his cufflinks. I stood there watching him, not exactly sure what I was supposed to be doing while I was still in the insanely expensive wedding dress. “Little one sounds like something really…medieval,” I muttered. He walked back to me. “Let's get you out of that dress, little one.”There. He said it again. But I was going to be a good actress who was paid well enough to do her job, and I'll just pretend he didn't coin that nauseous pet name for me. “Fine, help me out of it,” I offered. He came closer, looming over me, his
