PROLOGUE

At a far distance, a series of gunshots can be heard in this building I am standing in front of. Despite wanting to look and take a peek at the shooting range inside of the school. But, I have an important appointment right now that I can't wait for.

As if I want it though.

When my old man became the principal of this place, he changed. I can't name how many or what changes it is but, it is also hard for me to determine if it is a good thing or a bad thing.

My old man is so persistent and so passionate in this school. To the fact that he can't determine his family's needs and wants. I do not despise him though... I am just a bit... disappointed.

As I opened the door of the office and entered it, I was startled a bit to see a figure, sitting at the place where my old man is supposedly sitting.

I gulped when I saw the pair of red eyes that seemed to be looking at me like I am being locked on as his prey. I can't help but proceed to the seat that is for the guests. I chose to ignore those creepy eyes and my impression of it and I took a seat as I saw my old man standing behind the figure on the seat that was occupied earlier.

He's gone? When?

I asked myself. But I didn't dare to utter a sound about it. Because I do admit that I am scared. I am scared with those eyes.

The principal office compared to the usual offices is so dim. It's like a lair of a monster that hides behind the shadows that if you are not cautious enough, you will be devoured in a breath's time.

It's strange for my old man to be used to this kind of room because as far as I can remember, he wants light... more light as possible. But when he became the principal of this place, he changed. And I don't know if this is a good thing or not. I hope... it's a good thing, though.

"What now, old man?" I asked right away as I crossed my legs and arms, ignoring the creeps I am still feeling right now.

"She's practicing again." He said nonchalantly while looking at the direction of the shooting range.

"Who?" I asked curiously. Because to begin with, I have no idea who this 'she'. And somehow, I feel slightly bitter inside of me while watching my old man who is also looking towards the others despite me being near him.

Am I... jealous?

Impossible! I am not that childish.

He then turned to face me and the former light in his face faded and became sharp as he wore his serious expression like flipping a page.

"I want you to stay here and study at the Oracle Academy." He said that made me jump out of my seat.

"What?! Are you kidding me? If so, it's not funny, old man! I am already satisfied and happy in the Ace Academy for goodness sake! Tell me a good reason for me to transfer here or else, forget it!" I exclaimed out of frustration.

What is his reason to meddle with my life? At all times, why now?!

I paused as I remembered those pair of sharp eyes earlier. Is that man the reason for this? Even though I want to ask him this, I don't want to copy him, meddling and interfering with his stuff. I don't want to be involved in his business even after my mother's death, his wife.

"I am not informing you about this because... this is an order. And all you need to do is to follow this order obediently or else I myself am not sure what I can do with your stubbornness!" He said with sharp and threatening eyes.

Why? Why is he so irritated though I am the one who is supposed to be angry with such an unreasonable 'order' of 'his'

He changed! He changed completely. I can't even see the father I used to have before my mother is still alive and we are living as a complete and perfect family. But ever since my mother died and he became a principal of Oracle Academy, he seems to have changed.

And now, I can see it clearly. And as far as I can still remember the past 'him'. His words will happen for sure. And that 'transferring', even without me asking, he already retrieved my records and sent it to the teacher in-charge. In other words, I am powerless against him... completely.

I sighed and lowered my head. He is still my father. However I act as a rebellious son to him, he is the only family I have left.

"I apologize. I will follow your orders." I can't afford to meet his eyes. I am afraid.

A few moments have passed. I heard my old man sigh and then in a low and gentle voice, he spoke once again.

"Good. Your papers are already processed. All you need to do is pay a visit to the SSG building. Meet the President and take your classes more seriously. It may not look like it but... Oracle Academy is way better than your Ace Academy in terms of management and teaching system." He said.

I know that fact. I also want to study here before. But I don't have the guts to ask my old man because I feel like using my status as his son to get what I want. But as the saying goes, there are things that are more than meets the eye with this school. I want to see it with my own eyes.

"Why me, father?" I asked.

I know that as his only son, I am the only candidate for being chosen by him. But curiosity is killing me. I want to ask... Why?

He stood up and returned to his previous position, facing the now silent shooting range of the school.

"You have a duty to take that is highly confidential. As my son, I can only rely and count on you with this important task." He said that made me smile.

He trusts me. And that is more than enough for me to happily oblige with this 'order' he gave me.
