CHAPTER 10

My hands flipped through the files contained within the envelope as i tried hard to piece one or two together.

It was as what the professor had said; these files could only prove that my parents death were more deliberate than an accident. Yet, it didn't provide conclusive evidence on who the perpetrator might be.

I flung the files unto the coffee table in annoyance, i had looked over it a hundred times and yet - there was no clue. No trace..... no trails.

This was the kind of thing that had me pissed off to no ends - chasing a lead that goes absolutely nowhere.

I reclined on the sofa with my thoughts scrambling around and everywhere. Having nothing to do, i switched on the television - hoping to distract my mind and get my thoughts in order.

I tuned in to the entertainment channel, the sounds of the t.v soothed my aching mind which made me sigh in relief.

    He placed his hands right over his agape mouth, his eyes widening in shock and disbelief. I brought out my phone, showing him pictures of the dress and it's current situation. "When i went there, it was already like this". I placed my phone back into my purse, my eyes examining his change in expressions.     The set was dark and eerily quiet without a person in sight, i guess that everyone was already present at the event. I held on to my phone which was the only source of light, my footsteps echoing as i walked past some props that had been neatly arranged in a brown box. I walked to my locker room pulling out the keys as it jingled in the silence. I waved my phone around trying to spot where the dress was or where the vice director must have left it. My flashlight landed on a red dress that hung on a mannequin. A quick sigh escaped my lips...... I had found it, albeit not in a very good condition. It was torn and shredded with the pieces of red clothes laying around the base of the mannequin. I clicked my tongue, cursing my miserable luck. I walked up to it, my hands tracing the fabric - this dress was practically unsalvageable. It was a sleeveless long dress, embroidered with golden threads that were vibrant and full of vigor.     "Ma'am, have you seen the news yet?" Bennett jumped before me excitedly, holding her tablet in her hands as she smiled brightly.
