There was applause after the interview ended. I had put the right impression on people and everyone was sure it would be a hit when shown to the public. George came to me privately afterwards.

“I was worried for no reason…” he muttered. “You are good at improvisation. I should have known you were able to handle it.”

“I was being honest,” I told him casually. “It wasn't any form of improvisation. That was me being raw and truthful.”

George stared at me for a moment. I stared back at me and soon, we broke eye contact.

“Do you have plans for this evening?” George asked me.

This made me smile, “I am married to your boss, George. You don't plan on asking me out, do you?”

“I plan on doing that!” George replied naturally. “Make some time for me this evening. Let's have a drink together and talk.”

“You want to talk?” I asked.

“You know I want to!” He replied and left instantly. Since the interview was now over, I was free for the day. I planned to stay alone till in the evening when Geo

    It kept ringing in my head. Everyone's eyes had fallen on me and I just couldn't believe what was happening right now. I remained standing but it seemed as if my soul had left my body. “The beneficiary of my assets is Annie Richmond.” Was that a mistake? Perhaps the lawyer would reread and find out a mistake had been made. However, it didn't seem like it. People began to murmur and when I looked at Julian's face, I could see a mix of shock and nervousness. He had been sure he would get Mr. Yamamoto's assets upon his death. What if Julian hated me now? “Annie, are you okay?” Julian asked me as he touched me carefully. “I… I am…” I muttered. “I don't know what just happened.     I laid down on the bed shirtless. I stared upwards as I took deep breaths. It had been a long day for me and there was no better way to relax than this. My phone rang and I picked it up. It was George. “Boss, I have bad news,” he told me uneasily. I sat up immediately. “Go ahead!” I braced myself. “It is about Mr. Yamamoto. I received news from one of his assistants a while ago. He collapsed and he has been hospitalized…” George told me carefully. I was more than nervous now. “Is it bad?” I wanted to know. Even without seeing George face-to-face, I could tell he was hesitating right now. “It is, boss,” George replied. That was all I had to hear. I cut the call right away and tried to calm myself. Mr. Yamamoto has been with me since the beginning of my company. He was always more than a co-worker, he was a father figure to me. I couldn't watch this happen. I had to save him somehow, no matter what would happen. My phone beeped and when I checked, it was a text message from George.

He picked up my script right after and confirmed that it had been tampered with. “I want you to tell me the truth, Annie. Did you tamper with this script?” Julian asked.     Maggie managed to convince us. It sounded like she meant the best for us but somehow, I had doubts. If my intuition was half as great as I thought, Maggie truly wanted to have Julian back as a lover. If that was what she wanted, she would have no reason to help others see how great a couple we are. The script was right there and I checked through it right away. I checked the wall clock again, I had only twenty minutes for this. The parts which Annie would be reading tonight weren't many. I wondered why she wanted to stay up for that. There was only one explanation, she was excited and wanted to feel like she was working hard for it. I tore off the two pages and scanned it instantly. From there, I edited her own lines so that she would read the wrong thing. The thought of how embarrassed she would be tomorrow gladdened my heart.
