Chapter 29

OAKLEY

“That was a lot sooner than we thought.” I mumbled. They heard me know, all of them nodding. Being a werewolf and having a metabolism like we do it takes a whole lot of alcohol to get drunk but it didn’t take long to get sober and we thankfully didn’t have hangovers. Since there was enough time before dinner we all decided to head to the pack house and meet with him. Mark called his parents to prepare the office for the meeting and also to have a couple of omegas bring all my stuff up from the car. they would bring it up to the alpha suite and leave it for me to unpack so I could figure out where I wanted everything to go.

We all climbed into the suv and headed to the pack house. Thankfully there was an extra row of seats for my stuff which left room for my grandparents to ride with us. They decided to stay at the pack house for dinner and then walk home since it wasn’t far. once we arrived mark parked the car in front of the pack house so my things could easily be unloaded and left the key for one of the omegas to put the car back into the garage when they were done.

We headed inside and made our way to marks office, greeting the few pack members we saw on the way in. When we passed one of the seating areas I saw serenity and her minions sitting there around a laptop looking at something. Serenity looked up at us as we passed my and gave me a death glare. I returned her glare with a smile and kept on going. As we entered the office I saw marks parents and my dad sitting there and chatting. They stood up as we walked in, my dad greeting me with a hug. His hair was wet, I could tell he had recently showered.

“Let’s all sit comfortably around the fireplace while we talk.” Mark said. He sat in one of the recliners and pulled me into his lap. Alpha Simon had done the same with his mate in the opposite recliner. My dad and grandparents sat on the couch.

“Dad what happened?” I said getting straight to the point. I didn’t want to drag it out. He chuckled a little at my assertiveness and then got serious.

“Well. After the festival, when we got back, I first confronted beta Derek. Alpha Matt and his son alpha Tyson were there as well. At first Derek tried to deny it But when I told him there was picture proof and the alphas could use the alpha command on Amber he confessed. Alpha Matt was mad beyond all belief. You know how he feels about the mate bond. But his son Tyson acted like it didn’t really matter. Which caused an argument between the two of them because now alpha Matt does not believe Tyson is ready to take over the pack.“ he paused so he could drink some water. We all just patiently waited.

“After Tyson left the room Matt gave Derek a lecture but Derek was already looking like he was regretting it. I hadn’t even noticed how he had lost weight and was looking like he hadn’t slept in weeks. I wanted to tear his head off but I left before I could do that. I went back to the house where Bailey and Amber were sitting at the table in the kitchen. They had changed from the festival. I asked Amber about what she had done and told her before she could deny it that I had seen the messages she sent you. She told me that she had no intention of denying it and was glad I finally knew so she didn’t have to hide it anymore.” His eyes were changing colors, I could tell he was fighting his wolf. I reached over and put my hand on his arm. He smiled sadly at me and patted my hand. Then he continued on.

“When I asked Bailey if she knew about it she said yes. Then I asked her why she didn’t stop or or why she didn’t tell me and she acted like it was no big deal. She said that her daughter deserved the best, better than some little motherless wolf that wasn’t worth anything. I got so angry then because I didn’t even need the confirmation of the abuse but I asked anyway. They did not deny it one bit. Said that Oakley was born to be their slave and that she deserved everything they ever did to her. I was so angry I was seeing red. I could barely control Zane, he wanted to come out and tear their throats out but I knew that wasn’t going a good idea. it was then that Bailey told me something that I had always suspected but had hoped to never be true.” I could see that he was struggling with this next part. He took a deep breath and then finally said he.

“She told me that Amber is not my daughter.” Everyone in the room gasped.

“I always knew that there was something wrong there. She never felt like family.” Grams said.

“Sadly I knew something was off as well but I didn’t want to believe it. Zane tried to tell me. He never had any attachment that a wolf has with their pups. He always said she wasn’t his and was evil.” My dad said, looking into the fire place like he was a million miles away. we knew there was more so we waited until he was ready to continue.

“I rejected Bailey right then and kicked her and Amber out of the house. I didn’t not feel any pain from the rejection as a normal wolf would, chosen or not it’s supposed to hurt still. The mate mark disappeared so fast it was like it was never there. I could hear them outside, begging to be let in. I couldn’t stand to listen to it and so I grabbed a couple bottles of alcohol and locked myself in the office. I just kept drinking until I passed out. And when I woke up I just kept drinking more. And I thought of Oakley and all the wrong she has been through and how I didn’t even see it. I feel like a terrible father and I’m so sorry.” he said, looking at me. I got up from marks lap and went to hug him. He pulled me into his arms with no issues, I could feel all his sorrow and regrets.

“It’s not your fault dad. You didn’t know and i didn’t say anything. I just wanted you to be happy.” I told him. Once he was calmed down some I returned to mark so dad could continue talking.

“Well. I kept drinking and thinking of Oakley and that I needed to get to you and apologize and make up for it all. I got on a bus but not before I rejected the river moon pack. Alpha Matt has been blowing up my phone, I suspect you will hear from him at some point to find out if I am here or not. None of this is his fault, he had no idea either and I’m fine with him knowing where I am. I will call him a little later. But anyway. i got on the bus and then walked the rest of the way from the bus station. Somewhere along the way I lost the alcohol bottles as I finished drinking them.” He said. I could see how sad he was.

“If you would like to join our pack you are more than welcome too. I could use another warrior to change up the training and our head warrior is getting up there in age. I know that he wants to retire and spend more time with his mate.” Mark said.

“You can stay with us as well. We have the room that Oakley was in, it has its own bathroom.” Grams said, reaching her hand out to my dad’s. grandpa nodded at that. I was so grateful for everyone being so open to him joining us without even a question about it. I would be so happy to have my dad here as well.

“I would really like that.” My dad said with a small smile. I could see the relief in his eyes. I knew he was worried about leaving his previous pack and having rogue status. They went through the motions of adding him to the pack as alpha Simon sent a mind link to everyone, letting them know.

“I do need to go and get my things. I know that alpha Matt will be okay with it and hopefully Bailey hasn’t destroyed anything.” My dad said.

“I will send a few warriors with you and you can take our private plane. Dad can get in touch with alpha Matt to work out the details.” Mark told him.

I was very sad about what my dad had gone through but I was glad that he was out of there and had joined our pack. they all made arrangements for him to return with my grandparents after dinner and would get his things the next day. My grandpa had clothes he could borrow. We were all getting ready to go to dinner when there was a knock at the door.
