Chapter 004 : 

“Ahh!” A gasp escaped my lip as I'd woken up to the frail sound of voices, did Netra heal me again? The pain has reduced greatly and I opened my eyes without pain.

I sat up looking around the environment. Where's this? I scanned the room, it was warm, thick velvet curtains framed a wide window, swaying gently with the breeze and carrying the faint scent of pine from outside.

Every corner of the room whispered royalty, from the silver crest carved above the door to the woven rug under my feet. It felt safe… too safe for a place I didn’t know.

My eyes widened as the memories of last night flooded in, I'd been saved by king Darian…I have to leave before he gets me, I can't be on his bad side, I'd stare at his face till he spoke up, damn!.

I quickly pulled the duvet away from my body and that's when I noticed two young girls, they were staring at me with shock in their eyes.

“Princess, I'm sorry you can't move yet” one of them quickly walked to my front in a bow, princess? I quickly opened the curtains rechecking my environment, am I dreaming? Damn girl you've got to wake up.

“Ow” I winced inwardly as I'd pinched myself, it's real, they disinfected my wounds and bandaged them.

“You should lie down, princess” 

“I think you're making a mistake, I'm not your princess and I need to leave quickly, I can't be here” I muttered with pleading eyes hoping she'd bow away from me.

I kept pacing around the small space between me and the wall and then her bowing figure.

“You should raise your head too”, I muttered, tapping her shoulder. Is this some kind of good prison? Never heard of it but… they won't even let me leave.

The door creaked open and I turned swiftly facing the door, my body froze as Darian walked in.

“Leave us” he said to the two girls and they picked up their bowl and towel walking out.

“You can't move yet” he muttered, more like a command, I quickly lay down before I realized I did.

“Check her” a short woman with white garment and diamond fixed to her collar walked to me, what a weird way of dressing!.

“Stop it, she might hear you” I jolted, I just heard a voice in my head like Netra but that isn't Netra's voice, cold, calm…Darian? Did he hear my thoughts? 

*Mm, MATE* Netra giggled happily inside, I rolled eyes at what she said, mated to who? A middle aged woman? Damn you Netra!.

The woman turned to Darian “Her pulse is weak but she can hold on, she shouldn't eat any solids because she'd bled too much, thank goddess for her strong nature” he walked to us pulling a chair to sit close.

“Thank you matyr” 

“Yes, king Darian” she bowed, walking away after dropping some greenish liquids on the table.

“How are you feeling?” he asked and I turned, I quietly avoided his gaze looking around the room till I remembered he just asked a question. Shit!

“Good” I murmured and nodded.

“They'd be your assistant and tell them if you ever need anything” he commanded standing up.

“Why'd you save me?” I questioned before I knew it and he turned.

“I mean… thank you for saving…me but I want to leave, I don't know why I'm here” I added biting my lower lip nervously.

I felt his left eye twitch “you don't feel it?” He asked, walking closer.

“huh?”

“I saved you because you're my mate” he croaked “but not to worry, I'd look for a way to break it and you'd be free” why's he breaking it, in as much as I've only heard of the word once but don't know what it means, it feels good with him.

*Please don't, zayne* Netra muttered, who's zayne? I asked inwardly.

“And what's a mate bond, sorry” I murmured, flattening my lips.

“It's fate stupidly tying two people”

“So we're…tied?” I question, he nodded and my heart skipped as he ruffled his hair.

“I'm breaking it so don't worry” my eyes widened “why?!” I questioned more like a queries before I knew it.

“You don't have to know that” his voice echoed and he drifted to the door “rest up” he added and strode out,I blinked gulping down nothing.

I exhaled and stood up walking to the window, people walked around gracefully in the compound, there's a lot of them, we aren't this much in Salvatore pack.

Young people walked in pairs, a smile escaped my lip as two girls walked together laughing and playing, they hung arms while playing, I'd never experienced that…the thought made the smile disappear, I'd have a lot of friends if I weren't weak.

The door creaked open and I turned immediately leaving the window…a middle aged woman walked in, her long red dress sweeping the floor as she walked towards me with a smile, a crown rested on her hair gracefully, from her dress to her elegance you'd know she's royalty.

“Hello, sweety” she beamed a smile, walking closer to me, I wasn't sure how to react if She's the queen.

“I'm sorry for not knocking, I was told you'd be resting so…I just wanted to see you” she cupped my palm into hers and I forced a smile out.

“Good…” damn, I don't even know what the time is, jeez.

“It's okay dear, come sit” she rubbed the back of my palm, I felt warm instantly like she'd opened something in my heart…mom's voice has never been this tender and low with me.

“What's your name dear?”

“Meliora” …”Meliora Ashwyld” her tender eyes are almost inside mine, why are they so kind around here, or have I been living in the wrong place?.

“I'm queen Elsie, your mate's mother” I forced a smile.

“how are you feeling, Mel? The doctor said your injuries were very deep” she murmured with soft eyes and I nodded.

“What'd you like to eat? Lily and Ashley will be here soon, they've been assigned to assist you, make sure to tell them what you like okay?”

I swallowed hard nodding, I'm trying hard not to let these foolish tears slip off my eyes, I can't believe this little kindness is making me emotional.
