Cynthia
Age-14
“You look like someone I know.” I said to the lady sitting with me as we swang above the sparkling turquoise colour water. My feet dipped in the cold serene water everytime we went past it and hair were busy dancing with the small blue birds chirping around us. I could also feel the fresh air kiss my pale skin and i just knew this was my home. i was still trying to catch one of the bird when she finally spoke.
“One day, you will have to face the whole world my dear girl.” She said and caressed my platinum blond hair.
“Do you think, I would be able to do that?” I asked not meeting her eyes, I was scared she will look disappointed, instead I chose to admire my pretty surrounding. wemight be swinging over a lake maybe but there was no land in sight, only clouds and pretty birds and fishes. I giggled when one red fish jumped near my left foot.
“You are capable of anything my Cynthia, you are so gentle inside that I didn’t want you to go down there but mother had no choice.” She said while kissing my head.
I looked up confused, “Why mother? Was I being very bad?”
“No, my sweet kiddo, the reason I had to let you go is because your fate was too ruthless.”
“Mother what does that mean?”
“It’s-
*LOUD ALARM RINGING*
Urghhh! Same dream, same interruption and same questions. Who was that lady whom I always call mother? What is she always talking about? So many questions but no answers in sight. I was really losing my mind. Well, congrats Thia now you also have Aaron to trouble you. Man! I am even calling him by his given name, without his tittle great, but really isn’t that my right now? after all he is my mate.
“Cynthia Michaels!! Stop your day dreaming and get ready for school.” My Dad called from the door as Riley walked out from her room, rubbing her bed-head across the hall. Catching up the opportunity, I made a run for the bathroom but unfortunately Riles was fast and made it first. Damn it! She again got in first.
I groaned while Dad laughed at us, “oh dear daughter, I have always told you don’t sleep away your-”
“-opportunities” I completed his usual dialogue which he dictates whenever I wake up late.
“Daddy not now! I am getting late” I said while running around the room to get ready for school.
“Will that lad be coming here again?’’ Dad asked.
“Daddy his name is Cole, Cole Murray, our Headmaster’s son and yes we all go together while dropping Riley on the way.”
“I don’t understand why does he have to come? You are more than capable to walk yourself” he inquired.
“Dad, for god’s sake he is not my- what did you call him the other day, yeah suitor, he is just my friend, by the things are moving probably my only friend.’’ I said to him feeling down all of a sudden but Dad understood and hugged me with so much love that I knew no matter what happens I will always have my family with me. Not able to shift in front of anyone was starting to affect my social standing, people were doubting my abilities. I knew sooner or later I will have to shift but I really couldn’t decide how to do that. If I shift with my white fur, it will be no less than calling for trouble.
“Honey! I know, you are worried but believe me I know some shifters who shift even at 18, it’s no big deal at all.” He re-assured me. His words were kind but made me wonder, no matter how much he assures me but I also noticed he never says that even if I don’t shift, I will be ok. Looks like even he knows that’s not something either of us will be able to handle. We are at the bottom already and if I couldn’t even shift, we will be declared outcast for sure. I shudder at the thought and finally got ready for school leaving all my anxieties for the time being.
Riley and I were busy eating the scrambled eggs and hot milk Dad made us when I felt his presence. I looked toward the door just as the second later the door bell rang and Dad went for the door.
“Cole is early than usual” Riley said biting into her toast. I didn’t even realise but the words were out of my mouth.
“It’s not Cole.” And to prove my statement, Aaron walked in when Dad opened the door. He was looking as handsome as always making my heart pitter-patter. His fresh showered blonde hair was combed back and his strong frame was draped in cotton white shirt and blue ripped denim jeans. One of his hands was combing his wet hairs back to stop them from falling on his forehead while other was resting on his waist. He looked worried for some reason and that troubled me. I could feel his annoyance at something. What’s wrong mate mine? I wanted to ask so badly.
“Seth are you free today?” Aaron asked dad, still unaware of my presence, his supposed mate, his fated mate.
“Good morning to you too King Aaron.” Dad teased him as he untied his apron and hanged it near the door. Instead of answering him, Aaron just glared at him with his alpha stare. Dad shook his head at him and just nodded. When Aaron started to turn back to the door then only, he caught us in his royal sight. His deep blue eyes stopped at me for a second making me wish he might recognise me but then they passed on to my little sister and I knew I was still a nobody to him.
“Good morning ladies!” he greeted us with a gentle smile which if anyone knows him will know was a little forced. I can’t believe this, just the sole knowledge of him being my mate has made me aware of him so much.
“Good morning King Aaron!’’ we both greeted him back.
He smiled “I hope you troublemakers take it easy on your parents today.” he teased us and made my Dad laugh while Riley and I just rolled our eyes.
‘’We wish, don’t we little angels?’’ Dad teased along.
‘’Daddy we are not that bad!’’ I said when my face starting turning red in shame. He’ s my mate for god’s sake. He doesn’t need more things to repulse him from me. Why dear moon goddess? Why couldn’t I have some common man as a mate?
‘’Okay ladies, have a good day at school, Daddy and I will be going now.” Aaron said and nodded at my Dad.
While riley replied, I didn’t bother. every time I see Aaron not recognising me, I strangely feel rejected. He is blocking our bond and that sucks. I know we can not be in a relationship just yet, but still having your mate by your side even as a friend is the biggest blessing.
