I watched as Oakley left the room, leaving behind her scent and happiness in my heart. I was so happy that she was going to accept me. I know she is going to make a fantastic Luna. I only wish my mother had waited a little more time before bombarding her. I didn’t want to scare her off when she just decided to accept the mate bond between us. Now I just needed to figure out how to convince her to move to the pack house.
I sat down at my desk to finish up some last minute paperwork before heading to dinner. I had quite a bit to catch up on from being away at the alpha council and didn’t have a lot of time since returning. Between the festival and finding my mate things have been a bit hectic. I also couldn’t concentrate on anything at all. I was still having a hard time concentrating but I knew I needed too. I also needed to deal with the rogues that are camping just past the border.
Deciding that I cannot concentrate any longer I get up from my desk and turn to look out the window. Sometimes I would just stare out the window and day dream about finding my mate. Now that I had found her I would day dream about her and what life would be like with her.
There is a knock at the door and when I tell them to come in my beta enters the office.
“How was your lunch?” he asked.
“It was great. She has accepted the mate bond and set up a time for Luna training with my mom. I am introducing her to the pack at dinner.” I told him, a big smile on my face. He grinned back at me.
“That’s great dude.“ he said, smiling back.
“Not to change the subject but did you happen to check out the rogue camp?” I asked him.
“I got as close as I could without being spotted. There seems to be about 10 of them staying there right now. I couldn’t tell if there might be more that just weren’t there. They were having a conversation but I was too far away for even wolf hearing to pick up what it was about.” He replied. I went To the map of our territory that was hanging on the wall and had him point out exactly where it was. It was just past the northern border, heading further north.
“That’s odd. The attacks seem to be coming from the southern border.” I stated. The map had been laminated so I could write and erase on it with dry erase makers when needed. I had all the places where the attackers came from marked with red x’s and I marked where the camp was with a green x.
“Unless they are going around the outside of the border to try and confuse us. We would suspect they were just coming from the south and that would keep us distracted from the north. I wonder if they are planning an attack. They could be trying to test our borders and our patrols. If they think we are sending all or most of our patrols and warriors to the south when they attack then that would leave the north wide open for an attack there as well.” He said as he looked over the map. I knew there was a reason he was my beta. He was so smart and was always thinking outside the box.
“That makes sense. Thankfully we aren’t that dumb. I have ordered the patrols to be doubled at all of the borders and told them to change up how they patrol so it is not the same every day. That way no one can see a pattern and try to sneak past that as well.”
“That makes sense. How did the council meeting go? I never got a chance to ask since things have been a little crazy.” He inquired.
“It went about as expected. No one wanted to be involved and claimed that it was random attacks. Except glacier pack. Alpha Brad mentioned something happening like this here before, a long time ago, when our parents werent even alphas yet. I forgot to ask my dad about it. at the least we have the support of glacier pack and I will ask my dad about it later.” I told him, remembering that last morning and talking to alpha Brad. I had completely forgotten about it until right now.
“It’s odd. It almost seems as if they are looking for someone specific. They don’t actually attack anyone until they have shifted to their wolves. It seems as though they are not happy with what they see then.” He said. I thought back on some of the attacks and it seemed like he was onto something. But if they were looking for someone specific then who was it? Was my pack in danger? I hated playing the waiting game. I might have been a bit impatient as well. I wanted to know what they wanted and I wanted to know it now.
“What happened with the rogue in the cells? Did you get him to talk?” I asked him as I sat down at my desk. He sat in one of the chairs across from me and sighed.
“No. We tried every torture tactic possible. He wouldn’t speak one word. He eventually died from his wounds.” He said. I sighed. No matter how many of them we captured we always ended up with the same results. It was getting very frustrating.
“Well. We can talk about this all evening but we have a dinner to get to and a Luna to introduce.” He said, standing up. i stood up as well.
“Yes, yes we do.” We made our way out of my office and towards the dining hall, chatting about things happening in the pack on the way.
