Chapter 008

“I was so busy and forgot” he mumbled with closed eyes, I tried so hard trying to calm down but it wasn't working. I've never been this worked up in a very long time.

“Would you take responsibility if she gets hurt again?!”

“I'm sorry sir, I'd get guards now” I swallowed hard and walked away, I'd zoomed out of the hall, Santoro won't take it easy.

*Meliora’s POV*

Lucy kept pacing around the room while I bit my lower lips nervously, I didn't mean to make everyone so worked up.

“All done,” the nurse said with a smile after putting some ointments on my wrist.

Lucy turned and waltzed to me “are you okay?” I nodded and she sighed sitting close to me.

“That garden is full of poisonous plants to make medicines and herbs and at times poisons for killing people, that makbu ties things so tight it could cut, thank God your wrist didn't fall off” my eyes and mind widened as she explained.

“No, why are they looking so fine and plump?” The flowers were beautiful and tall and colourful and dark…I guess it's the dark colour that pulled me in, don't know.

“Stay away from the garden next time, you're strong though, it could've finished your wrists” I exhaled loudly, staring at my bandaged wrists…now I get why he yelled that loudly, did he have to solve everything with his voice?

“Do you know how to mind link?” Lucy suddenly asked.

“What's mind link, is that some kind of mind control?”

“No, you can talk to someone through your thoughts like this ... .it seems hard with you, maybe because I've never connected before” she muttered, closing her eyes.

“Woah!” I yelled in excitement, it's just like Darian does.

“Can you teach me?” She nodded and faced me.

“If you learn it it won't be hard, concentrate and try to think about the person you want to link with, then say something to the person” I nodded and cleared my throat, I closed my eyes tightly thinking about Darian, he was first to come to my mind, I don't know if it's natural but…

*Hey, Lycan king Darian, do you always have to yell?* I opened my eyes and shook my head at Lucy.

“Doesn't seem to be working”

“It's okay, it's first trial…try again”

“King Darian! Stop yelling at me” I opened my eyes frustrated again and shook my head at Lucy.

“Seems mind-linking is not for you” she muttered and sat on the edge of the bed.

“How's your wrist, you're distracting me by the way” my eyes widened as darian's voice rang in my head.

I didn't reply, I just shut my eyes and lay on the bed, immediately burying myself in the duvet.

I kept sipping my tea as I flipped through the pages of ancient…there's been a page about bond break, but it had cautions and conditions of one of the mates getting hurt, i’m currently flipping and finding other pages to aid the pain of the bond break, I still can't let her get hurt not even while breaking the bond.

“Gael” I called out and Gael walked into my study with a bow, I needed the ingredients.

“Yes, King Darian”

“Take, get me these materials, I need them before sunset” I ordered handing him a paper full of lists.

“King Darian, are you really breaking the bond? I mean we could wait till she's strong" I eyes flashed at him in anger and he bowed immediately leaving with the list.

I exhaled loudly and closed ancient, I needed to meet all these requirements to ensure a trouble free bond break…I need to set Meliora free, I can't tie her down with pain after saving her from one, the world doesn't have to be so cruel.

I'd sent people to call Liora and she'd be down here any time soon. My heart kept beating fast, hitting against my chest crazily no matter how much I tried to be calm.

I'd shut Thane off because his roaring and growling was becoming too much. I've waited all my life to meet her and she's probably waited all her life to be saved from such a cruel place.

Tying her down would only do her harm, she's not part of the Lycan, I can't make her go through the pain of the Lycan she's just a weak fellow that needs protection.

“Kind Darian” I swallowed as her soft voice emerged and echoed in the room, I counted three mississips before turning.

She stood close to the door frame with her aspiring figure, one that easily picks you up and throws you where you don't know…I got lost staring at her yet again, someone I was about to reject.

There's no way I've fallen in love with her in a few weeks, it's probably the bond pushing and pulling emotions.

“Hmm, come sit here…it's time to set your free” I said the last words silently hoping I could swallow them back without a trace.

She walked past me and sat down “do I have a say in this?” I looked up to the being that had just spoken up, face Stern and serious like I've never seen before.

“No. You don't” she scoffed immediately I answered her facing the ground.

“I never have a say, no matter where it is, be it Salvatore or some Lycan manor” I felt my chest tightened as the cracked sound of her voice echoed through the old hut.

“that’s not…” I held myself from explaining, I really wanted her to know I didn't mean it that way, but it was better off if she hated me.

There won't be any need for settlement since I'd be breaking the bond anyway.

“Yes…just get ready for the bond break” she scoffed and pulled out the next chair sitting close to me.

Gael came in with the ingredients I needed for the bond break, a part of me really wanted to stop but that's probably Thane and the bond working because I really want to break this thing, if I never get another mate then, I guess I'd have to die with the moonsbane.

“Is there any other thing you'd need?” I shook my head at Gael's question and he bowed, walking away.

Meliora's heart pounded crazily just like me and I could hear her heartbeat, all of it, every single sound it made all came crashing down in my ears.

“It's gonna be fine”

“I don't need you to tell me that!” She rolled her eyes at me and I swallowed hard fixing up the materials like it was written in ancient, the alternative bond break has almost same word with the other one, any fucking mistake I make could hurt one of us and I really pray I'm the other that gets hurt.

I picked up a small rusty knife and pierced it into my palm, blood gushed out pouring into the small container filled with old Lycan ingredients.

Meliora winced as blood oozed out from hers, heavier than mine….I quickly proceeded with the bond break, I closed my palm with hers and dipped into the mixture of old lycan ingredients the bond break strikes into place immediately sending unbearable pain to my chest…I felt my chest tighten as blood oozed out of my mouth.

The room blurred as dark smoke filled everywhere “ahhh!” Meliora's voice came with great agony, the pain didn’t stop, it pierced through my heart like two edged swords.
