Mag-log inAya’s POV
“Aya!”
I woke up hearing this yet another familiar shriek. But even though this shriek sounds so sharp, it still feels like home..
“I said stop shouting! You’ll wake her up, you dummy.” Another familiar voice emerged.
My head still feels really groggy but I forced myself to open my eyes. And there they were..
The heir and heiress of the South. Johanis Martin, and his little sister, Liliana Martin.
“J-joha..” The moment I whispered his nickname, he froze and looked away. I just sighed and looked at his little sister. “L-lily”
“You shall not speak yet, Aya!” She pouted. “I swear to the Moon Goddess you and this stupid brother of mine are just the same! No rest and more headaches for us! Do you know that we keep on looking for you guys all this ti—”
“Lily..” Johanis said in this warning tone of his. But Lily just rolled her eyes and ignored him. “Anyway! Are you fine now?”
“N-no.. what happened? How about those three who were there?”
“What do you mean three?” Lily pondered for a moment and then.. “Oh! You meant those who abducted you? Why they are already dead, of course. Beaten like a pulp before they heaved their last breath!”
She said it like it was nothing.. Should I be alarmed? She used to be this sweet munchkin of ours when we were young.
Does everything truly change?
“W-what?”
“Well, do you expect my brother would just let them live? After what they did to y—”
“Shut up, Lily. It isn't for her but for your safety and the whole pack.”
“Lalala! So denial, geez!” She bumped herself into Joha's arm but the man didn’t even budge. He looked at me for a moment and we locked our gaze for three seconds before he looked away.. only because Lily’s teasing stare is too loud.
He was about to leave but I spoke. “C-can we talk?”
“No.”
“I am about to leave again. I’m only here to visit..” I tried to plead but.. He stopped in his tracks and looked at me sideways. With a cold expression in his eyes.. “Leaving again, huh? Seems to be your talent. Then, all the more reason that we shouldn't talk anymore.”
And with that he left..
The moment the door closes, Lily makes a face towards his direction before she sits beside me. “Don't mind that one. He is just too bitter to forgive you guys, yet.”
“Huh?”
“Hmm?” Lily tilted her head. “Is there a problem, Aya?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I simply meant it as it is. No need to be guilty around me.”
“No. I mean, y-yes, I still feel guilty even around you but.. ‘guys’? You meant me and my father, right?” I hesitatingly asked because I’m really confused.
And then she dropped this bomb. “No. I meant the three of you. You, Sari and B-brinn.” She looked away when she spoke of the last name. Even had this yearning gaze written all over her face.
I know it too well. Because that is my very face when I look at myself in the mirror thinking of my life here. Thinking of what could’ve happened if me and my father hadn't left.
Thinking of him all the time…
Only.. Lily also had this other emotion in her face that I cannot pinpoint what exactly.. Anger? Worry? Hesitance? Vengeance?
I merely sighed and let her be. Because I also don't wanna be asked way back at Cladbridge about my face when I think of him either..
But that was all in the past and I’m here now. That is what's important, right?
But wait…
“Sari and Brinn left too? When!?” I sat up in shock and because of that, my vision’s getting all blurry again.
“Hey.. easy peasyy. You haven't fully recovered yet.” Lily worryingly said as she guided me back to lie down.
“When?” I looked her straight in the eyes. I feel like if I didn't, she wouldn't tell me.
Lily sighed and combed her hair with her fingers. A trait she and her brother had. She bit her lower lip before speaking, “That very same night you were also gone..”
I don't know why but it feels like I was dumped with cold ice water. “W-what?”
She exhaled a huge breath again. “We really thought you guys were dead and we mourned for a year or two until someone said they saw you fleeing that night. That was when we started this search way back then until now..”
“So that was why Johanis looks really mad.” I forced myself to stop these stupid tears from falling.
“Yeah. He always asks me that if you guys were alive, why wouldn't you come back? Or even write a simple letter? Sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I’d be the bigger person and make him understand..” She had this melancholic expression on her face that made my heart ache so damn much.
“I’m sorry.. I tried everything, but father said it's too dangerous for me to even send a letter..”
She nodded. “I understand now.. I really do.. Uhm…” She gulped and hesitated but I just smiled at her and said, “So.. were you shocked that I don't have a wolf?”
