Mia's POV

The silence in the warehouse was deafening. All four brothers stared at me holding Mira, their faces cycling through shock, confusion, and something that looked dangerously like hope.

"Whose child is that?" Xavier asked, his voice carefully controlled.

Don't tell them. Whatever you do, don't tell them the truth.

I clutched Miraz tighter against my chest. "That's none of your business."

"Like hell it isn't," Nathan said, stepping closer. "A child was in danger, we helped rescue her. We deserve answers."

You deserve nothing. You lost the right to answers five years ago.

"Thank you for helping," I said stiffly. "But that's where this ends."

Rolex's eyes were fixed on Mira's face with laser intensity. "She looks familiar."

Of course she does. She looks like all of you. Especially you, Rolex.

"Lots of kids look alike," I said quickly, turning away from their scrutiny.

Daisy appeared at my side, reaching for Mira. "Come here, sweetie. Let's get you cleaned up."

Thank God for Daisy

  • STEPBROTHER'S PUNISHES ME EVERYNIGHT   CHAPTER 209

Mia's POVThe call came just as I was finishing my notes on Sean's surgery. My hands were still shaking from the adrenaline of saving his life for the second time in two days."Dr. Williams, Dean Morrison needs to see you in his office. Immediately."This can't be good. Deans don't call emergency meetings for congratulations.I made my way through the sterile hospital corridors, my heels clicking against the polished floors. The administrative wing always felt different from the rest of the hospital—colder, more bureaucratic.Whatever this is about, I can handle it. I saved Sean's life. I did my job.Dean Morrison's office door was already open when I arrived. What I saw inside made my stomach drop. The dean sat behind his massive oak desk, his expression grave. Two nurses I recognized from the ICU sat across from him—Linda Hayes and Patricia Croft. Why are they here? What could they possibly need to discuss with the dean?"Dr. Williams," Dean Morrison said, gesturing to an empty chai

Mia's POVMy hands shook so violently I couldn't get the cab door open. The driver had to lean over and unlock it from the inside."Riverside Elementary, please," I gasped, throwing myself into the backseat. "As fast as you can."Miraz. My baby girl. Please be okay. Please be safe. The cab ride felt like an eternity. Every red light, every slow driver, every second that ticked by was another moment my four-year-old was missing. I pressed my phone to my ear, calling Elena back."Any updates?" I demanded the moment she picked up."The police are here now. They're interviewing the other children, checking the security footage from the school."Security footage. Thank God the safe house is near the school."What about my other kids? Are they safe?""Yes, they're all accounted for. Just Miraz is missing."Just Miraz. My baby. My youngest. The cab screeched to a halt outside the school, and I threw money at the driver before bolting toward the building. Daisy met me at the entrance, her face

Mia's POV"I'm not going anywhere with you," I repeated firmly, crossing my arms. "Your warnings are just another manipulation tactic."They think I'm stupid enough to fall for this again. Create a crisis, play the hero, force me back into their lives.Xavier's jaw tightened. "This isn't a game, Mia. Sean was almost killed because of his connection to us.""And that's supposed to make me feel safer around you?" I laughed bitterly. "You're literally walking targets. Being near you is the opposite of safe."The irony. They want to protect me by dragging me into their dangerous world.Nathan stepped closer, his voice pleading. "We would never let anything happen to you.""Like you never let anything happen to Sean?" I shot back. "Face it—you can't even protect each other, let alone me."I can't trust them with my safety, and I sure as hell can't trust them with my children's."Don't contact me again," I said, turning to leave. "Any of you. We're done here."I need to get out of here befo

Mia's POVMy hands shook as I dialed Daisy's number, still leaning against the door where I'd barricaded myself after throwing them out."Daisy, it's me," I said the moment she picked up. "I need you to take the kids to the house. Now.""The house? You mean the one you just bought across town?" Her voice was sharp with concern. "Mia, what's happened?"The house I was planning to move us into before this nightmare started all over again."They're back," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "All four of them. And they're not going away quietly this time.""Oh, honey." Daisy's sigh was heavy with understanding. "Are you sure about the house? You said you weren't ready to move yet."I wasn't ready. I was hoping to ease the kids into it gradually, make it feel like an adventure instead of running for our lives."I've changed my mind," I said firmly. "Take them there after school. Make it seem fun, like a sleepover at the new house. I'll meet you there tonight.""What about your apartment?

  • STEPBROTHER'S PUNISHES ME EVERYNIGHT   CHAPTER 204

Mia's POVI was setting the breakfast table when the sound of shouting and crashing erupted from my front door. My heart lurched as I recognized the voices—deep, familiar, and absolutely furious.No. Not again. Please tell me they didn't just—I rushed toward the commotion, my bare feet slapping against the hardwood floor. The sight that greeted me made my blood run cold.Xavier had Liam pinned against my doorframe, his face twisted with rage. Sean and Rolex flanked them like predators ready to strike, while Nathan stood back, his jaw clenched tight."What the hell is wrong with you?" I shrieked, rushing to help Liam up as Xavier finally released him. They just attacked my friend in my own home. They've completely lost their minds."Are you okay?" I asked Liam, checking his shirt for tears, his face for bruises.Liam straightened his clothes with practiced calm, though I could see the tension in his shoulders. "I'm fine, Mia. Just a misunderstanding.""Misunderstanding?" Xavier snarle
