Xurion’s POV

“Guys, let go!” Circe hollered behind me as I climbed the stairway heading to my room.

Games…with Circe?

My head can't seem to recall ever playing games with her.

The strange excitement I felt about this proposal coming from her made my heart bounce up and down.

Why do I feel so elated about an ordinary game?

Though having Drayton come with us doesn't sit well with me, the fact that Circe wants me to be there and that would make her happy too, made me giddy.

And just now it dawned on me how the last five years of my life with her had been.

We lived like a robotic couple.

No talks.

No laughs.

Not even couples quarrel.

I don't even remember us having dinner together.

Couch cupcake evenings?? Even birthdays.

Just coldness, sprinkled with grunts as ‘good morning’, dismissive hand waves as ‘thank you’

Silence, tossed with some unasked errands.

A sigh shot through my lips.

Stuffs like, piling up her laundry for me. Leaving her dish out for me.

Dropping her bags and most times shoes at the front door carelessly.

Leaving her jackets on the couch. Abandoning important documents on the dining table but waking up the next morning and heading straight to the files shelves to get them without wondering or bothering how they got there.

And yeah, cruel bully.

Like spilling dirt and food all over me while glued to her phone.

Stamping on wet floors I had earlier cleaned. Spilling floor cleaners or cooking oils without attempts to clean them up.

I was totally invisible to her.

Like an antique or wall decoration.

Or better, a faulty wall clock. No use, just hanging over the wall till it’s finally replaced.

Worst. Times when I try to meet up with her, to fulfil our intimate duties, it's either she sends me out of her room, which is why we don't share the same room.

Or she locks me out. And most of the time pretends to be asleep.

And when she eventually comes for me by herself. I call those very scanty opportunities a ‘once time’.

She'd never let me kiss her, just pleasure her, while she moans another man's name, “ Drayton,” and once she was fully undone, she'd just wave me off and go to bed, while I returned to my bed unfulfilled.

“ My dad wanted me to join the military, but I loved acting,” Caspian's voice brimmed out in the long corridor.

“It's the same here man, cause my dad wanted me in medicine but I wanted business, choices differ.” Drayton responded, his voice was proud and annoying.

I can't still get over the fact that I heard Drayton's voice around the house.

The heck.

My heart flipped when I got closer.

A frown caused my brows to fold.

Drayton was…Caspian moved Drayton into Circe's room?

My feet stopped just before Circe's door.

My lips forced to fall wide apart but I held them together, instead.

Does Circe even know about all this new development?

My heart cracked.

Circe's gleeful voice boomed from her room, “I’m glad you did business, Dray, just like me, so I can really use your help. I mean, it's better off than a pointless space thing…astronaut.”

I heard them laugh at her words.

It felt like I had my heart placed on a chop board and chopped into chips.

Circe if I hadn't sacrificed my career to heal you, you won't call my whole years in school and in service pointless.

And I remembered just like yesterday, that you never wanted me in the same room as you.

And now you don't even mind that your ex-boyfriend was going to stay in the same room as you.

I tried to move but the weight of the betrayal held my legs in place.

Fire blazed behind my ribs like lava.

Days.

All I just need is a few days to get the fucking hell out of this place.

“Hi,” Circe's voice broke me off from my head, “ W-we…you should get ready because we are leaving soon.” She said, her eyes somewhat watery.

Was she afraid I heard them?

Or probably because I wasn't supposed to be here anyways.

Something caught my eyes from her room.

Jesus.

I bit my chin and fought my eyes off from there.

“Yeah, I will just grab my bag,” I said quickly, fighting the emotions that clawed up my chest and pretending like I was blank up there.

“Alright, sure,” I muttered again and left for my room.

Minutes later after I got out, I met Drayton and Caspian, resting against Circe's car, and as soon as I came into view I heard them sniff laughter's between them.