“Yes.” She honestly said, biting her lip again. “And Johanis should understand how dangerous it is for you too! Seriously, I'll skin him alive the next time I see him!”
I merely chuckled and got comfy in bed. “Nah. No need to. As I said, I’m leaving the moment the pack doctor or nurse gives a go signal.”
She squirms and fiddles with her hands. That could only mean one thing..
“Liliana.. What on earth did you do now?” I suspiciously looked at her as she cheekingly giggled. “Uhh. I forgot to say the part where you were unconscious for five days already..”
“What?”
“And uhmm.. healer Mira already said you can actually go once you open your eyes and deem that you can stand up.”
I sighed. “Okay, then I’m going now.”
“Only that you can't!” She stopped me before I could even attempt to sit.
I glared at her. “What else are you hiding?”
Liliana Martin has always been so cheeky. I couldn't say that she’s spoiled because Alpha Hans and Luna Jhoanna, her parents and the leaders of Midnight Pack, always scold and punish her as they deem fit. But still Lily will always be Lily, and I inwardly smile that even after so many years, some things never changed..
Nevertheless.. this is different and I have a really bad feeling about this.
“So, uhm.. it is to be expected that your father looked for you and the first thing he does is mind link mom and dad.. It was chaos but anyway to cut things short, I kinda lied to my parents that Joha and I picked you up on our way towards finding you guys..”
“What the—”
“They were also on their way on a mission at that time. So I just said to mom that I already enrolled you here at Woodhill University..”
“LILY!”
She flinched but still continued. “Your father was rather furious and he is expected to arrive by next week I think..”
“Oh my Goddess, Liliana!”
She was about to say something again but I could feel these ominous pheromones marching to where we were. Two of them.
She gulped. “Shit. They have arrived and found out already!?”
“What do you me—”
And I didn't get to finish my sentence as one furious Alpha and Luna barge inside the infirmary tent.
“LILIANA MARTIN! HOW DARE YOU LIE TO ME!?”
She quickly bumped her cheeks to mine and fled. “See you later, Aya!”
But she hadn't even taken five steps when her father caught her. “You really think you can outrun us, little wolf?”
Aya's POVThe growl did not stop. If anything, it became worse. It became more dangerous. The kind of sound that made instinct scream run even if there was nowhere to run to.Sora stood between me and everyone else now, massive body rigid while his pheromones visibly curled violently around his paws. His golden eyes were locked onto the black veins spreading beneath my skin.Or maybe—Locked onto the corruption itself. Because every time the darkness beneath my skin moved, his lips peeled farther back from his teeth.Murderous.That was the only word for it.The entire chamber had gone deathly still around him. Fairy guards stood frozen near the glowing walls, clearly debating whether they should interfere or pray the wolf ignored them. Smart choice honestly.. Because Sora looked one second away from tearing apart anything that moved.“A wolf cannot interfere with ancient fairy extraction magic,” Mom warned carefully, though I could hear tension beneath her calm tone. “If he loses con
Aya's POVPain hit my chest so hard I thought it would cave in. Then Eros flashed through my mind again so I had to pretend and force myself to stay awake. But my body betrayed me even before my mind could say no. My fingers tightened around my mother instantly. “M-mom…”She immediately pulled back enough to look at me. Concern flooded her expression instantly. “What is it?”I couldn’t breathe properly. The words came out fractured. I have to at least say his name..“Eros.”She stilled.“A friend swapped his life for me,” I whispered. “He’s stuck in the forest…”Shock crossed her face instantly. Real shock.“What did you say?”“E-eros,” I repeated desperately. “Mom save him please..”Her expression changed. It was not only fear. But more than that.. it was as if she recognized him even though it was only a name..My stomach dropped instantly.. So, she knows him. The realization hit like lightning.Mom gulped visibly before trying to steady herself.“He’ll be fine,” she said carefully.
