chapter 28

OAKLEY

I was feeling so relaxed. I had not expected things to happen the way they did but I was not upset about it at all. Haven was so content in my mind. She was napping, feeling so happy. I had never had sex like that with my former mate. I didn’t know I could feel such pleasure. my former mate was usually just basic missionary and he never cared if I was pleased, only caring about himself. But this was different. I was surprised I could even stand, my legs felt like jelly. I was hooked and wanted it whenever I could.

We had just gotten out of the shower and were drying ourselves off when Mark got a mind link. I saw his eyes glaze over and the look on his face became one of concern. I knew it wasn’t good. Once he was done I asked him if everything was okay.

”we have a slight problem.” He responded.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“It seems that your dad has shown up at the border, so drunk that he can barely stand. Beta Jack is putting him in one of the guest rooms. I have him bringing him through the back door so no one sees. I don’t want him to be embarrassed when he sobers up.” He told me.

“My dad never drinks. This can’t be good at all. I better call my grandparents.” I said.

“You can talk to them when we go to pick up your things. He needs to sleep it off so we can talk to him. We should have lunch and then go to get your things. you can let them know when we are coming and make sure they are both there.” He suggested. It wasnt a bad idea. There wouldn’t be any talking to him when he was drunk and I did want my own things. I had to put in the clothes I wore the day before but instead my own shirt I grabbed one of marks. I saw him smile at that.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to be able to eat lunch when I was so worried about my dad but i went down to the dining hall with mark anyway.

“Why don’t you go sit down and I will grab us some food.” He said to me. I nodded. He kissed my forehead and then went off to where the buffet style table was. I made my way to a table, they only had the raised table for the higher ranks at dinner time and we all sat where ever for lunch and breakfast. That way the higher ranks can socialize with everyone else. I got my phone out to text my grams.

Oakley: hello grams. Hope all is well. we will be coming after lunch to get my things. Can you and grandpa be there please? We want to talk to you guys about something.

Grams: hello dear! I hope you had a good night. Of course we will be here. We will also help with moving your things.

Oakley: awesome. Thank you so much.

I put my phone away just as mark came to where I was sitting with two plates loaded with food. I gave him a questioning look.

“We will need our energy to move your stuff. And i Don’t know about you but i am starving” he said as he set a plate down in front me of and one where he would be sitting. He then set down two bottles of water that he had been carrying under one arm with the plates. Just then my stomach growled pretty loudly. Mark chuckled at that and handed me some utensils and a napkin. The food did smell pretty good. On my plate was a turkey sub with cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and bacon. There were some potato chips and a bowl of fruit. There was a chocolate chip cookie as well. We ate in silence. The occasional pack member greeting us. It was peaceful and enjoyable.

Once we finished we put our dishes in the stack of dirty dishes and threw out our empty water bottles. He took me by the hand and led me out to the garage. We walked toward a black suv.

“This should be big enough for all of your things right?” He asked me.

“Yes. My car is there also so we can put stuff in it if we run out of room.” I replied. He nodded and went to a rack of keys, grabbing the ones that went with the vehicle. We climbed in and he started it. He held my hand as we drove in silence to my grandparents house. It seems like he knew I wanted to just think. I was worried about my dad. I couldn’t figure it out what would cause him to show up here drunk. We pulled into the driveway and got out of the car. The front door opened just as we approached it.

“Oakley! I’m so glad to see you!” Grams exclaimed, pulling me into a hug. I hugged her back. I was happy that I would be able to see her whenever I wanted now that I was a part of the same pack. My grandfather stood behind her. She ushered us into the doorway, closing the door behind us.

“Alpha.” they greeted him and bared their necks in respect.

“It’s nice to see you. We don’t need to be formal when it is just us. After all, you guys are family now.” He said to them as he shook my grandfathers hand. They nodded at that.

“Oakley, you said you had something you wanted to talk to us about?” My grams inquired.

“Yes. Apparently dad showed up completely drunk, so drunk he could barely walk, this morning. He’s in a guest room at the pack house sleeping it off. I haven’t seen him yet.” I told them. I saw the look of surprise they had.

“He doesn’t drink ever. I wonder what happened.” Grams said.

“me too. I’m worried it has to do with everything we told him the other night.” I said.

“Oh no. I forgot about that.“ she said. I nodded. It wasn’t the first thing I thought of either

“he should be sobered up by the time dinner is over. We can meet with him and my parents to find out what is going on. You guys are welcome to join us.” Mark said.

“We will join you.” Grams said. After that was all straightened out we went up to my room to pack all my things. it didn’t take long for us to pack all of my things and load them into the suv. We agreed to leave my car there for the time being so I gave them my car keys so if they wanted to use it or needed to move it they could. we were making plans to meet after dinner and saying our goodbyes when i saw marks eyes glaze over for a mind link. We waited patiently for a few moments before he came back to us.

“He’s awake.” He said.
