When the meeting was over with Oakleys dad and we were all getting ready to head to the dining hall for dinner there was a knock on my office door.
“Come in.” I said. The door opened to show my beta and a couple of my warriors.
“Alpha. We have a report on the rogue camp. Do you have a moment to meet?” Beta Jack asked me. I looked over at Oakley who nodded. She started to usher her grandparents, my parents and her dad out of the room so they could head to dinner.
“ hope you plan on telling me more about
it later.” Came Oakleys voice in my mind.“Of course my angel. Anything involving the pack is your business as well.” I replied.
“Wait, Eric and dad, can you guys stay for this please?” I asked Oakleys dad and mine. they both stopped, exchanged looks and nodded. Oakleys dad was a head warrior in his previous pack and he would be replacing my current head warrior so he could retire like he wanted. I felt it was best to fill him in on the situation as well as my dad. They sat down in the chairs if front of my desk and when the door was closed behind everyone else I sat down as well.
“Okay, so before I get your report I would like to fill Eric in on what has been found.” I told beta jack. He nodded.
“Eric, across the border, just there (I pointed to the spot marked on the territory map on the wall) is a rogue camp. we have no idea why they are there or what they want.” I told him. He studied the map for a moment before turning back to me and nodding in understanding. I told him about the rogues I ran into on my way back from the alpha council and what they had said there as well. Then I turned to beta jack.
“What do you have to report.” I asked. he looked at the two warriors with him and then back at me.
“It seems as though there was about 20 rogues there and then their rogue leader. They were all messing around when someone else arrived at the camp. The rogue leader dismissed everyone else so they could chat. It was a vampire.” He said. Everyone looked shocked. It was rare to see vampires in this part of the world. They usually lived over in Italy except for a select few.
“could you hear what they were meeting about?” I asked them. They all exchanged glances.
“Not specifically. They mentioned something about a special one and using their powers but that’s about all we got. I think they are planning an attack but don’t have enough recruits yet. They have a few men out searching for more they said. Apparently they have been promised a good pack life after.” One of the warriors said. We all sat there and contemplated this for a few moments.
“Who could they be looking for?” I murmured, more to myself than anyone.
“I know.” Eric said with a grim look on his face. Everyone looked at him.
“They are looking for Oakley.” He sighed, clenching his hands around the end of the chair. I was instantly enraged by this. No one was taking my mate from me!
“Why do they want her?” Alpha Simon asked.
“Because she is exactly like her mother. She has powers. I am guessing you have seen her wolf. She is special. She won’t be able to access her powers until she is marked though. That’s how it worked with her mother. I remember her telling me a while back that rogues attacked this pack looking for her as well. It’s why we chose my birth pack. So we could live a peaceful life without worry.” He said Sadly.
“I remember those attacks. It was before I was alpha. I remember my dad telling me that we needed to protect her with our life.” Alpha Simon said. Eric nodded. There was silence among us while we all thought about this.
“Well what are we supposed to do. How can I not mark her? She is my Luna.” i inquired.
“Well we won’t be expecting you to not mark her. She will just need training as soon as possible for when she can access her powers.” Eric said.
“I remember mom telling her that one of their friends is a witch and she trained her mother. Can we get her here?” I asked dad. He nodded thoughtfully.
“You need to talk to your mate alpha mark. the only way we can beat a vampire, or even an army of vampires, is with her powers.” Eric said, looking me in the eye. I’m sure that wasn’t easy for him. He was basically saying that I needed to mark my mate and that is his daughter.
“I have a vampire friend I can call. He can come and help train everyone on how to handle vampires.” Alpha Simon suggested.
“Okay, good. That’s a good idea. I don’t want anyone to worry about this immediately. We need to assess the situation. maybe we can meet with the rogue leader when the vampire isn’t there and see about making some kind of deal. Maybe make it better than whatever the vampire is offering him if it’s possible.” I said. I knew that was probably not possible But it was worth a try.
“Alright. Well we all know what needs to be done. I will speak with Oakley and then dad can you have mom contact her friend and have them meet sometime? all of Oakleys things just came today so she will probably want to spend time after dinner putting everything away. I can use that time to talk to her.” I said. Everyone nodded. After that we all headed to the dining hall to have dinner. We had taken a while so dinner had already started. I looked to where my mate was sitting and saw she had gotten me a plate of food and a drink as well. She was so amazing. I walked over to where she was sitting, kissed her forehead and sat down next to her.
“Is everything okay.” She asked me.
“Yes my angel. There is something we have to discuss in a bit though. I figure after lunch you will want to go put your things away and we can chat then.” I told her. She just nodded, a concerned look on her face. We ate dinner, the occasional chatter with the other pack members. When we finished we said good night to our parents and her grandparents and then headed up to our room so she could unpack her things and we could talk. Once we reached the room and I had closed the door and she turned to face me.
