“Why didn't you do anything?” She asked Carson when Marian was out of sight. She knew if he had asked Marian to give Gary a break, she would have obeyed.

“Who else knows how to take care of Gary so well aside from her? She knows the best way to discipline him”.

“But…” she paused, but Carson continued to watch her, waiting for her to speak. He could clearly see the displeasure on her face and the pain as well.

He wondered how she could feel for someone she had just met. She wanted to cry for a child she had met not even up to an hour ago.

Her husband had made her go through hell, yet she was still sweet and caring, he shook his head in wonder.

“Good morning, Mr. Carson. Good morning ma'am” An older woman walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning ma'am, Anny. This is Lydia, my client. Lydia this is ma'am Anny, my cook and housekeeper”.

“Hello, ma'am. Good morning” Lydia greeted with a little bow while Ma'am Anny scoffed,

“Call me Anny instead” Although Lydia didn't feel it was righ
