Rafael

I felt the prick of the knife as it sliced my skin, and blood pooled at my chest.

I winced in pain as the knife sank deeper into my skin.

In a split moment, her head snapped to the side and she fell to the floor, bleeding from her head.

I looked up and saw Elena, holding the jewelry stand in her hand, blood streaking its white exterior.

Her hands trembled and her eyes were wide at the unconscious, maybe dead, lady on the floor.

"Did... Did I... Did I kill her?" Elena said, trembling.

Elena “You whore,” he yelled, with less surprise than I had expected, but his words—still heavy—cracked through the room, sharp and sudden, and my body reacted before my mind did. I tore myself out of Rafael’s arms, my heart thundering in my chest so hard it felt lodged at the base of my throat, choking me from the inside. “Fuck.” Rafael cursed under his breath, low and calm. Too calm. A bead of sweat slid down my forehead as the Don circled us slowly, deliberately—like a predator stalking his prey. “Putana.” He spat the word, and his hand shot out, fingers closing around my throat. Rafael lunged for him, trying to grab his arm. The Don snapped his head toward him. “Stay out of this, boy.” His voice shook the entire room. Rafael froze and pulled back. Pulled back? My stomach dropped. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His fists were clenched at his sides, knuckles whitening, jaw tight—but he wasn’t moving. He wasn’t doing anything. Why wasn’t he doing anything?

  • SINFULLY HIS    CHAPTER 46

Elena It had been a while since I'd seen the Don. In fact, since we got to the island, he had no use for me. But today was the day we had to keep up appearances. My stomach twisted into a thousand knots, and my hands trembled as I sat silently on my bed—already dressed, already ready. Just waiting. The dreaded knock came, just once. I hurriedly got to my feet, adjusting the peach-colored dress I wore. I held my purse tightly and opened the door. The Don was outside my door, his face as straight as ever, holding out his arm to me. I slowly stepped out, closed the door behind me, and linked my arm with his stiff one. As we stepped out of the hotel, a small open carriage stood at the exit, a horse tied to it. The rope, made of white vines and adorned with flowers, held the horse in place. The rather large horse started trotting its way to the open field, where the wedding was to be held. My body stayed as rigid as when I had left my hotel room, but it was safe to say the Don took

  • SINFULLY HIS    CHAPTER 45

Elena“Good morning.” Rafael’s voice floated through my ears, his face inches away from mine. He was propped on his elbow, his face resting on his palm above me.“Good morning.” A smile spread across my face, warm and wide. His smile was… sad.“What’s wrong?” My own smile faltered as I pushed myself up.“It’s nothing.” He sank back into the bed, staring at the ceiling.“You sure?” It was my turn to prop myself on my palm and inspect his face.“Yes, sure. I’ll just have to stay away until after the wedding.” He sighed.“Why?”“Just business as usual.” He caressed my cheek, letting me rest easy.“Well, I just think it’s all weird.” I shrugged, lying back on the bed.“What?”“I mean, back at home, the Don had everything to say and do about our relationship, but now I don’t even see him around. Isn’t it weird? Do you—” My hands shook as the thought crossed my mind. “Do you think he knows about us?”“Come on, that’s not possible.”“I’m just saying, I wouldn’t put anything past that—”“Well

  • SINFULLY HIS    CHAPTER 44

Elena I ran her through my time with Rafael, holding enough to myself but also giving her enough information to make her squeeze the sheets and giggle while giving me little pinches.“So like, how big?” she asked for the umpteenth time, her eyes hyper-focused on me.“Do you really need to know?” I rolled my eyes.“Uh, yeah. I’m the expert. I need to know you’re not making all this up.”“Why would I?” I asked exasperated, my hands raised in the air.“Then prove it.” She smirked, inching closer to me on the bed.I made a rough estimate using my index finger and thumb to form a circle, but the fingers did not meet. I looked away.“Oh, that is a fat dick.” She looked at my fingers, her eyes wide.Heat immediately filled my cheeks, and the butterflies in my belly were in a frenzy.“Lisa!” I yelled, almost as if I wanted to shut her up.“Sorry, but that sounds like it would feel good.” She shrugged as if she didn’t have the dirtiest mind I had ever seen.“I’d be swooning if I wasn’t about

  • SINFULLY HIS    CHAPTER 43

Elena My eyes fluttered open to meet the dim lighting of the room, the light from his screen in sharp contrast and drawing my attention to the man I was lying next to. "How long was I out?" I glanced around, the room looking a bit darker. "Only for about an hour," he kissed my hair. "Oh." My body felt limp and heavy like I had been poured into the bed instead of lying in it. I rested my weight on my hands and pulled myself up, but immediately regretted it. "I don't think that's a good idea." He laughed. "Well, whose fault is it that I'm bedridden?" I glared at him playfully. "Not mine," he shrugged and carefully lifted my head from his chest like I was a baby. "Excuse you?" I sat up by myself to the best of my ability, resting half of my weight on my elbow. "I mean, it was...joint effort." He chuckled and pulled his trousers up to his waist. "Eww, don't say it like that." I laughed lightly, looking away from him. It was nice, it was wonderful—but I couldn't shake off the

  • SINFULLY HIS    CHAPTER 42

Elena"And what's up with you?" I casually asked Rafael as I moved to sit on the bed.The Rafael I knew—even when cautious—was carefree, but now he was so locked in on himself."Nothing really." His eyes looked drowned in exhaustion and something else I couldn't quite place yet."You've been this way the entire trip." I paused, trying to find the right word to say: "Weird.""I just missed you," he now had a forced smirk on his face."All you've ever done is hover over me." I rolled my eyes, averting his gaze."Maybe that's not enough." He closed the distance in a second, plopping himself on the bed."I don't—""Shh," he brought my face to his with his finger on my chin and planted a soft kiss on my lips.He was slow and gentle as he sucked my lower lip and gently pushed his tongue into my mouth.I responded, tangling my hands in his hair as I kissed him back. After a breathless ten seconds, he broke the kiss, his breath shallow.Like a breeze, he moved and dropped all the curtains tha
