The message still burned in Celeste’s mind: “The past isn’t dead. It’s hunting you both.”

She didn’t sleep that night. Damien stayed close, but neither of them spoke much. Their silence was louder than words.

By morning, Celeste had made her decision.

“I want to see the old estate,” she said.

Damien looked up, confused. “Which one?”

“The one my mother used to visit. The one she left behind.”

Damien’s jaw tensed. “It’s not safe there.”

“Neither is anywhere else,” she said. “I need answers.”

The drive was long and quiet. Trees grew wild on both sides of the road. The estate sat on a hill, forgotten and broken. Vines curled around stone walls. The windows were cracked. The gate hung crooked.

Celeste stepped out of the car, heart racing. The place felt cold even under the sun.

“This was hers,” she whispered.

Damien stayed by the car. “I’ll keep watch.”

She didn’t argue. This became a task she had to do on her very own.

The front door made a noise as she pushed it open. Dust

Celeste sat alone in the back seat of a black vehicle as it drove via the empty geographical region. The road changed into lengthy and quiet. Tall trees stood like silent guards on each sides. The air felt cold, the home windows were foggy, and the silence among her and the driving force stretched for miles. Her palms clutched the worn fringe of a small, leather-sure diary. Her mother’s diary.A week had exceeded since the reunion together with her sister. Celeste couldn’t neglect the blank look in her sister’s eyes. It turned into like their adolescence memories were gone. Erased. That was when Celeste knew she had to locate answers some place else. The diary had led her right here—to a far flung house deep in the woods, as soon as owned via her circle of relatives. She hadn’t been there since she was a little girl The car stopped in front of an antique iron gate. The driver, a former rebel named Tess, turned to her. “Are you sure about this?” Tess asked softly.Celeste nodded. “I n

The mountains were still, wrapped in a soft fog. The sun peeked over the ridgeline as Celeste walked beside Damien toward the rebel safehouse’s command center. They had barely slept. Too many secrets. Too many revelations. And now, they needed answers.Inside, Emilia stood over a massive digital map projected on the wall. Aurora and two tech specialists sat at a table with tablets and open files. A red dot blinked on one of the maps.Emilia looked up. "You're just in time. We found something."Celeste crossed her arms. "Found what?"Aurora tapped the screen. "A server hidden in Geneva. A storage unit linked to the Viper’s last known accounts. Encrypted, but it matches some of the financial signatures from your mother's original ledgers."Damien leaned forward. "What does it hold?"Emilia stepped in. "The final ledger."Celeste blinked. "The one he used to control governments and banks?""Yes," Emilia said. "It’s not just a book of names. It's access. Control of a hidden financial netw

Damien clenched his jaw as he held the guidance wheel tightly while the typhoon raged out of doors.Every other typhoon changed into building up in his coronary heart.Celeste could see he was tense. But she remained silent, feeling tense and tightly coiled beside him.The rain fell hard on the car windows, streaking as it poured down. The typhoon intensified as if mirroring the storm inside Damien.Celeste seemed out the window, misplaced in her very own mind, as the silence stretched on.Finally, she asked. "Where are we going?""To see someone that I promised I would never see again," Damien said flatly.Celeste looked over at him. "Your mother?"Damien nodded once, the weight of the moment heavy. "She’s the only one who can apply pressure on the Viper. Right now, we don’t have any other options."Celeste felt a strange constriction in her chest. Damien hates to talk about his family, especially his mother. Each time he spoke about his mom, it changed into acrimonious bitterness.Th

The morning after the Viper’s video leak, the world turned on Celeste. The dreaded, bloodied and wide-eyed image of her father was repeatedly shown on the clip on various TVs, all across the world. She was surprised by what she saw. Her father that was previously seen as the victim is now portrayed as a murderer. Bold fonts shouted headlines:"Celeste Moreau: Daughter of a Murderer?""Legacy or Lie: Who Is Celeste Really?""Blood on Her Name?"Celeste sat frozen in the small living room of the safehouse. The TV was muted, but the damage had already been done. Her face was everywhere. Her name had been poisoned. Her bloodline shattered.Damien entered the room and turned off the screen. He remained silent. His expression was void as he looked at her."It’s all in the open," she whispered. "Now, everyone thinks I knew."He came closer. "We’ll fix this.""How? They think I’m the enemy now."Damien sat beside her. "Let them. We’ll survive this together."But even his voice sounded tired.

The rain was pouring heavily outside. Celeste got out of the car. She had hair stuck to her face and her dress to her body. She was shivering..She had made the choice. She had left her mother’s rebellion camp. She had chosen Damien. Now she had to face him.The house was quiet. Too quiet. She entered and shut the door behind her. The marble ground had grimy marks from her boots."Damien?" she rang out.No reaction. Her heart was bumping blood faster than usual. She walked carefully down the corridor. He was sitting in the study. His face came into view as he was lightly tilting the drink in his hand and eyes fixed on the dancing flames when she opened the door.He didn't raise his head or make a sound.“I thought you left me,” he said.“I came back,” she replied. He finally turned to face her. His eyes were red. “Why did you go?”“I had to see her,” Celeste said. “I had to know if she was really alive. If everything is true.”“And was it?” he asked bitterly. She nodded slowly. “Yes.”

  • Ruthless Vows: The Billionaire Revenge   Chapter 36: Mother Of Deception

Chapter 36: Mother Of Deception The room was cold. Not just from the air, but from the silence between them. Celeste stood in front of her mother. Emilia. Alive. Real. But not the woman she remembered. She looked at her now—dressed in all black, her eyes hard, her lips tight. There was no smile, no warmth. Just a calm coldness that scared Celeste more than anything else. "Sit," Emilia said. Celeste didn’t move. “You planned everything?” “Yes.” “You started the war?” “Yes.” “Why?” Emilia walked over to a small table and poured herself tea like this was just a simple chat. “Because I knew no one else could.” Celeste shook her head. “You faked your death. You left me. You used Isla.” Emilia sipped her tea. “You were too soft. I had to push you to become strong.” Celeste stepped forward. “You don’t get to decide that.” “I do,” Emilia said. “Because I made you. And now, I need you to finish what I started.” Celeste’s heart pounded. “You want me to take over the war?” “Y