Cynthia Age-14 “Is everything ok babe?’’ Cole asked. I glared at him and punched his back, “Shut up and don’t call me that!’’ Today he was in his casual black tee and dark denim jeans. His green eyes were sparkling with sun and deep brown hair were less shabby than usual. Whoa! What am I doing? Recognising my mate has surely made me aware of opposite sex but Cole? No way, I will not notice his looks. “Seriously Thia, you have been very quiet today.” Cole said, worry etched on his face. Cole is my best friend and he definitely cares for me. Can I really tell him my secret and trust him to keep it to himself? Can I honestly pour my heart to him? He might even understand my pain and maybe he can help me too. But no, I can’t, not until Aaron knows, telling him first feels wrong. “I- I just hate I can’t shift yet.” I lied and avoided his eyes in shame and felt a pang of guilt. No matter how I justify this, I am still lying to my friend.
Cynthia Age-14 After Aaron left me there all alone, I didn’t waste any time and started my walk back home. I knew now I will have to come clean to my parents no matter the consequences. Hearing Aaron’s pain for my parents makes me feel stupid now. every reason that I thought was good enough now only looks like an excuse. The reason I wanted to hide my beast from my parents was that I thought I would turn blonde after finding my mate most definitely and even if not that I thought turning 18 would help me. But knowing how Dad wanted to elope with us to save me changes everything. I can’t let them destroy their lives for me. I know shifting with my color will bring much more wrath than now but I can’t help this anymore. The least I can do is tell my parents the truth and no I will not escape this clan. Things have changed now. I have a mate now. Aaron, Alpha King Aaron. I probably knew him all my life but strangely my first memory of him is when I was ar
“What did you say honey?” Mom asked, still distracted with her favourite show,‘Miss Glasshorn of the year’.“I need to talk about something, with you and Dad.” I murmured looking down at my feet. Riley was busy scrolling through her phone but at my low voice, she looked up and raised her left brow at me in question. Even Mom got the hang of the situation and muted the television. But before Mom could ask me anything, Dad entered the house with his apron still tied around his waist.“I swear, this piece is taking ages to complete, that Jims is going to have my head if I am not on time.” Dad was still busy with untying his apron and cleaning his work shoes as he told us about his latest sculpture. Jims is his dealer and he is always very strict with his deadlines, although I don’t say it but I know it’s
CynthiaAge-14No one loves me, cares for me.Stop it, Cynthia! It's all your fault. You did this. But they are my family! They should try to understand me.Understand how you almost destroyed them? No! fine, I am the villain here! Kill me! I left them now, didn’t I? They can live happily ever after without me. They can love Riley as much as they want while their good-for-nothing daughter is withering away in this scary and dark forest. Away from everyone. Everyone in the clan must be partying right now. I am sure Dad must have alerted the Beta force by now. He must have done that right? He at least would bother to alert the authorities, right? Even if he doesn’t, Mom would, right? God, Cynthia, you are such an attention seeker. Urghh! I am literally talking to myself for the past five minutes like a complete lunatic.“What is wrong with me?” I groan out loud and hold my head in frustration. the dark forest doe
After reaching the safe territory I release Finn, who doesn't waste any time and runs toward the forest in the opposite direction. Watching him enter there safely I also shift back. After a minute Willa catches up with me and shifts back. Looking at each other we both hug in relief. “That was close” Willa sighs and lays down on the soft green grass at the open ground behind the Royal Villa. This is the only place any rogue would think twice before coming so this should be safe.“Very close, I could even smell their evilness.” I exaggerate and Willa laughs.“Seriously Cyn! I love the thrill and all but we got to be careful, especially with your beast.” Willa with a deep frown on her face, warns me and I agree with her. People now know I can shift but not everyone has seen me. The reason I am finally an outcast because everyone has their own theory about my beast. Some believe I hide because it’s hideous and s
After Leaving Willa at the Royal Villa, Aaron is taking us to my home in his old Jeep. No matter how high and rich his status is but he is very down to earth with his lifestyle choices. I have never seen him flaunting his status and money, which I admire. There is a reason he is so respected and admired as a King. according to my history classes, he is the youngest King Glasshorn has ever seen yet no one questions his authority. I am surely, very blessed to have him as my mate but i still don't know if we are right for each other.“How is school, Little Cynthia?” Aaron asks breaking the awkward silence between us. for a second I think about ignoring him altogether but then think otherwise and reply.“Stop calling me little,” I murmur and look outside the moving jeep.“Cynthia, look at me.” He growls at me as we take a turn toward the dark forest's hidden path.I sigh but oblige. As I turn and meet his deep b
After reaching the hunting ground early, Riley and I look for Mom who was knee-deep in the preparations. Mom’s job doesn’t have a particular description but you could say she is the Queen Dowager’s Manager’s assistant. The job might have been not that special but it suited Mom. No matter what Dad thinks, I believe it was the right step for her as well for us as a family. she seems happy after getting this job and I am happy for her.“Riley, your friends are here. You can go with them and I will join you after finishing this.” I say to Riley who is checking the to-do list. I know she won't say it but her frequent glances at the watch is an clear indication of her excitement. I might be an outcast but my sister is a total rockstar and i love seeing her happy and vibrant.“You sure?” she asks with a gu
Chapter-11CynthiaAge-16I was running toward the backside of the event ground. I could still hear the crowd cheering and oohing over the contenders. They were all really excited but no one probably saw that Cole wasn’t there. That stupid guy disappeared from the screen before they even crossed the first level. I was running as Riley followed me. I didn’t want her here but she just won’t listen.“Go back, Riley. I am warning you!! My head is already fucked up because of that stupid dumb guy. I don’t want to worry about you too.”“But I could help you. I am not le