“ Come on, Xurion. It's a game not a kids birthday party,” Caspian mocked looking over my outfit and Drayton joined him, cackling like a hyena.

I just walked over to the garden and waited there, just minding my business.

Soon, Circe walked out, her kit bag in hand.

As I walked towards them, I watched Drayton walk up to her and she smiled, like he said something exciting.

As they settled into the car, I joined them.

And just like that Drayton bounced into the front seat like he should, no, like he belonged there.

My heart blazed.

I should've just let him play cocky but the heat in my chest grew too big to hold and I had to ruin his fun.

“Circe get behind, I'll drive us to the pitch,” I opted and I had us driven.

The journey there was eerily awkward because of the dead silence that seemed to be louder than our breaths.

“I'll get that,” I offered to help Circe as we off-loaded our bags at the stadium’s parking space.

“Thank you,” She handed her bag to me and for the first time thanked me properly.

Did that come from her heart? If it did, then it just reduced the flaring in my chest.

Drayton appeared from behind, “I’m definitely checking the swimming pool first, are you gonna join me?” He asked, referring to Circe.

“Yeah, sure I'd love to,” Circe chirped, “ do you mean right away?”

“Yeah, but…” He stressed and looked over to me.

Circe turned to me too and shook her head, “ Xurion wouldn't mind, do you, Xurion?” She asked.

“It's alright.” I shook my head glancing away from them.

“Oh, yeah,” Drayton's voice surged as he walked back towards me, “ Could you carry my bag, I hit my tennis wrist lately and it aches badly,” He finished and winced, rubbing on his right elbow.

Has he gone crazy?

The heat in my chest returned heavier and I chewed my teeth.

My knuckles cracked as my fist tightened beside me.

“Xurion!” Circe called and I glanced up slowly.

Shit.

My eyes widened.

“Circe, watch out!”

My heart skipped as a recklessly driven car sped towards Circe.

Without thinking, I pushed Drayton off my face, reaching Circe immediately with luck before the car would hit her.

I shielded her from the impact and luckily the driver swerved and turned, but he hit me, causing me to crash over against another parked car.

“Xurion, Xurion, are you okay?” Circe towered over me, “Should we go to the hospital?”

I groaned in pain.

“Ouch! My wrist. Xurion broke my wrist, help me Circe,” Drayton cried for help, and curled on the ground.

“Did you do that on purpose because you don't like him?” Caspian asked, baffled.

Confusion squeezed my brows.

And just like lightning, Circe left me and ran to him.

“Are you okay?” Circe perused Drayton, her eyes glassy with tears and concern webbed her face.

And just like that I felt my heart slip and shatter like glass.

It was I who was hit by that car.

It was I who risked it to save her.

“We need to go to the hospital.” Circe cried with fear, helping Drayton to the car.

“I saved you, Circe,” I tried reminding her.

“ No! You caused it, you pushed him over and hurt his arm because you don't like him. It's your fault!” Circe barked in abhorrence.

“ I'm hurt also.”

“Find your way to the car now!”

That was all she spared me and walked off with Drayton.

And I watched my so-claimed wife worry for another man to the hospital, leaving me to mourn in distress and the pain that started to numb my body.

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter Six : Back to help.

Circe's POV The tension in the room grew thick, it could choke. My eyes shut as I spoke, “ Xurion, get his bags,” I persuaded. But he didn't move. Instead he looked like he was about to break down the building. Definitely on Drayton. And I hate that he over-flogs my intentions…everytime. “I'll get that,” Caspian offered, grabbing Drayton's bags and leading him. “Xurion, we need to talk.” “You sure have some explanations, Circe,” Xurion knocked off, “ What is…” he paused, running his hands through his hair. It's frustrating that I don't even know why he's acting up, practically over what's not. I mean, Drayton? “Stop it, okay?? You have to calm down,” “Stop what exactly?” He snapped, and I swear I saw jealousy flood his eyes, but they disappeared almost instantly, “What is he doing here?” He asked, face dull in anger or something. “Oh oh, Babe you see, I understand what you feel,” I started, holding him, “ He's just a…damn friend, and he's not gonna be here f