“Alright, what’s going on?” she asked
MARKI couldn’t believe it when Rebecca told us everything that had been happening. I was happy for her that she had found her mate. I loved when my pack members were happy and I had a feeling her mate would make a good addition to the pack. I was going to have to take care of this situation with Serenity before it got out of hand. She had gone to far. I just wasn't sure yet how I was going to handle it. I would be having a meeting later with the beta and gamma couple and my own mate and parents and we would have to figure something out together because I had never had a situation like this before. I had to much going on with the vampires and rogues to deal with her petty jealousy. We all got up and headed over to the pack hospital. When i checked to see about visiting I was told he was all patched up and resting. A few days and he would be fully recovered. Maybe with his mate he would recover faster. I could only hope that he would accept his second chance mate and not reject her out
OAKLEYWe walked into Marks office and I was assaulted with the scent of my mate and I felt myself melting onto one of his couches in front of the fireplace. I didn’t realize how tired I was.“Are you okay?” He asked me. I wasn’t even sure why I was so tired.“Yea. I am just tired for some reason.” I said. He chuckled.“I think because you have been doing a lot these past few days compared to what you were doing before and it might all be catching up to you. Tomorrow is a Saturday though so we get a day off.” He sat down next to me and pulled me into his lap. I snuggled into him and his warmth. I knew I couldn’t stay there or I would fall asleep.“We can’t just take a break. Not with a vampire camp on our borders and rogues trying to get in here.” I said, sitting up. Before he could say anything there was a knock at his door.“Come in.” He said in his alpha voice. The door slowly creaked open to reveal Rebecca standing there.“Come in and close the door. Have a seat.” He told her, ges
OAKLEYWe reached the pack house and had just enough time to shower before lunch. We made our way to the alpha floor. I started thinking about that rogue in the hospital and how much I could relate to what he went through with his rejection. I knew how hard it was. I hoped he had a second chance out there.“What are you thinking about?” Mark asked. We had just gotten into our room and I realized I was just standing in the middle of the room. I moved towards the closet to pick out some clothes for after showering.“I was thinking about the rogue and his rejection. I know what it feels like. We should let him join the pack if he wants. I wouldn’t force him to go back to where he came from. At least give him some time to heal and get on his feet. Help him to see that there are good ones out there and that life does go on. Maybe he will have a second chance out there. And he doesn't have to stay here forever. But being a part of the pack until he does decide what to do is better than bein
OAKLEYI remembered what my mom and Selene had told me in the dream about my dad getting a second chance mate. I was happy it didn’t take long to find her. He deserved to be happy. I watched as he walked down the hallway following the scent of his mate. I followed him while the others took care of the kid.He stopped at a door that opened at the same time he arrived. A woman in a doctor coat with a stethoscope hanging around her neck stepped out. she was pretty with long curly brown hair, brown eyes and about my height. She looked at my dad and her eyes widened.“Mate.” She whispered. He nodded at her.“This can’t be. I had a mate. He passed away in a fight against rogues.” She said.“I lost my first mate as well. You’re my second chance also. Perhaps you would like to get some coffee and talk?” My dad asked her. She nodded and they headed off towards what I was assuming was the cafeteria.I turned around and made my way back to where everyone else was. I didn’t want to impose and I c
OAKLEYWe waited in the meeting room for everyone to join us, we didn’t have to wait for very long. Once everyone was settled mark got right to it.“So as all of you know the rogues demanded to speak with me last night at the border. They wanted me to give Oakley to them. They said we had a week to turn her over or they were going to take her by force.” He said. Once he finished everyone either started growling or making comments that insinuated they would not let that happen. I was happy to know that they all would fight for me but I also didn’t want them to have to do that.“Settle down everyone.” Mark said. He waited for everyone to calm down. Then he continued.“As you know they have vampires working with them. Or actually they are working for a vampire who has sent some of his people to make sure they are doing as he tells them too. We have contacted a friend of the family who is a vampire. He will be here this evening to assist with training. While a lot of us have never fought
MARKI awoke to the sounds of birds chirping outside. I noted how it had been a bit since I had been on a morning run. But I felt like the reason I hadn’t was absolutely worth it. I looked over at my mate sleeping soundly. kissing her forehead gently so as not to wake her, I slipped out of bed and went to the bathroom. After relieving myself and brushing my teeth I went to the balcony. Sitting in one of the chairs I remembered what had happened the night before, before my mate went into her heat. When the rogues demanded they speak to me. I didn’t want to worry my mate but I knew I needed to tell her what had happened. How they demanded I turn her over to them or they would attack. Of course I had no intentions of handing her over. I knew that we would be able to come out of an attack against them with minimal damage but if they had vampires on their side then it would be harder. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t hear my mate approaching.“what’s wrong? I can feel your troubl
