I couldn’t believe what just happened. My hand was still tingling from her slap. My face burned. My ears were ringing. Lyra… she just slapped me. Hard. And she didn’t even look sorry. Not even a tiny bit. She just… looked at me with those big eyes and said, “Stop acting like you’re my boss.”

My brain froze. I blinked a couple of times, trying to understand. Wait… what? “What just happened?” I muttered to myself.