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter Five: The Last Straw

Xurion's POV I threw the last of my stuffs into my bag.“Five years. There's nothing much of my stuffs here anyways.”In the next few days, I'd be back to my dreams. And I don't have to bother Circe anymore.A knock came on the front door.I boxed my bag into the cupboard and then went to get the door.Caspian, Circe's twin brother walked in, his both hands dug into his pockets. His curly blonde hair fell to his face and he looked just like Circe, save for his eyes, that's rather brown and the innocent glasses that sat on his nose bridge. He had a body structure just like Gary, tall and built, but he is undoubtedly different from him. If arrogance had a face and pride had a name, it would be Caspian in person.Right now he's wearing a deep scowl, I could mistake him for a gorilla or something. The heck! This wasn't the right time to be pissed off.“Hey man! Didn't we discuss this?” His pissing low tone asked, as he shut the door with his leg, “ I knock and you open as soon as possi

Xurion's POVMr. Landon’s words made my heart tap, “How do you feel about going to Mars, Xurion?”I felt like I needed someone to pull me out of my revelry.Like I was in a dream. Or had a virtual reality headset strapped to my head, or something.Space was always my dream. When I got married to Circe, I shelved it for her.She doesn't even see it.But not anymore. With the best confident voice I had in my lungs, I answered, “Count me in sir!”“That's what I want to hear!” His voice rose with glee, “I’m confident in your decisions.”He said.As we spoke, I felt like the proudest man in the world.I'd never been this proud or felt worthy for a long time.I've been made to feel inferior for so long I almost started believing everything Circe said about me.But her words doesn't define, anymore. Not now that she's signed us apart forever.“Full transparency here, Xurion,” Mr. Landon continued, his tone sweet to my ears. “ You are gonna be off planet for a year,” he paused, letting it sim

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter Three: Divorced: The unexpected call

Xurion's POV “Let's get a divorce,” I repeated slowly. The word tasted like sour candy in my mouth. She stared in shock. Surprised. Or excited maybe. Her phone dinged. “Whatever!” She said, returning to her phone. My breath stalled mid-chest.Was she going to..?“Where are you, Dray?” She picked the pen, uncapped it and just like that…signed the divorce papers. “I can't wait to see you too. Yeah, no, no, I'm gonna get changed and I will be right out, okay?” The same reaction always.I talk and you tune out. Even when my speech was harmless. And even when I'm asking for a divorce. You didn't even hesitate and threw five years of our life away. Was she anticipating it before now?Excitedly, she stands up and leaves.“Circe, do you even have the idea what you just signed?” I asked, perplexed and still trying to understand what just happened. She suddenly furrowed, her blue eyes practically glinting under the bright white light. “Yeah, some form about my medical treatment,” she answe

  • SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE NOW SHE REGRETS   Chapter Two: Let's get a divorce

Xurion's POV “Why do you have Drayton's jacket?” I asked, turning to look at her, the word came out sharper than I meant it to be.“Oh my God,” she half smiled, her expression shifting from devastation to, I don’t know, something way irritating.“We were drinking in his hotel room and I spilled some wine on myself, so I showered and changed my clothes, and I borrowed his jacket.” She explained, her voice bubbling with confidence.“You were at his hotel room, drinking alone and…,” I paused and ran my fingers through my hair, my jaw clamped tight, “it doesn't matter,” I gulped down my words, though the feeling of being cheated on twisted in my chest.I wanted to explain. I wanted to tell her how I felt about her ex-boyfriend sharing a room with her…in my absence. I wanted to remind her how he'd hurt her in the past and was suddenly trying to walk into the walls she'd built all these years, like nothing happened. But she'd accuse me of jealousy or being over-protective of her.I mean,
