Chapter 36

OAKLEY

“Oakley, what’s wrong?” Luna Angela asked once mark was done mindlinking me.

“mark just mind linked me. There are rogues.” I told her. Then her eyes glazed over for a moment as an alert was sent out over the pack mind link about the rogues and how everyone needed to get inside until they received the okay. We started to hurry towards the pack house when all of a sudden we heard a child screaming from the park.

“What was that?!” Luna Angela asked as she whirled around in the direction of the park.

“It sounded like a child screaming.” Said Beth. Luna Angela’s eyes glazed over again for a moment and when she came back to she looked troubled.

“one of the rogues got away while everyone was fighting off the rest of them.” She told us. We all started running towards the park. Haven was fighting me for control. I was having a hard time keeping her back. When we got to the park we were met with the sight of a rogue standing in the middle of the playground, holding onto a child from behind with a knife at her throat.

“Don’t come any closer or I will do it!” He shouted at us.

“Let’s not do anything to rash here. Why don’t you put the knife down and we can discuss this.” Luna Angela said gently. We had all stopped at the edge of the playground.

“No! When you bring me the one the blood suckers want I will give you the child and we can leave peacefully or I will make sure this child doesn’t see the light of another day!” He shouted back. He was deranged. The special one? For a moment I was confused. Then I looked at Beth who looked over at me and nodded. She knew what my question was instantly.

“They want me.” I whispered as more of a statement than anything. Luna angela looked over at me. She didn’t say anything but looked back at where they stood. I slowly stepped forward. she grabbed my arm and shook her head, not wanting me to keep going.

“I have a plan.” I whispered to her. I looked back and the playground and just beyond I could see mark and his dad along with a few of the warriors and what looked like the beta and gamma.

“Don’t come any closer!” He shouted, tightening his hold on the child. She whimpered from the pain and fear.

“i am the one you want.” I told him.

“What are you doing my angel? Don’t go any closer. We will handle this and make sure

no one gets you.” Came marks voice in my mind.

“Please trust me my mate. I have a plan. You remember the dream I told you about. I cannot hide forever.” i told him. I looked over at him, or at his wolf form, and he nodded slightly. I was glad that he was going to trust me. I took one small step closer to the rogue who backed up with the child.

“You’re lying!“ he shouted.

“I’m not lying. A child’s life is at stake. Why would I lie about something like this.” I responded to him, holding my hands up.

“Prove it!” He shouted.

“How am I supposed to do that?” I asked him. I was trying to stall him while marks warriors quietly circled around us, hiding so he couldn't see them but they could see him.

“Shift! The special one has a pure white wolf.” He said. He was beginning to shake. I could see he was scared.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked him. I was hoping to get some answers before shifting.

“The filthy blood suckers want the special one for her powers. The master blood sucker intends to mate with her and create spawns who have powers and can be manipulated to form some kind of army for him because he wants to be king of all.” The rogue told us. Luna Angela gasped behind me and I heard mark growl at that. The rogue tried to turn to see where the growl came from but I didn’t want him to know we were not the only ones there so I shouted out to him.

“Alright! I will shift but as soon as I do you need to let her go.” I told him. He looked back at me.

“I said if I had the special one I would let the child go. I have no use for her.“ he sneered. I took another step forward and then called haven forward. The sound of bones cracking and breaking as they rearranged to take wolf form could be heard and then it was quiet. he looked shocked for a moment and stumbled back some, losing his grip on the child long enough for her to get out of his grasp and run crying. She ran to Luna Angela who scooped her up and took off with her towards the pack house and safety.

Haven let out a low growl at the rogue and then released a very powerful alpha aura that I didn’t even know we had. I guess it had something to do with being marked. The rogue fell to his knees and bared his neck in respect. Haven started to slowly walk towards the rogue not letting up on the power. I could see him struggle to fight it, he was sweating and shaking. I saw his eyes changing as he fought with his wolf for control. His wolf wanted to show the respect and do as haven said and he wanted to fight and take me away.

Haven kept stalking toward him slowly and I could see the others coming out from hiding but as they got closer it was like a wall had stopped them so they couldn’t get closer then the edge of the play ground. all they could do was watch. mark was trying hard to get to us but no matter what he did he just couldn’t. I could hear zorro growling and snarling.

As we got closer to the rogue, our teeth bared, a low growl emanating from our chest, crouched in an attack position he started to beg.

“Please don’t hurt me, I’m sorry, I will leave and never come back, please don’t kill me.” He kept begging over and over. I could feel havens anger. Endangering a child was too far for her and there was no chance she was going to let him live. I had a feeling she was going to make it very painful for him as well.

She put her paw on his chest, pushing him down so he was laying on the ground on his back. then she started to circle him, tail twitching in a way that showed her anger. She stopped at his feet and very quickly, unexpectedly, she grabbed one of his feet by the ankle and quickly jerked it, breaking his ankle. The sickening sound along with the scream that came from him was loud. She then moved on to his other leg and did the same. I was surprised at her level of torture.

She walked up along side of him as he was writhing on the ground and grabbed his knee and bit as hard as she could, crushing it with her strong jaws. She slowly moved to the other side and did the same. I could feel her starting to get bored as she walked up to his head, grabbed his neck in her jaws and bit hard, shaking her head and removing his head from his body completely. I could feel the blood running down our jaws from the now corpse. She dropped the head in disgust and backed away. she reigned in the alpha aura so the others could approach. Then she sat down and waited, staring at zorro, waiting to see what his reaction would be. She was in the moment and hadn’t thought about the fact that he was watching.
