I checked out of yet another hotel room. Once again I scolded myself for not flying and for driving to the council meeting. I could have been home days ago. As it was I would get home just in time for the festival.I got into my car after putting my bag in the backseat. No point in putting it in the trunk when I was by myself. I should have brought my beta or gamma just so I could have someone to talk to on this long boring drive home.My mind wandered to the call I had with my dad and beta the previous night. They had quite a few things to update me on. Starting with the new pack member, Oakley, and her white wolf. My dad said she is massive, as big as sorry, and reminded me of her families history. Then the conversation switch to the rogue that came onto the territory. How they tried to get information from him but he wouldn't talk. It was odd. The rogues have been coming in groups, not one by himself. We didn't know what to think of that. Once I get home and the festival is over I planned on interrogating him. My alpha aura should make him submit and talk but it didn't work on any of the others. I knew they weren't working alone. It was reaching afternoon and my stomach growled. Only a few more miles of this interstate and then it would be back roads the rest of the way. I had my beta prepping my suit for the festival so all I had to do was shower and change when I got home. I hoped that none of the alphas tried to pawn their daughters off on me. They all think I will take one of their daughters as a chosen mate and create an alliance. I wanted to hold out for my mate. I know she is out there somewhere. After a few more miles I take an exit off the interstate to start the drive on the back roads. There is a small diner just off the exit that I have been to a few times. It is neutral territory so all different types of shifters can be seen there. The owners are a bear shifter and a wolf shifter that are fated mates. It works well for them.I park the car and head on inside. I find a booth in the back with my back to the wall so I can see the door. I do not like surprises or being snuck up on. Not that anyone would be able to sneak up on me because of my wolf sense. I picked up the menu and read over it.I heard the ring of the bell on the door and my nose was assaulted with the worst smell ever, like rotten eggs mixed with a trash dump. I looked up to see three skinny, dirty looking wolf shifters. They were clearly rogues. Being on neutral territory no one could do anything but everyone seemed to avoid them. Probably for their stench mostly. They took a seat not far away from me and I could over hear them talking. They were saying something about their boss wanting a special wolf and how they didn't understand it but that they would follow orders. Their boss was having doubts about where this wolf was so they were going to start looking into other territories. No mentions of where they had been before.A waitress came over and interrupted my eaves dropping."What can I get you handsome?" She asked. She was young, looked like she could be a model. She smelled like a wolf. She had a flirty smile but I was not at all interested. I gave her my order in a monotone voice, hoping she would get the hint that I wasn't interested. I really just wanted her to go away so I could continue to listen to the rogues. By the time she had left they had put in their order and had changed the subject to something else. I was annoyed. My meal came around the same time as theirs and once I was finished I paid and went outside to my car."Did you hear enough of what you wanted?" I heard a voice from beside the diner."Yea, it's rude to listen to other people's conversations." Said another. The rogues from inside came sulking out from the allyway. Up close I could see their scars and dirt from where they clearly did not take care of themselves. Their clothes had holes in them, they didn't wear shoes and their hair was so greasy and dirty that I couldn't even tell what color it was."What do you want?" I asked with an attitude as I continued toward my car."Don't you mean what do YOU want since your the one who was listening to our conversation?" The one who seemed like he might be the leader of the three asked."I have no business with you. I want nothing to do with you." I said. I had reached my car and thrown my wallet and phone inside incase I needed to shift and fight them. I hoped it wouldn't come down to that because fighting on neutral territory was against all supernatural rules. There had to be a few places one could go and feel safe."You better watch yourself." Said the leader as they backed away back into the alley. I just rolled my eyes and got into my car. I sped out of there, flinging rocks from the gravel parking lot as I went. I felt a little bad for that because they could have harmed someone who didn't deserve it but I wanted to get out of their and back to my territory.I called my dad and told him about the encounter and relayed to him what I had heard them saying."Hmmm. That's interesting." He said."What?" I responded."Well I have some ideas about this but I want to do some research before I come to any conclusions and say anything. I'll get back to you on this. Of course it will be after the festival because your mother has me running around like a chicken with its head cut off." He chuckled."Ah yes. I believe that." I smiled as I responded. I could see her now, barking orders at him and him doing exactly what she said with all the love he has for her. They are fated and they are the reason he wants to wait for his fated. He has never seen such love from a fated pair as his parents."I hope you will be home in time." My dad said."I am on my way now and I will make it just in time for the festival." I replied. We hung up and I continued on the road through the woods that would take me home.
