Jewel received a phone call from James. It had been a while since they conversed. The last time they had done so,they had talked at length about the new improvements at the bar, the incident with Joan, Mr Daniel's change of attitude towards her and all she could think of. James had smartly avoided any form of conversation that would lead to talking about himself and the work he did for Miguel. Jewel had asked about how he was faring and he had said that all was well and immediately changed the topic.