MARKI couldn’t believe it when Rebecca told us everything that had been happening. I was happy for her that she had found her mate. I loved when my pack members were happy and I had a feeling her mate would make a good addition to the pack. I was going to have to take care of this situation with Serenity before it got out of hand. She had gone to far. I just wasn't sure yet how I was going to handle it. I would be having a meeting later with the beta and gamma couple and my own mate and parents and we would have to figure something out together because I had never had a situation like this before. I had to much going on with the vampires and rogues to deal with her petty jealousy. We all got up and headed over to the pack hospital. When i checked to see about visiting I was told he was all patched up and resting. A few days and he would be fully recovered. Maybe with his mate he would recover faster. I could only hope that he would accept his second chance mate and not reject her out
OAKLEYWe walked into Marks office and I was assaulted with the scent of my mate and I felt myself melting onto one of his couches in front of the fireplace. I didn’t realize how tired I was.“Are you okay?” He asked me. I wasn’t even sure why I was so tired.“Yea. I am just tired for some reason.” I said. He chuckled.“I think because you have been doing a lot these past few days compared to what you were doing before and it might all be catching up to you. Tomorrow is a Saturday though so we get a day off.” He sat down next to me and pulled me into his lap. I snuggled into him and his warmth. I knew I couldn’t stay there or I would fall asleep.“We can’t just take a break. Not with a vampire camp on our borders and rogues trying to get in here.” I said, sitting up. Before he could say anything there was a knock at his door.“Come in.” He said in his alpha voice. The door slowly creaked open to reveal Rebecca standing there.“Come in and close the door. Have a seat.” He told her, ges
OAKLEYWe reached the pack house and had just enough time to shower before lunch. We made our way to the alpha floor. I started thinking about that rogue in the hospital and how much I could relate to what he went through with his rejection. I knew how hard it was. I hoped he had a second chance out there.“What are you thinking about?” Mark asked. We had just gotten into our room and I realized I was just standing in the middle of the room. I moved towards the closet to pick out some clothes for after showering.“I was thinking about the rogue and his rejection. I know what it feels like. We should let him join the pack if he wants. I wouldn’t force him to go back to where he came from. At least give him some time to heal and get on his feet. Help him to see that there are good ones out there and that life does go on. Maybe he will have a second chance out there. And he doesn't have to stay here forever. But being a part of the pack until he does decide what to do is better than bein
OAKLEYI remembered what my mom and Selene had told me in the dream about my dad getting a second chance mate. I was happy it didn’t take long to find her. He deserved to be happy. I watched as he walked down the hallway following the scent of his mate. I followed him while the others took care of the kid.He stopped at a door that opened at the same time he arrived. A woman in a doctor coat with a stethoscope hanging around her neck stepped out. she was pretty with long curly brown hair, brown eyes and about my height. She looked at my dad and her eyes widened.“Mate.” She whispered. He nodded at her.“This can’t be. I had a mate. He passed away in a fight against rogues.” She said.“I lost my first mate as well. You’re my second chance also. Perhaps you would like to get some coffee and talk?” My dad asked her. She nodded and they headed off towards what I was assuming was the cafeteria.I turned around and made my way back to where everyone else was. I didn’t want to impose and I c
OAKLEYWe waited in the meeting room for everyone to join us, we didn’t have to wait for very long. Once everyone was settled mark got right to it.“So as all of you know the rogues demanded to speak with me last night at the border. They wanted me to give Oakley to them. They said we had a week to turn her over or they were going to take her by force.” He said. Once he finished everyone either started growling or making comments that insinuated they would not let that happen. I was happy to know that they all would fight for me but I also didn’t want them to have to do that.“Settle down everyone.” Mark said. He waited for everyone to calm down. Then he continued.“As you know they have vampires working with them. Or actually they are working for a vampire who has sent some of his people to make sure they are doing as he tells them too. We have contacted a friend of the family who is a vampire. He will be here this evening to assist with training. While a lot of us have never fought
MARKI awoke to the sounds of birds chirping outside. I noted how it had been a bit since I had been on a morning run. But I felt like the reason I hadn’t was absolutely worth it. I looked over at my mate sleeping soundly. kissing her forehead gently so as not to wake her, I slipped out of bed and went to the bathroom. After relieving myself and brushing my teeth I went to the balcony. Sitting in one of the chairs I remembered what had happened the night before, before my mate went into her heat. When the rogues demanded they speak to me. I didn’t want to worry my mate but I knew I needed to tell her what had happened. How they demanded I turn her over to them or they would attack. Of course I had no intentions of handing her over. I knew that we would be able to come out of an attack against them with minimal damage but if they had vampires on their side then it would be harder. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t hear my mate approaching.“what’s wrong? I can feel your troubl