MARKI couldn’t believe it when Rebecca told us everything that had been happening. I was happy for her that she had found her mate. I loved when my pack members were happy and I had a feeling her mate would make a good addition to the pack. I was going to have to take care of this situation with Serenity before it got out of hand. She had gone to far. I just wasn't sure yet how I was going to handle it. I would be having a meeting later with the beta and gamma couple and my own mate and parents and we would have to figure something out together because I had never had a situation like this before. I had to much going on with the vampires and rogues to deal with her petty jealousy. We all got up and headed over to the pack hospital. When i checked to see about visiting I was told he was all patched up and resting. A few days and he would be fully recovered. Maybe with his mate he would recover faster. I could only hope that he would accept his second chance mate and not reject her out
OAKLEYWe walked into Marks office and I was assaulted with the scent of my mate and I felt myself melting onto one of his couches in front of the fireplace. I didn’t realize how tired I was.“Are you okay?” He asked me. I wasn’t even sure why I was so tired.“Yea. I am just tired for some reason.” I said. He chuckled.“I think because you have been doing a lot these past few days compared to what you were doing before and it might all be catching up to you. Tomorrow is a Saturday though so we get a day off.” He sat down next to me and pulled me into his lap. I snuggled into him and his warmth. I knew I couldn’t stay there or I would fall asleep.“We can’t just take a break. Not with a vampire camp on our borders and rogues trying to get in here.” I said, sitting up. Before he could say anything there was a knock at his door.“Come in.” He said in his alpha voice. The door slowly creaked open to reveal Rebecca standing there.“Come in and close the door. Have a seat.” He told her, ges
OAKLEYWe reached the pack house and had just enough time to shower before lunch. We made our way to the alpha floor. I started thinking about that rogue in the hospital and how much I could relate to what he went through with his rejection. I knew how hard it was. I hoped he had a second chance out there.“What are you thinking about?” Mark asked. We had just gotten into our room and I realized I was just standing in the middle of the room. I moved towards the closet to pick out some clothes for after showering.“I was thinking about the rogue and his rejection. I know what it feels like. We should let him join the pack if he wants. I wouldn’t force him to go back to where he came from. At least give him some time to heal and get on his feet. Help him to see that there are good ones out there and that life does go on. Maybe he will have a second chance out there. And he doesn't have to stay here forever. But being a part of the pack until he does decide what to do is better than bein
OAKLEYI remembered what my mom and Selene had told me in the dream about my dad getting a second chance mate. I was happy it didn’t take long to find her. He deserved to be happy. I watched as he walked down the hallway following the scent of his mate. I followed him while the others took care of the kid.He stopped at a door that opened at the same time he arrived. A woman in a doctor coat with a stethoscope hanging around her neck stepped out. she was pretty with long curly brown hair, brown eyes and about my height. She looked at my dad and her eyes widened.“Mate.” She whispered. He nodded at her.“This can’t be. I had a mate. He passed away in a fight against rogues.” She said.“I lost my first mate as well. You’re my second chance also. Perhaps you would like to get some coffee and talk?” My dad asked her. She nodded and they headed off towards what I was assuming was the cafeteria.I turned around and made my way back to where everyone else was. I didn’t want to impose and I c
OAKLEYWe waited in the meeting room for everyone to join us, we didn’t have to wait for very long. Once everyone was settled mark got right to it.“So as all of you know the rogues demanded to speak with me last night at the border. They wanted me to give Oakley to them. They said we had a week to turn her over or they were going to take her by force.” He said. Once he finished everyone either started growling or making comments that insinuated they would not let that happen. I was happy to know that they all would fight for me but I also didn’t want them to have to do that.“Settle down everyone.” Mark said. He waited for everyone to calm down. Then he continued.“As you know they have vampires working with them. Or actually they are working for a vampire who has sent some of his people to make sure they are doing as he tells them too. We have contacted a friend of the family who is a vampire. He will be here this evening to assist with training. While a lot of us have never fought
MARKI awoke to the sounds of birds chirping outside. I noted how it had been a bit since I had been on a morning run. But I felt like the reason I hadn’t was absolutely worth it. I looked over at my mate sleeping soundly. kissing her forehead gently so as not to wake her, I slipped out of bed and went to the bathroom. After relieving myself and brushing my teeth I went to the balcony. Sitting in one of the chairs I remembered what had happened the night before, before my mate went into her heat. When the rogues demanded they speak to me. I didn’t want to worry my mate but I knew I needed to tell her what had happened. How they demanded I turn her over to them or they would attack. Of course I had no intentions of handing her over. I knew that we would be able to come out of an attack against them with minimal damage but if they had vampires on their side then it would be harder. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t hear my mate approaching.“what’s wrong? I can feel your troubl