Aya's POVWarmth. That was the first thing I felt. Not the violent heat of corruption burning through my veins. Not the suffocating pull of the forest trying to slowly drag me back underground.Just… warmth.Heavy. Protective. Wrapped so tightly around me that for a few blissfully disoriented seconds, I forgot everything. Then my body shifted slightly. Pain immediately followed.A sharp breath escaped me as consciousness crashed fully back in. My stomach twisted violently while exhaustion dragged at every inch of me. Something beneath me moved at the same time.It was of course.. my mate. His wolf form so broad and strong that I feel comfort and just want to stay here forever.I blinked slowly.nDark trees blurred past my vision. Wind brushed against my face in cold uneven bursts while shadows moved rapidly beneath us.Johanis.. I was on his back.Blue and gold energy flickered faintly around us both, weaving through the air like threads of light. In my sleepy state, I thought of it as
Aya's POV“No.”The word tore out of me instantly. Raw. Broken. Violent enough that my throat burned around it.But it wasn't me who spoke that.. it was the forest..The clearing had become absolute chaos. Wind screamed through the shattered trees while corruption slammed against it from every direction like something alive and furious. Shadows twisted across the forest floor, writhing between roots and broken branches. The entire forest was shaking now.Not angry anymore.Panicking.Because I was slipping away from it.. And apparently, it would rather destroy everything than let me go.“NOW!” Eros shouted.Silver wind exploded outward from him again, forming a violent barrier between us and the corruption surging forward. Blood hit the ground beneath him immediately after.Too much blood.Way too much fucking blood.Johanis moved before I could even process it. One second he was beside me.The next—A massive white-silver wolf tore through the clearing with enough force to crack the
Johanis' POVThe entire north felt wrong. Not quiet. Not calm..Wrong.The moment we crossed the border back into Bloodbury territory, the bond in my chest twisted so violently I nearly lost control of the damn motorcycle.Pain.Not mine.. not Sora's..Aya’s pain.Raw. Sharp. Burning through the mate bond in uneven waves that made my wolf slam against my ribs like a mad beast.Sora was losing his fucking mind.‘Mine.”The growl rattled through my skull hard enough to blur my vision for half a second.“I KNOW,” I snarled back.Ahead of me, Alaric moved through the forest at terrifying speed, the shadows around him bending unnaturally as he tore through the trees. Even from here, I could feel his rage. Not the loud kind, but the dangerous kind.. it was the kind that promised death. We had been moving nonstop since leaving the Frost Court of the North. No breaks. No slowing down. The queen’s words still echoed inside my head like a curse.“They wanted my power. My blood… I realized they
Aya's POV“What the fuck do you mean by that?” I exhaled, trying to make sense of it.Same?Same as me?How is that even possible??!I had just learned I was a fairy. I even thought I’m the last.. or well, maybe there’s a few of us alive but meeting someone right at this very moment? Not to mention.. He had a fucking wolf too!So how is it possible that he had both wolf and half fairy blood??!“We have no time for stories and arguments, Aya.. They are on their way here.”“Who?”“You know who, Aya.” Eros had this annoying smile on his face. “Alaric..” He let my father’s name hang in the air before continuing, “..and your jealous and possessive mate of course.”Then a cheeky smile before—The bond snapped against my chest so hard I nearly staggered. My breath hitched.Johanis.Closer.Not close enough yet—but moving. Fast. The faint pulse I’d been clinging to for days suddenly felt stronger, warmer, alive in a way that made something deep inside me ache. The forest felt it too. As a res
Aya’s POVDay one.And I already want to riot..Because apparently, being last year’s representative of the interschool tournament does not grant Woodhill University any glorious advantage.No..It grants them a handicap.A freaking handicap!!They are required to defeat three teams.Three!!!While
Aya's POV “Guess who?”My heart nearly launched out of my chest. I twisted instinctively, fingers already reaching for the wrist covering my eyes, I swore I went as far as getting ready to attack whoever this maybe…And then—“Omg! Uncle Taviii!” The voice shifted from playful whisper to full-volum
Johanis POVRyan always does when it matters. He pushes hard left, signaling Kael forward. They move fast—faster than before. No sloppy collisions this time. No accidental body checks. They’re coordinated now. Leon hangs back, reading lanes.I secretly smirked as it was really a smart move. Finn sh
Aya’s POV“So what's up with the carriage?” I asked. Breaking down the ice because it has been twenty minutes since someone last talked. Our seating arrangement is actually quite funny. I am sitting beside Johanis, so that means Lily sat beside her ‘number one enemy of the year’ as what she whisper
