Alessandra's POV

I woke up to the feeling of warmth beside me. For a second, I thought I was dreaming. The sheets were tangled around my legs, and my hair was sprawled across my face. I blinked against the soft morning light seeping through the cream curtains.

Killian was sitting by the edge of my bed, his dark hair messy and his eyes shadowed with exhaustion. He wore a loose black T-shirt and grey sweatpants, making him look impossibly young yet still terrifyingly powerful.

“Morning, Ale” he said quietly, voice hoarse from sleep or silence.

“Killian,” I whispered, my chest tightening at how gentle he sounded. “You’re here. Did you sleep in my room?”

He raised a brow, leaning down until his face was inches from mine. “Where else would I be?”

I smiled softly, reaching out to touch his jaw. The rough stubble there made me shiver. “I don’t know. work?... you've been spending alot of time there”

He scoffed, but the corner of his lips curved up. “I’ll always make time for yo

Killian’s POV Lia said she was probably just an escort. That’s what Alessandra told me this morning, her voice tight like she was trying to convince herself it was nothing and she meets Lia stared at the picture longer than necessary “She asked her brother,” Alessandra had said, stirring her coffee without looking at me. “He said she was just some girl on his arm. No name, no story.” Yeah, right. Because people who vanish like smoke are always just “some girl.” I had to leave the house to think and I eventually ended up at Damon's house.....His house was as bland as my house used to be minimal furniture black and grey decor, the kind of place that felt lived-in but not warm. He was slouched on the couch, nursing a mug of black coffee, watching me like I was a bomb about to go off. “Killian,” he said, his voice calm but heavy. “Don’t,” I snapped before he could say more. “I’m not dropping this.” “I know.” “She doesn’t add up. She was there, Damon. No one invited her.

Alessandra’s POV. I couldn’t shake the pictures. They were like ghosts trapped in frames, smiling faces that didn’t know what was coming. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw them—Jeremy’s grin, my veil catching the light, the flower girl twirling barefoot. And Killian, always in the background, watching like he knew the world could break at any moment. He was at it again, hunched over his laptop on the couch, eyes bloodshot and unblinking. The screen’s glow lit up his face, making the shadows under his eyes look deeper, like bruises that wouldn’t fade. He’d been like this for days, maybe weeks, combing through every photo from the wedding, every blurry security clip, every scrap of evidence. Looking for something. Anything. “Start at the entrance again,” he said, his voice low, like he was afraid to disturb the silence. I nodded and slid onto the couch next to him. The laptop was warm under my fingers, humming from hours of use. I didn’t want to look at these pictures a

Alessandra’s POVI swiped at my cheeks, the dampness of my tears catching me off guard. Killian’s hands stayed on my face, his thumbs brushing softly against my skin, but his eyes—those sharp, storm-gray eyes—were searching, peeling back layers I wasn’t sure I wanted exposed.“I’m fine,” I mumbled, my voice cracking like thin ice. I wasn’t fine. Not even close. The image of that little boy, Killian, staring at his sister’s broken body was clawing at my insides, tearing open a wound I didn’t even know I had.“You’re not fine,” he said, his voice low, steady, like he was stating a fact carved in stone. He leaned closer, his damp hair brushing against my forehead as he tilted my chin up. “Talk to me, Ale. What’s got you like this?”I swallowed hard, my throat tight. How do you ask someone about the moment their world shattered? How do you dig into a wound that’s been scabbed over for years, maybe decades, without drawing blood? But Killian was looking at me like he already knew what was

Alessandra’s POV“Murdered?” I whispered shakily, clenching my teeth as the cold bit into my skin. Lia nodded slowly, as if trying not to reminisce. “It was all my fault…I shouldn’t have taken her there,” she repeated, clutching her face in her palms. Before long, a small tear slipped from her eyes, wetting the grass below. I bit my inner lip. Should I have asked?Lia trembled slightly, and I could see she was trying to pull herself together. Then she spoke, her words coming out in short sharp breaths. “It was her third birthday. Ronan and I thought it would be a good idea to take everyone out of the house for a nice kids party,” she paused, laughing and shaking her head like it was a stupid idea. I felt intensely conflicted, but said nothing. “We were in the middle of a very stupid blood war,” she choked out, and I held her shoulders, trying to ground her in the best way I could. Then, the grief-filled laughter returned. I had heard it when Jeremy was declared dead, like a laugh

  • Ruin Me: Falling for My Best Friend’s Fiancée   Hundred and twenty two

Alessandra’s POVMy heart nearly jumped out of my throat as I spun around, following the voice. She was the last person I even thought I’d see, even though my half aware brain knew we were at their house. “Lia,” I said breathily, clutching my chest softly. She casually strode until she stood directly in front of me, her eyes empty but heavy with emotion. She placed a hand on my cheek, but her touch was ice cold. “How have you been?” She asked softly.I swallowed. “How good could I be?” I shot her an awkward smile. She returned it, and guided me towards one of the benches in the garden. It was cold metal, and it seeped slowly into my veins. My chest was a mess. Lia wasn’t scary, she didn’t have any reason to seem that way. But, well there’s always a but. “You know, I could always picture you two together. Unstoppable. But at the same time, it was never hard to know when Killian was fixated on something,” she began, catching me off guard.“I guess,” was the only thing I could muster.

  • Ruin Me: Falling for My Best Friend’s Fiancée   Hundred and twenty one

Alessandra’s POV Present day “So…..what were you up to in the past month? I tried to reach out, but I didn’t hear from you.” His hand stilled on my back. Those soft, feather-light strokes that had been soothing me into a strange kind of peace just… stopped. I didn’t move. I kept my head on his chest, jaw resting against his skin, listening to the silence grow thick around us. It’s been three days since the council meeting. Three days since the gunshot. Since the kiss. And I’ve been here, at Ronan’s place, ever since. I should be worried about my mum, and maybe a part of me still is—but Ronan won’t hurt her. Not while he still believes she can finish the formula for Nexus. He needs her. And she’s using that. She made me swear not to tell him the truth. Promised him she’d keep working on it, promised me she’d buy time. And in return, she made me promise something, too—that I’d find a way for us to get out. For both of us to leave this place for good. But before that... she asked
